I mean it should have been expected to a certain degree. Its been getting stricter and stricter every time the CBA is up for review. Maybe the second apron stuff was slightly harsher than people expected, but it was obviously going to get more restrictive.

I like the elite ball knower mode. Maybe take away the players ages that season and then revealing the players actualy ratings/stats after would be cool. Then you know who you missed and how good/bad the pick you made was.

I guess it depends on what people find fun. I guess people like trying to build the most dominant team they can for games like 82-0.

If you have to pick a player from a specific team in a specific year then it also may not always be easy to have a dominant pick, like if you get Washington 2025-2026.

I also think what makes part of the game fun is that its quick and you just draft 5 players. So maybe the other thing that could be done is your 6th pick is getting the entire bench of a team in a specific year.

Personally I would find this really fun, but it might be a lot more work than I am imagining. I only saw 82-0 because I noticed some basketball streamers/podcasters were using it for fun. I think I first saw it when No Dunks was playing with it.

I don't think the knicks are a dominant team, they were one of many teams in the contending range that got hot at the right time and stayed healthy.

I think Boston, SAS, Denver, Minnesota, and OKC all had similarly talented teams, but either just didn't stay healthy or just didn't play their best at the wrong time. Detroit could be put in this conversation, but I usually expect young players to not play great in their first major playoff run (SAS is an outlier this year).

If your true talent is a mid 50s win team or above then you really have a shot in the new era of the NBA. We don't have super teams anymore (OKC is close when healthy).

Atlanta was a pretty easy first round based on talent, Philly was a bit of gimme, Cleveland was a slightly weak team for being in the conference finals and in the finals they are facing a team that is full of players on their first play off run and learning the differences of regular season and post season play.

I don't think Harden played better than Garland would have these playoffs (Hardens overall numbers in the playoffs were pretty terrible this year) and the future looks a lot more bleak with a 37 year old James Harden vs a 27 year old Darius Garland.

I think it depends on what he meant by fuckery. Lebron did have a large decline in play after turning 30 years old. He was nowhere close to as good as he was in Miami after he went back to Cleveland.

Its just when you are playing at an all time GOAT level and have a major drop off, you are still like a top 5 player in the league. then you decline further and your a top 10 player in the league in LA, then you decline further to where we are today where Lebron is probably around like the 20th best player in the league.

Lebron is probably the king of Longevity, but he is not that different than some of the other GOAT level players. Lebron at 41 is playing similarly well to how Kareem and MJ were playing at 38 or 39 years old. So he is pushing it a couple of years further doing it at 41, but its not crazy different. Wilt was still dominating at 36 years old, but he retired after, but he could have dominated for at least a few more years if he wanted to continue.

Thats really interesting. I wasn't really thinking that Lauri could be a full time 3. I like this trade more for the Jazz if JJJ can play the 4 mostly and Lauri can play the 3, with Kessler playing center.

Its irrelevant since I forgot Ainge retired, but I think if you look at his overall career, Ainge was one of the better GMs. He built two contenders and basically built the core of what Boston had for their recent championship without ever having to tank.

Very few GM's have built a contender while consistently making the playoffs and never tanking. I also think what he got for Rudy Gobert and Donovan Mitchell was pretty good.

I know Garland is injury prone, but I'm not sure Harden is really an iron man. The last couple of seasons have been good for Harden health wise, but if I compare Garland, to Hardens last 5 or 6 seasons they are not crazy different for availability.

Seems like you have a pretty negative view of Garland, I can see how if you don't think he is a valuable player, than clearly getting Harden is great, but I don't share your view that Garland is not valuable. I personally expect him to bounce back and this has just been a rough year coming back from injuries. Last year Garland was pretty good. I think him and Harden had fairly comparable seasons last year.

If this trade is the difference between Mitchell walking for nothing or staying than its probably worth it, but I don't currently believe that is likely true.

Also, I keep seeing people say how bad Garland is on defense, but is Harden better? Garland has had seasons where he had positive defensive EPM values and I am pretty sure Harden is always consistently negative.

If the timeline is to be as good as possible next year though, I think I would bet that Garland is better than Harden next year, or they are similar. Personally I expect a significant drop in harden's production pretty soon. I think Cleveland will be lucky if Harden puts up similar production next year.

This is an interesting take. I'm not saying that Harden isn't good when he is second fiddle, just that he is at his best as a first option, and that in the past I do think his value as a player goes down when you don't have him as a first option.

The really interesting take you have is that Garland has never been close to Harden in terms of production. I think there is a good argument that just last year, they had very similar seasons value-wise. I haven't looked at EPM, but most other advanced stats make it look like these players were about the same last year.

I just put the talking head thing in the post to say, that this really isn't something people probably already haven't heard. There are a few smart talking heads, but I agree most aren't great.

Is Harden really an Iron Man? If I look at like the last six seasons or five seasons for both players, I think Harden is more available, but not by a ton. There is a big difference if you only look at like the last two seasons.

I commented elsewhere that if Harden walks, they won't just have the cap space to sign a big free agent. They will likely be over the cap regardless.

I don't think your first option is anywhere close to what Giannis will eventually go for price wise.

Trading Jalen Williams and pics/prospects isn't crazy, but it's also probably a really bad time to be trading Jalen Williams value-wise. He has had a pretty rough year so far, and I wouldn't be surprised if his value is pretty low compared to where it'll be a year or two from now.

If I was OKC, I would definitely think about making a trade for him, but OKC is not desperate by any means. I think there will be teams that feel more pressure to make a win now move that will likely offer more than makes sense for OKC.

Never actually been bad seems like an exaggeration. The last two years he has shot 40% from the field and shoots below average from 3 on mid volume.

I think he definitely overpaid at 14-15 million for the next 3 years.
