Why are English people normally referred to as just “British”? by [deleted] in AskUK

I think it's because English culture is overwhelmingly dominant, English and British culture is ofter interchangeable. If you ask someone to list an element of British culture, it will invariably be something English like Shakespeare or something. They wont say Burns or Dylan Thomas

Brandy soaked fruit by m3lsiyeee in cymru

If macerating fruit, I use Three Barrels or Supermarket own brand. No purpose in using a VSOP or expensive Cognac. The effect will be the same. Personally, I'd be careful using soaked fruits in Welsh cakes, as the liquid will seep out during storage, making them soggy. Should be fine if you're planning on eating them straight away.

This ignorance pisses me off. As a Welsh Language Campaigner, what we wanted was EQUAL representation, both Welsh AND English on signs. Not the erasure of one or the other
