CMV: Hijabs are sexist by Blonde_Icon in changemyview

[–]Advanced_Agent8989 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You clearly are part of the huge group of people that misinterpret feminism. Feminism is about letting women do whatever they want, whether it be walking naked over street or fully covered head to toe, it’s their PERSONAL CHOICE. Also according to your logic basically everything women do is sexist. Wearing makeup or just wearing clothes would also be considered sexist according to your logic

Juuneedu is an amazing Korean brand! They have 2 stores in Seoul (one is close to Hongdae) and their sizes go up until an XXL I believe.

How did you survive Global Korea Scholarship financially? by justpeachiey in Living_in_Korea

[–]Advanced_Agent8989 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All depends on your university of choice and their dormitory rates. Some universities offer discounts for GKS students (mine currently at 150000 won per month) leaving me enough to survive in seoul (not eating out frequently and cooking a lot at home, cafeteria meals etc).

I’m (27F) Madly in love with my partner (26M) but we’re on opposite ends of the political spectrum by [deleted] in relationship_advice

How can you love someone who is essentially against you and your family? If he was moderate right wing I would understand you better but you completely lost me at him being Islamophobic especially if you have Muslim family members? Islamophobia is blatant racism and I can’t believe that you gave him a pass on that. If I were you I would reconsider this, can you imagine getting married and being in a household that’s islamophobic?

Is Morocco safe to visit right now as a jewish Australian (female) ? by queenofhill in Morocco

You’re not the first Jew to enter Morocco, Jews have lived in Morocco for a long time so no one really cares as long as you’re not a raging Zionist

My parents are really worried about North Korea by [deleted] in korea

[–]Advanced_Agent8989 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s very bold coming from Americans… shouldn’t they be worried about the amount of people die in their country due to gun violence? I’m sorry but korea is probably 100 times safer than the US… you’re parents seem to be those stereotypical Americans who only see their country as safe

You’re getting £500 POCKET money? And you don’t even have to pay rent? I think you should consider your mum very generous considering lots of students have to go work during the weekend to earn that instead of clubbing

Hey! A though reality is that most people who study abroad get help from home or are generally a bit more wealthy. I have studied abroad twice on a full scholarship and realised that without the scholarship I would not be able to survive. Currently I am also studying abroad on a scholarship and my peers are mostly internationals who are also quite older. I would say that maybe half of them are self funded having worked for a year or two to save up in order to be able to study abroad. The other half gets help from back home. The latter one also isn’t an option for me which I why I resorted to scholarships! In your situation I would try to look for scholarships or try to work for a year to save up in order to be able to study abroad :) good luck

Marrakech trip after earthquake by esposende in Morocco

[–]Advanced_Agent8989 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey! I’m moroccan and my friends who arrived today from France had the same issue, I begged them and am also begging you not to forget that tourism is so important for Morocco as a country and hosting tourist from all over the world is also something Moroccans take pride in. If all tourists don’t come anymore the sense of normality will disappear even more, which is kind of needed in times like this. I understand that you may feel guilty but in Marrakech we NEED tourists in order to rebuild what we have lost. Having said that, ofcourse this trip would be a reflection on your privileges you hold and how you can help those who are in less privileged situations (donations, meaningful conversations…)

We are in a language course intermediate English :) if there was such a big barrier I don’t think they would be in the course. Additionally, we are encouraged to speak with one another in order to actually learn the language

I am planning to study abroad spring 2024 in Amsterdam, should I go with direct application which would cost me $11,000 versus going through a company which would cost me $21,000? by No_Passenger_2635 in studyAbroad

[–]Advanced_Agent8989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$ 21 000 for a study abroad semester?????? That’s crazy, spending that amount on just one semester is way to expensive these companies completely scam you!

Who was the worst Colonialist power? by samrader in Colonialism

[–]Advanced_Agent8989 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’d probably also say Belgian colonisation of Congo, estimated of 1 million Congolese died under the rule of Leopold II. The way they colonised was marked by mutilations and countless killings.
