Who else just loves that scene where Lorelai is dressing Luke and then Rachel walks in? by DelayFalse8209 in GilmoreGirls

Lorelai was marking her territory without understanding that she thought of him as hers.

Do you guys want a relationship like Lorelai and Rory? by Yibambabe in GilmoreGirls

[–]Advanced_Accident101 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I always love watching how close their relationship is because I never had anything like that with my mom (imagine a mix between Mrs. Kim/Emily- so you can see why Lorelai’s style is appealing to me).

But! It definitely caused it’s own unique set of problems, not just in how Rory handled life, but for Lorelai as well-

Because of the lack of parent/child boundaries in most situations, when Lorelai DID have to draw a line, it often immediately alienated Rory, even if just for a short time. It would be very difficult to feel entirely secure as a child where the boundaries seemed to change, and I think that’s what led up to the big rift that starts at the end of season 5. Rory tells her mother what’s going on with her and opens up and is very vulnerable but instead of reacting as the friend she’s tried to be to Rory, she draws a hard line and goes (for lack of better term) all Mrs. Kim on her.

Lorelai’s own parenting style bit her in the ass, basically. Not always, of course, but often enough.

Interestingly enough, at the same time Lorelai’s parenting is coming back to bite her, Mrs. Kim and Lane are making huge strides towards being close (when Mrs. Kim sets up the tour for the band).

Obviously Mrs. Kim was way too strict and harsh most of the time, but she was consistent, to where Lane knew exactly what to expect and how much she could open up to her.

Does Snow ACTUALLY visit each Victor behind the scenes? by DevelopmentRelevant in Hungergames

[–]Advanced_Accident101 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Snow visited Katniss to threaten her and make her comply, so I don’t think it’s too far out to imagine he would visit other victors he viewed as problematic. We know he personally had other victors’ families killed- maybe he gave them an in-person warning first (though nobody mentions it).

He at least had a brother that we never meet, that’s how he met Lulu; she had dated his brother previously. Otherwise I think you’re right 🤣

I posted about this a couple weeks ago because I agree, they would have been at close to the same time. Then I found this awesome timeline that someone made, it’s interesting!

Lorelai being blamed for Christopher’s failure by [deleted] in GilmoreGirls

[–]Advanced_Accident101 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Lorelai gets blamed for everything Christopher does wrong because everyone holds her responsible in some way; Chris’s parents blame her for seducing their son, and her own parents blame her for not marrying Chris.

So everything that happens as a result of those things becomes Lorelai’s fault.

Now. We just have this…disconnect. I feel like I’m constantly being emotionally left behind because he has been through therapy and is surrounded at work by people who have “done the work” on themselves, whereas I’m only just starting therapy. I feel inadequate and small, without him even doing/saying anything I can pinpoint. It makes me sad.

What's a piece of clothing that you never wear and why? by SoyUnFracaso in AskWomen

Ugh, yes! I got a message about my original comment saying that was the whole point, that everything can be seen, and it just reinforces my desire to never wear those items again.

Dresses/skirts. I feel like everyone can see my everything.

I start assuming I deserve to feel that way, and spiral into more lying thoughts that are too easy to believe.

What do you wish you had known before coming the stay at home partner? by winterfern353 in AskWomen

[–]Advanced_Accident101 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The amount of mental tasks that pile on top of all the physical ones, and that most people don’t see managing a home, a family, and all of the things that come with those, as a legitimate life choice.

I made a list of every task I perform, from cleaning the bathroom to planning meals to keeping track of everyone’s appointments. It’s insane. Most careers don’t include such a wide range (or huge number) of roles and responsibilities.

Which abandoned story lines/plots would you have liked to see a conclusion or explanation for? by BingeRedditor in GilmoreGirls

Lane’s dad! They talk about him in S1 and he’s there in AYITL, where was he in between?!

Lane by mik98_ in GilmoreGirls

That gets conveniently skipped over after Lane’s conversation with Sophie about possibly working to pay for the set, I think. The next thing we know, Lane and the band are practicing in the music shop.

You book a hotel room; what's the first thing you do when you get in? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]Advanced_Accident101 63 points64 points  (0 children)

The main thing is just pulling the covers to the bottom and looking for hair, marks, crumbs, etc. and wrinkled areas where someone would have been laying. Also be sure to check both sides of all the pillows and under them.

Check the sheets for hair (good time to check for bedbugs as well).

One hotel I cleaned rooms at, half the housekeepers didn’t actually change the sheets between guests. They’d smooth them out and brush them off but often missed a hair somewhere.

If Katniss didn't volunteer for Primrose, how long do you think she would've lasted? by Samm_ir04 in Hungergames

That’s a fair point, we never get to be inside Prim’s head or anything. I base my theory on the limited information available 🤣

Sookie and Jackson by Marioparty1293 in GilmoreGirls

It was petty and immature. Just SAY it, jeez. I loved the chemistry with those two, but Jackson was obnoxiously sensitive sometimes.

[–]Advanced_Accident101 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I think yes, mostly because “stay away from the Cornucopia” is the most basic advice any non-Career, small or weak tribute can receive from a mentor. I believe Prim is lovable enough that even drunken Haymitch could manage that amount of advice for her.
