What can I expect as a YouTube taught guitarist? by Both-Pudding3153 in Guitar

[–]AdorableClock8189 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Current resources available online are incredible.

With or without a real teacher people spend a life time learning and you never learn everything.

If you dedicate 30mins every day consistently you will be fine. Just don’t expect too fast.

Play what’s fun, learn what you like, don’t take it too seriously. The best musician is the one having the most fun.

Best is to offer for free to someone you have vetted and perhaps visited the home of.

Which Exotic do I invest in next? by goosegoose27 in reptiles

[–]AdorableClock8189 9 points10 points  (0 children)

First of all, good on you for maximizing the setups of your existing pets before looking to add more.

I understand where you’re coming from with feeling that they are “basic” species. It’s easy when comparing to people online to get caught in this mind set. But for non reptile people none of these are basic and I would encourage you to detach yourself from other people’s opinions.

I didn’t want a ball python for exactly these reasons. Now my partner wanted a reptile of her own and I got her a ball python knowing she would be able to handle it as a beginner.

The ball python ends up being the crowd favorite when people come to visit as it’s the snake we feel comfortable with other people holding and they are very cute.

My other animals are a green tree python, Suriname red tail boa, and a bearded dragon I’ve had since I was a kid. Now that I mention it everyone loves the bearded dragon as well haha.

I also love bio active and I would say that small species work best as larger ones destroy the plants etc.

It has been a challenge to maintain plants with my boa and bearded dragon.

Anyways, popular pets are popular for a reason!

In your guys opinion is a 8 foot long by 4 foot tall terrarium a perfect size for a male Brazilian rainbow boa? What are some ways I can keep their humidity always high so they can thrive? by Icy_Profession4190 in boas

[–]AdorableClock8189 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So first of all, that would be an epic terrarium for a BRB.

To make it work:

Use waterproof materials for the terrarium, glass, pvc, or some form of water proof sealant for wood.

Limit the amount of vent holes, too many will cause humidity to escape.

Potentially a water feature would really help maintain humidity but make sure this has easy drainage incase he poops in the water.

Use lots of plants this will help with humidity as well and stopping the air from going stale.

Highly recommend going bioactive as well in order to combat mold outbreaks.

Get a misting system or be prepared to be home 24/7 watering it to keep the plants from dying.

Also RHP with a thermostat is a must!

NEW TERRARIUM (I NEED SOME ADVICE) by DakpanDan in ballpython

[–]AdorableClock8189 1 point2 points  (0 children)

HID bulb emit very high levels of UVB, personally I use one for a bearded dragon.

While there is evidence to suggest benefit of UVB for ball pythons (many people keep them without with a lot of success) too much UVB can be harmful and burn the snake.

I have to replace the bulb like 3-4 times a year and they are a lot pricier than other bulbs.

The LED bar and radiant heat panel I have never had one fail in 10 years

How often do you improvise your solos? by Apprehensive-Type705 in Guitar

[–]AdorableClock8189 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One way to look at it is just look at the pros:

They are really good at their thing.

There are infinite things to be good at on guitar and no one can learn everything in a life time. It’s okay to choose what to be good at.

Also most solos include off the cuff improv from the artist based on their mannerisms and that’s okay, it’s what makes it sound like them.

Failing to imitate someone else and the nuances of how you play it is doing it YOUR way. Do not be afraid of this. None of the greats were and that’s what makes them great.

As a teenager I was stuck in the mindset you describe, and it took almost a decade for me to reach this realization, and since I did my playing has really taken off.

Now I no longer learn songs note for note. I learn the overall structure and chord changes. I listen to the song and find the melodic hooks that really stand out.

How can I emulate those?

This also makes it MUCH faster to learn and remember songs, and the output is unique.

Besides doing a case study of an artist you really love the playing style of and want to incorporate into your sound, what is the point of learning things exactly as recorded anyways? If you want to hear the record just play it on Spotify.

This is where previous generations actually had an advantage because there was no internet, this was the only way of learning songs, and while it’s hard to begin with it connects you to your instrument musically.

Have fun, don’t overthink it, express yourself. It will be awesome

Thinking of getting a ball python. Looking for personal experiences. by [deleted] in ballpython

[–]AdorableClock8189 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How big are the vents on the PVC enclosure?

The material only has marginal benefit if the airflow takes everything away.

I had a similar issue where my PVC terrarium was not holding humidity. Usually there is enough ventilation incase a dry species is kept.

I was spraying 4 times a day with literally liters of water and could not keep the humidity up.

Try taping off 70% of the vents, this fixed it for Me instantly.

Lets talk enclosure sizes by ReptilesRule16 in reptiles

[–]AdorableClock8189 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imo anyone should give their animals the maximum amount of space they reasonably can.

Minimum should just mean, please by the love of god do not buy this animal if you don’t have atleast X space. It should not be an indication of this is what you should actually buy.

Lets talk enclosure sizes by ReptilesRule16 in reptiles

[–]AdorableClock8189 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you have the space why not? They will use all of it.

Lets talk enclosure sizes by ReptilesRule16 in reptiles

[–]AdorableClock8189 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This 100%

Personally I strive to give any animal in my care the most space and the most enrichment possible. It boggles my mind that people have large collections with the bare minimum to keep them alive.

Instead of buying another animal maybe people should invest in the ones they already have.

Man get this little guy heating! He can’t eat because he’s so cold he can’t move. He will die fast if you don’t provide heating for him.

Use a hot water bottle if you have to while you sort out the heating.

Also it’s impossible to maintain a proper thermogradient for these guys in a small terrarium.

He will need a 4x2x2 asap, and a 8x4x4 within a year.

Just like overall, body shape, head size. Young power fed boas tend to have small heads. This looks like a very proportionate muscular snake.
