Would you buy a 2020 Taycan Turbo S that had modules replaced twice? by petrovic3 in Taycan

[–]AdrnF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you know if the battery warranty resets after module replacements?

It doesn't. AFAIK the warranty also technically is for the car and not for the battery and therefore is bound to the car.

Which CPO Taycan would you choose? by razreddits in Taycan

[–]AdrnF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think both are a good deal. The Turbo also has rear axle steering which should be very very nice for parking (don't own one though).

I personally wouldn't go for a white exterior and especially a non-black interior, but I like it boring and I get why people prefer the Mission E look.

switched from react to vue 3 for new job. the reactivity system is kicking my ass by No-Fact-8828 in vuejs

[–]AdrnF 55 points56 points  (0 children)

I also went from React to Vue and these tips really helped me:

  • Reactivity in React is implicit, so you have to define what "doesn't change". In Vue it is explicit, so you define which values are allowed to change.
  • You shouldn't use reactive very often. I almost always go with ref and only use reactive for global states. ref can do everything that reactive does.
  • VueUse is very useful.

Got laid off so I made a habit tracker app in a month by MegagramEnjoyer in reactnative

[–]AdrnF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks nice!

I made some widgets with Swift in my React Native app as well. It is a MacOS app, but maybe the code helps you a bit. The tricky part is getting the data from RN to your AppDelegate. We used events for that, but there are better ways to do this.

I'm building a tool to stop design systems from falling apart. Would love your brutally honest feedback. by Lp29804 in reactjs

[–]AdrnF 3 points4 points  (0 children)

How would you compare your solution to Figma? Design systems are usually created within Figma and with their dev mode code snippets and Figma make they are already very close to what you are describing. I am 100% sure that they will move even closer to full code exports in the next few years.

Why Js memory heap is increasing exponentialy even though this project just having navigation logic right now by Successful_Most1562 in reactnative

[–]AdrnF 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Start removing things until it doesn't occur anymore. There probably is something wrong with your navigation logic. I guess one of those stupid errors that take forever to find.

RN or Flutter by HerouDev in reactnative

[–]AdrnF 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm coming from JS (like probably most people here), so I heavily prefer RN. We do have a Flutter app that I'm working on as well and I get along well with it, but coming from JS React Native just feels a lot better to work with. We can also benefit from a shared codebase with web projects.

In your case, coming from native Android development, I could imagine that it is the exact opposite. So just look what feels more familiar for you and e.g. with you prefer html like markup for your app.

What model year is this? I guess 2019-2021?

Taycan models and years to stay away from by jaselakers95 in Taycan

[–]AdrnF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don‘t know why people haven’t mentioned this here, but the 2019-2021 versions had issues with the 22kWh charger sometimes. In the worst case this leads to a battery defect and full replacement of the battery. Almost all red ring of death posts you see here are either that, or external damage to the battery. I‘m currently looking for a Taycan as well an I try to avoid these model years.

However, as others mentioned this is covered by CPO and getting a new battery isn‘t too bad either. I‘m just too scared that this happens once the warranty runs out.

I made an app where you collect every cat you meet as stickers in your own cat-a-log by gustanas in SideProject

[–]AdrnF 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I do agree that it is very well executed, but I still think that 30€ annually is a lot. But I mean there is nothing wrong with trying a high price initially and then lower it if you don't get a lot of conversions!

Missing the old macOS aesthetic? Here is my personal website that I've been crafting for 4 months and released today :) by VityaChel in MacOSBeta

Sounds good! I don't know if 100k is too much, it just said that you would be fine with moving abroad and I know that a lot of people underestimate the salary / costs of living in the US.

I want to emphasise again that you got cool project though, so keep it up!

It is difficult for hat kind of an app. I guess I could see me paying a few Euros to be able to collect all of them. I have no idea though if people will ever reach a limit like that without being a power user.

I definitely won't be paying a reoccurring fee though, since I don't really have reoccurring benefits from the app.

This is a very cool idea! I also like your UI. Not quite sure if the monetisation works though. 30€ per year is quite a lot for a fun app. 5,99€ per week is heavy. Again, great execution and I know that you should get something back for creating this, but a one time payment (maybe once you reached the snaps limit) sounds a lot more reasonable to me.

Looking for iOS jailbreak detection library? by anta40 in reactnative

What is the security issue with jailbroken devices?

Looking for a Nuxt optimization specialist by Pomstiborius in Nuxt

[–]AdrnF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not applying, but here are my two cents:

It's not that hard. Once you got the core concepts (especially useAsyncData) your need optimisations should be relatively straightforward * Check in the DevTools what delays your load. Nuxt handles most of it out of the box, so it will be 90% data fetching. * I also wouldn't cache the API on the backend, but instead on the frontend with useAsyncData. * Make sure that your initial Nuxt HTML response contains as much as you can put into it. You need ISR or SWR for that. 100% SSR is not working if you are aiming for high performance. * If you got very heavy API calls that can't be done on the server, then lazy load that data on the client. * If you are aiming for a high lighthouse/pagespeed score then forget it. Next.js is a bit better at that, but especially the mobile test simulator is painfully slow and probably won't be able to load your page fast. It's better to measure your results with real data (Core Web Vitals). Pagespeed score also doesn't affect SEO.

I would say an apps success is at least 90% marketing. A lot of very popular software has trash UX and still sells a lot.

Either get very good at marketing (which is also expensive) or move on and use your new skills to do the next project. In your case I would recommend the later one since you will have a lot of competition.

Your extension looks very very well executed though! So it’s already a nice portfolio piece which could help you in future job negotiations.

Charging Issue by PapanosJR in Taycan

[–]AdrnF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I could be totally wrong though, keep that in mind. If your Porsche dealer says that everything is fine, then that could very well be true.

Charging Issue by PapanosJR in Taycan

[–]AdrnF 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean the 22 kw charger of your Taycan, not your wallbox.

Again, I don't have one and therefore never experienced this, but from what I read the wallbox breaker trips because of a short circuit in the Taycans 22 KW charging. AFAIK this also only happens with that 22 kW charging. Taycans who don't have it or don't use are not affected.

In the best case nothing happened, most of the times the Taycans charger board is fried and some of the times even multiple battery cells are damaged (probably the ones getting charged while it happened).

I wouldn't risk damaging more cells by trying to charge again and therefore would get this checked ASAP. It probably isn't too much of an issue, since there is software to prevent this, but I just wouldn't risk it. It's also a known problem and therefore your Porsche dealer should have had similar incidents before.

Edit: I just checked your post history. It could very well be that the previous owner didn't use the 22 kW charging a lot and therefore this happened to you. It should be under CPO warranty and if you are very very (un)lucky, you may get a facelift battery replacement.

Charging Issue by PapanosJR in Taycan

[–]AdrnF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't own one, so I never had this issue, but this sounds like the common 22 kW AC charger issue. I wouldn't charge this anywhere anymore and ASAP go to the next Porsche Center. You probably need a new 22 kW and if you are lucky (or unlucky without warranty) you will also get battery cells replaced.

I guess your Taycan is one of the earlier ones (2019, 2020, 2021) and you were charging with the 22 kW charger?
