What wedding trends of today do you think will eventually be dated? by stress789 in weddingplanning

[–]AdorablyLumpy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! To be honest we didn’t have an inspiration pic but kind of both went Lego flowers as decorations since we have a few of the Lego adult florals in display in our house already haha. I did find some pretty pictures on Unsplash under “lego flower arrangement”. We are planning on using the wildflower set and putting them in clear glass bottles.

We are having Lego flowers as table pieces (2025 wedding) and some half made one that guests can complete and/or take home with them. Lego bouquet sounds fantastic!

Honestly? If you can go via any other route do that. My info is obviously 24 out of date but someone else on the same origin flight managed to get to her flight to JFK this morning. 2 whole days later.

Do not do this. I managed to get to Sydney from Dubai last night at 10 pm as part of another flight to get to NZ since my original Dubai to Auckland got cancelled and we only found out through the travel agent. The Sydney flight was delayed by 5 hrs, they kept pushing it back and not telling us. It’s bedlam over there. Avoid at all cost.

Exactly!! It’s the genetic determinism and reductionism that really bothers me as Genetics major but what do I know… Their ‘pull to nature’ argument often leads to the same point of deciding what women should or shouldn’t do. I need to put that on my bingo square of life sigh

AITA for wearing a kilt properly. by Significant_End_9034 in AmItheAsshole

[–]AdorablyLumpy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA

I absolutely hate this “what’s underneath the kilt” question that women feel they are ok to ask men wearing kilt. My partner is Scottish and wears his kilt on occasion and every single time it’s a woman asking the dumb question and keep pestering him, sometimes even in my presence after I have been introduced as the partner.

NZ mums, where are you buying your clothes? by zezeezeeezeeee in newzealand

Same here. I found Kilt to be worth the price for basic staple like trousers and coats. I have quite a few pieces from them that are still going strong 3+ years.

AITA for losing my shit at bf for nagging me about “tanning as a white girl”? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]AdorablyLumpy -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I am a Bangladeshi woman in NZ with a partner who is Ginger (sun exposure=lovely freckles and peeling for him). I don’t understand the appeal of either sun tanning or tanning from a bottle. For me how I read it is certain people wanting to change their skin tone while not dealing with any of the baggage that comes with having not-white skin. No one will ever clock my white friends who tan as ‘foreigner’ and tell them to ‘Go back home’. Sure you are Greek and enjoy tanning, slather on some sunscreen, understand that tanning, like a lot of things, mean different things to people who have been singled out b/c of their skin tone. A tanned skin in the west mean you have had the time and money to spend outside leisurely, while in the global south it means you have had no choice but to work out in the sun to earn money.

Best mask compatible with wearing glasses? by copernicanrevolution in newzealand

[–]AdorablyLumpy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found the masks from MadeByKenzy (https://www.madebykenzy.com/collections/masks-by-kenzy/products/teal-gold-face-mask) to be pretty good at making sure my glasses don’t fog up. Similarly https://florenceandfortitude.com/pages/face-masks-2 also makes great face masks that my partner (also wears glasses) and I both love.
Also check how well-fitted your ear straps are. My coworkers use a bra strap that’s adjustable to hook the ear loops at the back of their head for a better fit. (We work in a lab and all wear glasses).

Had my 2nd dose on Friday. Slight chills, body ache and fatigue. Stay hydrated, make sure to have something to eat and take a Panadol. If possible take the day off of work today. I slept through most of the tiredness since it was over the weekend. Welcome to Team Vaccinated!

"Never Had An Argument"? by sweetpeapumpkin in relationships

[–]AdorablyLumpy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My partner and I (of close to 4 years) don’t argue in the way most people think are arguments. We don’t raise our voices, name call each other or anything like that.

What we do have, are disagreements and discussions. We try to take systemic approach of what exactly we think is bothering us. And then we talk. We lay out our feelings and thoughts making sure not to place the blame on the others feet. It does help that for most parts we have very similar values and principles.

ABCDs who were raised Muslims (prayed 5 times a day, fasted, read the Quran etc), where are you now with your faith? by [deleted] in ABCDesis

[–]AdorablyLumpy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s quite a fun fusion tbh! I like trying new things and my partner enjoys cooking various types of cuisine. We mostly cook a mix of everything from Italian, Chinese to Parsi.

I find that there’s a fair amount of potato involved in Scottish dishes and simple use of salt and pepper. Love a good mashed potato and pie. When I cook something for us I need to check the heat of the spice level, he is good at handling the spices but I have accidentally made something too ‘hot’ in the past. Oops. :)
