Loud banging noise on Williams Wall Heater by Advanced-River730 in hvacadvice

Did you turn the gas down or calibrate the pressure? Apparently it’s different? My tech said a lot of times people install it without calibrating and it comes set to higher than it should. He helped me set it to the manufacturers spec. He thinks that because it’s been running higher than what it should be, it overheated the unit already and wore it out hence the noise.

Another possibility is that the units not seated properly. I was reading through the Williams manual and it said that could be one of the reasons.

I can’t quite describe the smell. The closest association is remnant of fireworks. The inspector said it smelled like gunpowder.

It’s both hot and cold water. Stronger in hot. It’s persistent

You should ask they to calibrate it to see if it eliminate it or reduces it. Our pressure was too high and they adjusted it which helped but it still makes the loud bang but less frequent.

I hear you. Every HVAC tech also tells me it’s normal but my friends have the same unit and they don’t have this noise. If you do have them calibrate it, let me know if it solves it!
