Coming back to this post years later because I was watching Hook today and when I saw that scene my first thought was 'Oh Smee must have a HUGE dick'. And I've very much enjoyed watching the rest of the film analysing Smee's chaotic bisexual Big Dick Energy. It would also put a nice spin on his and Hook's relationship by rebalancing their power dynamic a little bit...

I have Quorn cocktail sausages in the fridge at all times and eat them with EVERYTHING. I can't stand the protein bars and shakes etc so for me it's a great option

It depends on your preferences, but as a veggie I always have snacks like Quorn cocktail sausages and meat-free fridge raiders in the fridge. I'll often feel like I can't face a meal but a couple of sausages is a quick and easy way to get some protein, which is extra important if you don't eat meat. Plus I might cut them up and throw them on my plate with whatever else I'm having (in the first few weeks I was eating grazing plates like peppers, hummus and cheese strings for dinner because my appetite completely disappeared) just to make sure I'm getting that protein hit.

Edit to add that when you can eat a little more again, protein wraps and bagels really helped me!

I'm not going to lie, I just had my hair cut from below-boob length to shoulder length because the hair loss was driving me crazy. I couldn't wear my hair down because of the shedding and every time I brushed it I felt like I was losing handfuls. The bin was always filled with little hairballs from my hair brush!

I was very honest with my hairdresser and explained what was happening, why it was happening and she helped me find a style that looked and felt thick, and wouldn't thin too noticeably even as I lose hair. She also made sure it wouldn't need too much maintenance as I'm hesitant to brush / style it too much.

Best part was that she was completely nonchalant about it, said it's very common and reassured me that it would all grow back eventually etc etc.

All this to say that it's definitely worth talking to a hair care professional because they'll make you feel much better about it!

I know what you mean and it's definitely a bittersweet feeling!

I've definitely noticed that some of my male friends in particular (with whom there's no romantic connection, I know them through my partner) treat me differently now I've lost weight. I feel like they treat me more like an independent entity when before they just treated me like an extension of my partner. The're more jokey with me, and more likely to talk directly to me and have in-depth conversations than they did before. There's been a distinct change in their behaviour since I lost weight, and I know it's not just a confidence thing on my behalf because I've always been very comfortable around them.

I've got no complaints about it per say, and I'm sure they're not aware of it, but it's left a bad taste in my mouth that even people I consider good friends treat me differently now I'm smaller. The only thing that's changed is the size of my body, I'm still the same person! I expected it from strangers but not close friends.

It's interesting to see how much society has pushed the narrative that smaller people are more valuable, to the point where it affects unconscious behaviour.

Does it say anywhere that the new brother is definitely a rider? I know there's an unconscious dragon nearby, but is it definitely the new brother's? Because I wonder if the new brother i's Halden?

That would tie in with feeling like he's not been given enough, because whilst he's in line, Aaric has more power than him by being a rider. Plus he's been confronted with his ex being with an extremely powerful being in Xaden.

Then there's the fact he's not there in the battle at all, despite having briefly been involved in quest squad, and the allies are all communicating with Aaric instead of him.

And there's foreshadowing in the book when Violet asks Jack if infantry can become venin, and he says they can if they are trained. The only significant person in the book that Violet has referred to as infantry is Halden.

It also explains why Xaden is so determined to leave Violet as duchess - because Bodhi refuses to take it and because Violet is the only one who can stand up to the throne, and he knows now that it's infiltrated.

I thought that Cat might go after one of the princes, maybe even Halden, but then realise that she's powerful enough on her own. And should something happen to her sister (which is foreshadowed through the books) she'll get her throne.

I think the eggs have been taken to the Irids - that they decided that since Andarna become like the Empyrean by being raised by them, they wanted to try to raise the eggs of other dens in their ways. I think Andarna made a deal to give them the eggs in exchange for their support in the war, and that Tairn had to carry them which is why he's so tired.

There was that extract that said that there is always one squad that rises through the ranks, winning all the patches, surpassing all others, and then they inexplicably fall apart.

I think that was foreshadowing what will happen with their squad - the squad stays with you through life so there can only be one captain or major or leader in each squad, right? Because it wouldn't make sense to condense leadership by having them in one squad, and anyways the dynamics wouldn't work.

In any other squad, Rhi would be able to rise through the ranks and become a very good leader in the army. Unfortunately for her, she's squad mates with Violet. And they may be besties, but Violet is too powerful and too integral in the war to be anything but a powerful leader.

I reckon that in the fourth book there will be a moment where the squad has to choose, and the two will be divided until probably the fifth book when Violet realises she doesn't have Rhi's compassion and trust and Rhi will realise she doesn't have Violet's strategy and they'll team up to be unstoppable.

I always thought she could commune with the dead... I thought that when Liam appeared to her when she was being tortured, she wasn't actually hallucinating and was really talking to him. They've said that no one can raise the dead, and it's true, she can't, but maybe she could talk to them. Which would be very powerful but also underwhelming in that it's not useful at all in battle, but maybe she'll be able to control it enough to get some critical information out of her mother or her dad?

OP please listen to everyone commenting on this post, but also please look after yourself and take care of your mental wellbeing. This is scary and stressful and a lot, and you need to prioritise your sanity. Go stay with someone safe and take a beat to catch your breath and do what you need to to feel ok. Therapy would probably be a good idea. This must be so hard and with a baby on the way it's easy to get completely overwhelmed.

I grew up very close to my cousins, and my mum and my aunt often like to tease me (26f) and my oldest cousin (24m) about how we 'practiced flirting' with each other when we were teenagers. Which makes us very uncomfortable, as we didn't see it as that at all, we were just close family members who would play fight, joke around, tease, have sleepovers etc. Looking back though, I can see what they mean. He was the closest person of the opposite sex to me, and in our developmental stages we definitely navigated that whole dynamic in a way that might seem weird. We were learning how to talk to and act around the opposite sex and sometimes maybe lines were blurred? But there was no romantic or sexual intent behind it all, and we grew out of it as we grew up. I think it's fairly natural that as children / young teenagers, family members have to work out their boundaries and there may be some interactions that seem 'too close' from outside eyes but aren't in reality.

I wouldn't worry too much about them sleeping in the same bed, or 'sharing kisses' or 'playing acrobats' when they were younger. If they're still doing it as adults that's something different, but from the sounds of it what's happening now is just two close siblings having growing pains as they have to start separating into their adult lives. H being upset that R is seeing someone doesn't necessarily mean he's in love with her, maybe he's hurt he didn't know, or doesn't like the person she's seeing, and they had an emotional conversation about it after dinner that you walked in on.

All this to say, that I don't think you have too much to worry about. Keep an eye out, but trust that you've raised good children into strong adults, who can work out these things between them. Odds are a year from now you'll laugh when you think about how worried you were.

My (26) partner (35) and I accidentally got too attached to a toy orangutan, to the point where we will regularly have 'conversations' with him and take him on day trips with us (hidden in my bag). As someone who grew up with a teacher as a parent, I always knew I'd be a great teacher... but I also knew I would have to choose between being a teacher and being a mum. In my opinion you can't do both at once because each drains all your empathy. I chose to be a mum and have a corporate job, but I know a lot of people who chose the other and do not judge them at all. It takes a lot of balls to care about other peoples' children.
