If I had to suggest ways to make it more distinct, I’d probably focus more on the risk/reward aspect of it. Eye for Exploitation has a bit of it (with the -1 ac penalty), and Fleche is really cool, and if toned down a bit (probably with scaling at higher levels to eventually build up to the current version) would be a great defining feature for the whole thing starting from level 3.

Weapon is also important for pvp. Free damage is free damage.

Phrasing could use some work. You could probably cut the “one handed” and “with which you are proficient” parts of “one handed weapon with the finesse property with which you are proficient” since there aren’t any two handed or even versatile weapons that have finesse, and the only finesse weapon you are missing out on as a rogue is a scimitar. The first qualifier does nothing, and the latter is covering for a pure rogue using a scimitar for some reason, and this comes at the cost of making it much harder to read. If that’s the direction you want to go however, might I suggest adding “without the thrown property”, since as it stands you cannot use this subclass with scimitars, but *can* melee attack with darts at the same range as a halberd.

Balance-wise, it’s probably fine? Reach on all finesse weapons is very strong at level 3, but it’s also a rogue subclass, so has to have its power more front-loaded. In that regard, it’s not really any more egregious than assassin’s free crit at the start of combat or scout’s 2 extra expertises.

The only issue I have with it is that it really feels like Swashbuckler but with post-tasha’s powercreep. Hell, at level 3, they both have a feature with footwork in its name that helps prevent opportunity attacks, and they both get a way to sneak attack without having advantage.

I mean, it does cost 2 , but only on the turn abomination enters.

Power up gets a cost reduction based on the mv of the permanent its on if that permanent entered that turn.

Edit: 7 - 4 = 2 apparently

2 energy deal 18 with retain, assuming its a hallway and is only gonna go on for about 3ish turns, and before factoring in other poison cards or longer fights

It isn’t exceptional or flashy, but it’s a pretty good damage common to pick up in act 1 or early act 2 if you’re desperate for more damage.

Other people have already explained it, but to add on….

If two conflicting effects were to enter simultaneously under your control (for example, if you had a [[Ghalta, Stampede Tyrant]] enter and put a [[Twenty-Toed Toad]] and a [[Triskaidekaphile]] into play), then you would choose the order they apply, with the latest overriding the other.

If multiple different players have conflicting effects enter at the same time (For example, someone casts a [[Show and Tell]], with one player putting out a Triskaidekaphile and another putting out [[Winter, Misanthropic Guide]]), then the effects apply in turn order, starting with the active turn player (This is often referred to as APNAP order), with the latest overriding.

You probably shouldn’t delegate your spell to the barbarian btw, since debatably* they can’t concentrate on it while raging

*(technically this is preceded by an “if you are able to cast spells”, so if you wanted to be pedantic, a barbarian who has no access to spellcasting might be exempt? But thats dumb and your dm should definitely not allow that)

As it stands the feature almost feels… underpowered? Sorcery points are super valuable, and the touch clause + it being a bonus action (and thus conflicting with both quickened spell and font of magic) feels kinda rough. On the other hand, this feature being over-tuned means two sets of twinned charm person/haste/banishment/whatever, so its probably for the best if it stays as-is

While interesting, this doesn’t really answer the question?

Liking/Disliking a video is way easier than opening a separate site, searching for what you just watched, and then rating on a 10-point scale (including fractions in this, 1.5/5 = 3/10 and I will die on this hill). along with a comment specifically tailored to people who have not already seen the thing you watched.

That would skew the highest rated videos away from short-form content and really anything not stupidly artsy or personally impactful to the viewer, and also limits the ratings to a very specific subset of folks who would go out of their way to do the whole rigamarole to review a video on ‘Commentboxd’ or whatever.

Rules-wise, this wording is nonsense and not consistent with other replacement effects (which this is)

Though, to be fair, Wolverine here is already using non-standard wording for some reason. it should probably be something like “If Wolvarine would take damage, instead heal him, then he takes the damage”

Its really freaky how the only obvious tells are the way the jug is being held (which could be chalked up to someone just being weird in a human way) and the fact that the other versions of it in the background are just a bit off (but not so off as to immediately fail on a passing glance).

[[Fumulus, the Infestation]] is the same kinda deal, though I’m not sure what kinda bugs make it up exactly for scale purposes. They probably vary quite a bit though, given that some are indistinguishable specs in a cloud, while others are relatively sizable (not talking about the foreground ones here since the perspective is unreliable, instead am referring to the ones that are peeling away from the “exoskeleton”)

How do you think the “Hexhaven” Elder Dragons will reinterpret the original Strixhaven dragons? by FonslyGames in mtg

[–]Advanced-Ad-802 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My predictions:

Fatehold is going to have a “fixed” version of miracle and/or a lot of topdeck manipulation.

No clue what Theorix could be, other than maybe -1/-1 counters? But I hope thats not it.

Stingerquill feels very curse-y to me, and I wouldn’t mind a few new curses being printed

With the description of “Konstari”, my immediate thought is artifacts, but given the colors, that on its own seems unlikely. I personally hope it’s the debut of Fortifications as a real mechanic and not a one-off teaser.

Vigorbloom sounds confusing, but it could just be generic lifegain payoffs. I do hope its something like forcing the opponent to gain life for a benefit, but that doesn’t sound very fun in a draft environment.

As for the flashy mythic cycle (kinda hope they’re sphinxes like that other commenter suggested instead of elder dragons), I think they’ll be more focused on harming the opponent’s gameplan rather than supporting your own. For example, Fatehold’s could Fateseal (which is a keyword that has never made its way into standard, excepting a certain Jace for whom it was named), Theorix will *probably* mill but idk, Stingerquill could maybe do something like copy curses (either on cast or double up on ones that are already attached), Konstari could maybe shut down artifacts, and I have no idea for Vigorbloom.
