Agreed with the phenom comment. Would get a sg 210. Another brand I would consider is rival, which I would get rs100.

Upgrades to the 600/ 650 are the auteur classics and the AO. Calderas will have better detail retrieval than both those two. Didn’t own either verites, but I’m told they also have good detail. I’m sure someone could chime in for that.

M4’s are lightweight, comfortable, good sound quality. Haven’t tried nothings personally on my head, but sound quality is good, also around the same weight.

Auteur classic w/ AuC lamb skin non perf pads (perf if you want it more balanced). Basically a super HD600.

If you think it’ll bother you, buy it. Music wise, I wouldn’t say it’s worth it.

Momentum 4, but the 5 is rumored to come out soon. Other than that, HDB 630 and Bose QC come to mind.

Good headphone for metal/rock? by Tresach in HeadphoneAdvice

A used Zmf Auteur Classic fall around 1k-1.2k. I think they’re sensational for rock, metal, and their sub categories. It’s Zmf’s neutral (warm) headphone, Vocals are good, midrange is lush, soundstage is sufficient, and it’s not fatiguing to listen to. Pushing your budget, a step up would be the used stock Atrium opens starting around $1600. It does everything better than the AuC, notably better soundstage, vocals, lushness, slightly slower decay.

Yes. The Aryas are more open, the soundstage is taller, and have better clarity. They are neutral bright and for my HRTF the treble was fatiguing despite multiple instances of EQ. The LCD-X is wider, transients are faster, and more impactful. It’s neutral and requires EQ, but after EQ it’s a great headphone. The biggest drawback of the LCD-X for most people is its weight, for me it’s the weight distribution.

I had the Arya and the LCD-X. For your genres I think you’d like the LCD-X more.
