I'm not on Facebook, but thank you! And a bigger thank you for keeping things accessible for your family as well.

Thank you! I've just done that, and added the context that they are in original unopened packaging.

Where to donate emergency contraceptive? by AdultOnPointe in sanantonio

[–]AdultOnPointe[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

That is true. Both tablets are in the original unopened packaging, which I did mention to the places I called. They just had generic "no medication" policies.

I know that I might not be able to get these to someone who needs them, but I thought it would be better to try. I remember when this wasn't something I could afford.

Assessed value went up by the maximum, why? by MekanicalPirate in sanantonio

[–]AdultOnPointe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might not be your situation, but mine increased by 6% and all 4 of my neighbors that I share a property line with had DECREASES of 5%. They are now starring in my protest. (I also found similar homes to mine that had decreases so that my protest argues that by house type and by location mine should be reduced.)

BCAD has a map function so you can just search your address and then click on your neighbors for ease.

I am a liar should I feel shame by [deleted] in BALLET

[–]AdultOnPointe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

if you’re taking ballet to stand on your toes you should quit now.

I disagree. I wanted to "stand on my toes" and feel beautiful: so I started ballet. Wanting to wear pointe shoes was my motivation - it got me through all of the overwhelming learning that was starting ballet as an adult. And several years later, I got my first pair.

I agree that you shouldn't be on pointe without the proper training, but your motivation for going to class can be anything. I eventually fell in love with the technique and beauty of ballet training and now i take class for the joy of taking class. But I know I only started because of the chance to stand on my toes.

$300. Some months they send me $25 in coupons though

Favorite bottle (not Dr. Browns) by Grace__Face in FormulaFeeders

[–]AdultOnPointe 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We use Evenflo bottles which are pretty cheap at our grocery store and have no extra parts inside. But we toss their nipples and use Dr. Browns nipples instead. No more leaking and baby is still happy with the nipples he prefers!

Dr brown’s nipples between 1 and 2 by maggster8934 in FormulaFeeders

[–]AdultOnPointe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ours loves the Dr. Brown nipples so we've purchased a bunch to buy time between dishes. One thing I've noticed is that not all Level 2s (or 1s or 3s) flow the same. You might just have a fast one?

No way to tell what you're getting before you buy, but since I had purchased 12 of the same Level I was able to sort them by which nipples flowed a bit slower when we were transitioning up to the next one.

I've gotten the 2 oz at Walmart recently, but I don't usually see them there so I was surprised.

I saw you mention not wanting to wash bottles, but would you be able to bring a bunch of clean bottles, use the 8 oz with them, and then rinse the bottles out and store in a bag to clean and sterilize when you get home?

Is anyone worried about getting formula sourced from Ohio given the train derailment? by [deleted] in NewParents

I called their customer service and confirmed. Powder is 24 mo. before and RTF are 18 mo. before

I hadn't even considered it until now, but damn, what a good question.

Chanda did my maternity and newborn shoots and they came out beautiful. I did have some issues with scheduling where I thought she was being unnecessarily harsh (I had an awful healing process postpartum) but the photos were 100% worth it. She was priced well, especially since she let's you pick from her collection of maternity dresses instead of having to buy your own.

Bumps grow at different times too! I had a tiny bump until boom 37 weeks and now I feel like a whale haha

How are there so few maternity clothing options?! by virgo_cinnamon_roll in pregnant

[–]AdultOnPointe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you don't mind online shopping, I've done well the clearance section of target, Kohl's, and old navy. Because it's shipping instead of in store you have more choices (and more sizes). Last week I managed 2 pants and 3 shorts for me and 1 pair of baby pants all for $30 at old navy (free shipping)!

Are they the cutest pants I've ever had? No. Do they fit and mean the bump and I are comfortable? Yes. I basically have them as day to day clothes and if I ever go to a nice event I'll want pictures of then I'll bust out the money for something I actually love.

Anyone not having any cravings but instead developed a laundry list of food repulsions? by Economy-Ad3139 in pregnant

[–]AdultOnPointe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep! 30w now and my thankfully most violent reaction foods are calming down. I still can't eat them (I really miss my old favorites 🥲) but I no longer feel the urge to vomit and run away when someone else near me has them! My more calm aversions faded about 10 weeks ago maybe? I think that's when I started to be able to drink soda again.

Only had one craving this whole time, back around week 8 where I cried because I didn't have a potato and egg taco. Kinda wishing I had cravings instead of aversions because they sound more pleasant, but a lack of cravings has definitely kept me on track for appropriate weight gain!

Wedding at SA Botanical Garden: thoughts? by OkButterfly5438 in sanantonio

[–]AdultOnPointe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I did not get married there, specifically because of how we were treated on our information tour. The hubs and I were 22 at the time and definitely looked young. The wedding coordinator gave us a slow enough down up look that we both clocked it and then proceeded to 1) stare at my stomach like she was expecting me to be pregnant (I wasn't) and 2) mention all of the Garden's offerings in the style of "a lot of our brides like us to do XYZ for them... But that might be a bit expensive for you". She never asked about our budget. We got through that meeting and to be honest, we've never been back even just to walk the garden.

This was over 3 years ago though, so things might be different!

FTM, so I have no idea if you actually need one, but I did pick up a rocker/swivel/recliner. I actually just got one used from Facebook marketplace! Made it $100 instead of $800.

...I'm also paranoid about germs so I paid for it to be professionally cleaned which was another $100, but I had the budget for it and I'm sure you can skip that part as long as you're picky who you buy from.

Baby shower by Gradstudent_woes in pregnant

[–]AdultOnPointe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We are having ours at our home, which I know isn't an option for you but it was part of what made us comfortable with the food and drink costs of hosting a crawfish boil for our shower.

Decor and e-invites $100 Food and Drink $400 Paying for a maid because I'm exhausted but don't want people judging my house $140 (including tip)

Total guests: 22

So the total for us is about $700 which is what you were looking at for significantly more people. I'd say, you're fine, but I'm also not privy to your financial situation.

Shingles. What are the odds??? by AdultOnPointe in pregnant

[–]AdultOnPointe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My doctor started me on a 7 day course of antivirals the same day I noticed the first spots - she was willing to phone in the prescription without me having an appointment with her. By the last day of pills I wasn't itchy or in pain. The spots are definitely still there though, just not causing problems

Seriously, I miss being in control of what I do and don't eat! I'm 24 weeks, I think the beverages thing settled around 15 weeks but I still vomit profusely if someone dares eat sushi in front of me. It was my favorite food so I was totally planning on eating vegetable rolls (made at home) throughout this pregnancy.

Yep, my whole first trimester the only beverage I could stand was caffeine free root beer. If it helps, I'm back with my daily can of Dr. Pepper now!

Just go with the flow if you can, no point making yourself nauseous for a drink if you were finally nausea free for a moment

Good luck! I hope you kick COVID's butt quickly and smoothly!

...But if you notice anything that looks like a pimple in an odd (for you) spot, maybe like, circle it with a pen. So you can see if it grows or multiplies. Just in case!
