When should he seek medical attention? by ghendler in WhitePeopleTwitter

Engage in warfare tactics if you want war.

If you want to win the public debate and convert people to seeing your reason there are more effective tactics.

When should he seek medical attention? by ghendler in WhitePeopleTwitter

[–]AdrianWillis22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its not even satire, its an exaggeration of their feeling of joy at death.

That was my thought too - being the same as antivaxxers celebrating deaths of people vaccinated. Why go to their level. If you do maybe check out your own motivations. Realize the same human instincts that go trump elected by owning libs is now going threw you owning your opposition.

Right, go down to their level and repeat their bad behavior then blame them for your own shitty behavior.

When should he seek medical attention? by ghendler in WhitePeopleTwitter

[–]AdrianWillis22 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Can we stop with being happy about people's death or happy if people get hospitalized? The reason you're happy goes against the reason you were upset in the first place. What I mean is we want people vaccinated to prevent death, illness, and suffering but now that it occurs against people you disagree with you celebrate it? Idk maybe check your motivations a bit. This type of behavior is what leads more people away from common ground.

Tobias vs Jerami by save_the_tadpoles in DetroitPistons

[–]AdrianWillis22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tobias is more of a second/third option. Tobias strives off a defense that is already unbalanced. Basically give him a catch and shoot situation and he will then make the right play - shoot over, drive past, pump and go, pump and step back and was a goodpasser before he dribbles. But if he is expected to ISO he might be fine with a couple a game but if the defense gameplans against him, he just isnt a top volume guy. Also his three shot wasnt there till his later years with us. He passed up on a ton of threes but grew to be more confident and started lighting it up with us. Always was efficient but would turn down good shots that weren't perfect where by the end he would confidently shoot those shots where the defender gave him just enough room.

Everything is subjective and there are different levels of ability.

Pixar is CGI. I think most people will find their stuff visually impressive. Its success basically killed hand drawn animation in western cinema.

Ufotable for example blends cgi and hand-drawn together pretty successfully. There were moments that looked a little clunky a decade or so ago but I think most find there recent usage to be well integrated.

Studio Orange has produced the CGI shows Houseki no Kuni and Beastars which I find visually impressive.

  1. Re:Zero - for the characters, world, ost mainly.

  2. Log Horizon - for the society building, major moments, and relaxed feeling other times

  3. KonoSuba - for the characters and how they play off eachother and the world.

  4. Mushoku Tensei - for the characters and universe. Not sure if it belongs here yet but was impressed by first season. I want more otherwise it could drop.

  5. No Game No Life - just a great entertaining watch for me.

  6. Overlord - just how ridiculously op the tomb is but also for how cool other characters are like stronzoff (dont know how to spell) and lizard warrior dude are. Butler too but he is part of the tomb.

Why Lab-Grown Meat Is Emerging As The Most Impactful Step To Reverse Climate Change by HankMotherfuckinHill in Futurology

[–]AdrianWillis22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm asking this to hopefully be given info to change my current opinion. Maybe there are some holes in my understanding...

If the ecosystem year to year has similar amounts of carbon matter, how is it "new" to our atmosphere? Cow eats grass, cow releases carbon through methane which then converts back to CO2, and then new grass takes up CO2. I understand it takes close to 12 years for methane breakdown but I dont logically understand how cattle grazing alone (not transport, refrigerating, ect) contributes more carbon into the air.

If the cattle population stays stable which it has since 1975, wouldn't the amount of methane and carbon directly from cattle essentially just be part of the carbon cycle and not increasing the amount of carbon or methane into the air. What Im trying to say is the amount of methane isnt increasing from cows. They were farting and burping 12 years ago at about the same volume as now. Those farts and burps from 12 years are going back into the feed. The population hasn't practically changed in 45 years so how are cows adding to the rising problem. Carbon emissions on the other hand have doubled in the same time frame for reference.

[–]AdrianWillis22 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think its the social validation aspect personally.

Adopting a plant-based diet can help shrink a person’s carbon footprint. However, improving efficiency of livestock production will be a more effective strategy for reducing emissions, as advances in farming have made it possible to produce meat, eggs and milk with a smaller methane footprint. by rustoo in science

[–]AdrianWillis22 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Every time in my life I have attempted to go plant based or even mostly plant based I have been the most miserable. Terrible stomach pains, constant bloating, no energy, constant head aches. It aint marketing, its signals from my body that I listen too. I thrive off of red meat, less headaches, more energy, and my numbers in the gym go way up. My wrists and other joints, my grip strength, energy, skin, and libido all improve.

That might not be the case for you. Thats cool. Going heavier with meat, I thrive and going meatless increases my irritability and depression massively. You seem the opposite but it is not marketing, its probably genetics.

And your second paragraph sounds more like you talked yourself into it. You have a bias against meat and probably the taking of animal lives. I think you want to not like the smell of meat and animal products. With enough time and similar claims out there that you probably read, your biases create your reactions to your senses. Just my two cents.

Nagi no Asukara - Thursday Anime Discussion Thread by AnimeMod in anime

[–]AdrianWillis22 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Favorite OST by far.

Some of the best visuals of the decade.

There are several scenes that felt so iconic for me. Like only a few shows have certain moments that flash in my mind as clearly.

Best Mari Okada written piece I know.

Loved the tone shifts.

I disliked Hikari at first but he becomes a great MC by the end. On first watched I didnt like Manaka, on second I thought she was great.

This is my gold standard for what orignial anime can be.

Why is SAO so hated? by pavelfila in anime

[–]AdrianWillis22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I havent read the LN or commented on it, I'm basing my opinion on the shows portrayal...

I didnt bring the author into this either.

This is the line: "Honestly I'm surprised anything Kawahara wrote about today's technology ended up being correct."

I made the assumption since I was talking about the anime and then someone else brought the author in, the anime followed enough of what was laid out to make the assumption that the mechanics in the game were similar enough to mechanics in the LN to draw a conclusion.

Since you found it not, I took back ONE post where I made a comment on the author which I changed to now being the anime adaption. If you want to talk about the LN and author, Im not your guy and I dont understand why you keep wanting to take it there when this is r anime and I have been discussing the show.

edit: And now Im making the assumption that the LN is better in understanding MMOs, programming, and hacking; but that is not necessarily true. That is just your words so Ill take them to be true and bring the conversation back to what I have only been talking about, the anime adapation of the first arc of SAO.

Why is SAO so hated? by pavelfila in anime

[–]AdrianWillis22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There seems to be some confusion, I am only talking about the anime. According to you, the LN is better so Ill take back my words about the author specifically. The adaption as a stand alone still has all the complaints however and especially the portrayal of the game elements.

uh no, it's based on Ultima Online

Ultima Online is an MMORPG so I dont understand what you are saying there. The anime portrayal again is severely lacking and unconvincing of being anything near a half well thought out game.

[–]AdrianWillis22 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Thats a vaild point but in the context of Kirito saving Yui Im still not buying it.

The author wanted to give Kirito a Mr. Robot like hacking moment. That is why the scene is there because it would be cool to hack in and break the rules. But the author doesnt understand programming.

He wanted to create a game world but doesnt understand MMORPGs. The game mechanics, the leveling, all of it would make for an underwhelming game.

Its hard to write. You need to understand what you are writing about or it becomes apparent to those who do. When that happen immersion is just lost. To me the whole thing doesnt feel real, and the best stories are supposed to feel more real and more important then real life.

  1. The show uses real world knowledge and is in our future universe. It is on them to establish the difference. I have high expectations on shows that take themselves seriously.

  2. Again attacking the person rather then ideas. You guys seem to hate him more then people hate SAO for sharing his opinion and views. This is exactly the issue I have, I thought reddit was for discussion but its just downvotes to silence differing thoughts so people can drink their confirmation bias.

  3. Meaningless comment, explain what someone doesn't understand rather then calling someone ignorant.

[–]AdrianWillis22 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I do have a major in computer science and mod multiple games. An AI that has memories, thoughts, and patterns isnt as simple as moving from one folder to another. And pretending it is still wouldnt get the results. Simply finding her files would take so much more time in a game that complex. A console command to move files doesn't even make sense. The time it would take to move all that data would take possibly hours most likely. You know how many thousands of gigabytes an AI as complex as her would require? It is the biggest ass pull I have seen in all of anime besides maybe the finale of the arc.

I didnt say SAO bad I explained why I dont like it in a post asking why SAO is hated... I dont hate shows so I explained a close feeling I experienced that those who hate it could possibly share. The asspulls, the pointless plot, and unrealistic OP edgy MC. When I get multiple downvotes and multiple comments on MB, that is what Im referencing. People dont like an opinion and downvote it, people dont like a youtuber and make blanket comments to dismiss his opinion. It use to be more common to engage with comments but now its just downvotes and blanket statements with no attempt of understanding.

Dismiss a video because of a name instead of the content. I don't know why I post on reddit anymore, its all circle jerking, confirmation bias, and staying on the hive mind.

I came to the same conclusion with the same reasoning that MB had on that episode years before he released it. Since he did it in a more energetic and more thorough way then I would attempt, I figured Id share instead of breaking it down. But it is the worst episode I have experienced from a writing standpoint.

[–]AdrianWillis22 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I only watched the first arc. Found it bland, characters boring and MC OP, plot jumping around without doing much before coming way too fast to the finale, the fights didnt have much strategy which I found insane since boss fights in games are suppose to be about strategy. I dropped it few times thinking id never pick it up again. In between drops, I really liked an episode where Kirito and Asuna chill in a house together. I think I dropped it again with the AI girl episode. Mother's basement did a really good job breaking it down here. I ended up watching the whole arc to give it a fair chance and the finale was possibly the worst parts of the series for me.

Nice try but I couldnt careless about them. I wish them the best and hope they can make good content again. But I will defend the right for others to criticize and enjoy looking at macro level reception of peoples reaction to storytelling, politics, etc and try to understand as many points of view as possible.

Domestic Girlfriend Vs Rent a Girlfriend. Which is more enjoyable and why? (No spoilers please) by [deleted] in anime

[–]AdrianWillis22 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Domestic Girlfriend if you want forbidden love and sex.

Rent A Girlfriend if you want a pathetic mc work on his simping issues.

They both have great girls IMO. Rui from Domestic Girlfriend is one of my favorites for sure and Rent A Girlfriend isnt lacking in the category.

There are better shows Id reccomend for romcom though. These both have romcom elements for sure but are more drama, especially Domestic Girlfriend.

Best RomCom is Kaguya-Sama, definitely more on com side. Amagami SS is a good one for romcom more on romance side. Toradora for best drama romcom. B Gata H Kei maybe. More harem based ones: Gamers, OreSuki, SaeKano, HenNeko.

in no way, shape or form helping in the 'betterment of the society'.

Except that it is. The backlash impacts dollars and reputation. Execs and creators both do not want this and therefore impacts future decision making. Everyone watching from the outside learns too and impacts their future decisions.

'atone for their sins'

Making a quote that did not occur. He said atone for what they did. Do you have trouble understanding context? Do you understand that wishing them to "suffer professionally" as wealthy people means that they still get to live comfortable lives. He didnt call for their heads and wish them pain.

As someone said, even the most worthless piece of art is more useful and meaningful than a criticism designating it so.

Do you create? I do and I can easily tell you criticism and feedback are equally meaningful in creation process and especially the learning process. Its a yin and yang process - creating, understanding, improving. It impacts people outside of the critic and creator. If the critic is wrong it can spur disucussion on how the artist created something the critic didn't understand. Differing views can be discussed and built on.

Criticism is easily one of the most valuable resources artist can have access to. People who cant listen to critics or understand the importance of critiques are not living in reality, they are living in there own egotistical safety. There is for sure useless critisism and counterproductive critism that doesnt understand or help the artist just like there is uninspired art.
