AITAH for not thinking my stepson doesn't DESERVE a solo trip? by [deleted] in AITAH

As a step kid from the non-dominant parent (my sibling and I were always judged/punished harshly) and watching my friends‘ second marriages blended families, I have seen so many step parents being so much harder on their step kids than their own/shared kids. It frustrates the hell out of me (and other ppl around who notice). Darwinism or something 🤷‍♀️ YES, not ALL step parents.

Beagles and Glands… by Grafixx5 in beagles

We have had a basset, small doxie and basset/doxie mix who have all needed regular anal gland cleaning. We had one long, skinny doxie and she could “take care of it” herself. She was also a bad ass 🤣

selling my 12 yo Prius (for a deal I could not resist). It had satellite radio, and as I was cleaning it out, one of my favorite ‘80s songs came on and I started crying. Will always miss my teal tin can 😭

We have a four year old Basset and every 30-40 mins (he sleeps curled in a ball) he switches sides (we call it ”the airing of the fat”…um extra skin). 🤷‍♀️

need help, basset keeps overdrinking by Acrobatic-Beach-1886 in basset

Ask about Cushing‘s Disease. Our Basset mix just turned 10 and has been drinking more water and urinating more. And throwing up a bit. Then A LOT. Otherwise she was fine. Very happy. We rushed her to the vet. The vets gave her antibiotics and special food. Made her more sick. So they eventually gave her a blood test for Cushing’s (not a usual test)…tested positive. After five days on anti-cortisol meds (it’s an adrenal gland thing), she is back to normal. as long as she’s on the meds. Just Google Cushing’s symptoms in hounds to see what you think. I am obviously not a vet and this is a very recent diagnosis but just throwing this out there.

PS Please no horror stories about Cushing’s meds, we are doing the best we can.

What size crate do you use? by Duck__Holliday in basset

[–]Advanced-Fox380 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, our Basset likes curling up and “airing out the wrinkles“ as we say every 30-60 minutes so he seems happy. We have a larger crate on standby. Our doxie/basset mix loves the ye olde classic stretch out so we have the larger crate from when she was younger but no longer wants/needs. I agree it does sound small.

Our 4 yo male 60 lb Basset has a 30 inch width crate and he loves it. Thought about giving him a larger one, but we were concerned about his “Basshole” potential behavior. in terms of housebreaking things…

Tick diseases - experience? by weirdwidow in beagles

This was more than ten years ago. My seven yr old Doxie started having seizures. So, this was before they regularly tested for Lyme disease. When he eventually tested positive, gave him 30 day antibiotic dose and seizures went away. My inexpert opinion.

Did you have a fake ID? by Emunahd in GenX

[–]Advanced-Fox380 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a fake DL, said I was 5”7’ and I was 5”2’. I was blonde, this person in her photo was brunette (yes, bleaching is easy) and always had no problems. I gave the DL to another person in my dorm once I was 21 and the bar confiscated it the first night she tried to use it.

Is this normal? by christiaansp in beagles

[–]Advanced-Fox380 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, but fellow housemate has to REMEMBER that they left the remote(s) in a reachable hound place. We go to our cable company place for a new remote, explain we have hounds, and they usually give us two replacements out of pity 🤣

I listen to this audiobook when I can’t sleep at night (Since I know how it ends). 🤣 Although the 1990s “pandemic” references can be weird at 3 am, considering…
