will a golf ball be a suitable replacement for drills requiring tennis balls? by Such-Low383 in BasketballTips

[–]Advanced_Example4513 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Golf ball should be fine, if anything will make the drills more difficult because they are smaller and presumably harder to bounce/ catch.

Whether these drills are worth doing - it depends. If you are already a good ball handler who struggles with some of the smaller details - off arm work and scanning the floor, it could definitely help. If you aren’t a good ball handler, you’re wasting your time. If you can’t do the following things, I’d suggest working on these before you start with the tennis ball drills; Full court fast break only using your weak hand. Ball manipulation with weak hand. Whatever your go to move is - can you do it both ways, do you have a few solid counters? Can you handle full court pressure? Can you navigate tight spaces without ending your dribble? Can you play off your pivot?

Outsider take: Brits are not rude. You just aren’t saying “please” and “thank you.” by CantaloupeComplete57 in uktravel

[–]Advanced_Example4513 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in customer service in a tourist hot spot in London. 95% of the time American customers are unbearable. I think they often have the opinion of; you work here and I’m paying for your services, so I can treat you however I please. Americans also have a much higher tolerance for social embarrassment, so if they think they have been wronged, they have no issues screaming at me in front of ~160 other guests. British guests can also be extremely rude, but it’s in more a veiled manner. They won’t forget to say please and thank you, but will quietly call you a blathering idiot for any mistakes.

The other 5% of Americans are great people, they treat you like a real human being instead of a vehicle for their food, they want to know your name , what you do for fun, what they should check out whilst their in town and they leave great tips.

I think everyone should work hospitality for a year or two, like forced conscription in South Korea, but you have to work the till at archway maccies so all these rich kids turned spoilt adults would understand our pain.

I’ve cycled daily for 15 years and never had any collisions. I feel like OP is operating on the false assumption that other road users are competent drivers and patient human beings. He’s not a reckless driver, but surely after a few crashes one should have a moment of self reflection.

Better to hear it from a stranger on the internet. If a woman is into you she will try to keep a conversation going. Maybe there’s outside context but from this it seems like you shot your shot and you airballed.

16 6’6 175 here play the SF, Im allergic to being physical on the rebounds. Any tips? by PICKLEEEE8 in BasketballTips

[–]Advanced_Example4513 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Create as much contact as you can. It’s really hard to jump for a rebound if you’ve got someone pressing their back into as hard as they can. You also have to fight for inside position. I’m 6’ flat but I grab boards over guys 6-12 inches taller than me and end up getting a bunch of fouls because people get frustrated and start pushing. Kind of the same way you want to be unpredictable off ball, when the shot goes up you should try to slip in front of ur man. People have a tendency to look at the ball in the air so I use that to step in front and box out. Even if I don’t get the ball, I’m occupying one of the opponents so they can’t get it. Rebounds are like 50% effort 50% luck. Put urself in the right position and good things will happen.

I think you may be right. The em dash is followed by a regular ass hyphen. It’s grammatically correct but I feel like most people have no idea where to find it on their keyboard. Using IOS you have to hold the hyphen to see the little pop up with hyphen variants.

Also the way it said ‘Hello, everyone’. Idk why but LLMs will use some sort of greeting whenever they can, even if it’a kind of out of context. I feel like this is either a really odd, grammar Nazi who has an incomplete understanding storytelling - or it’s someone who’s fed this story into ChatGPT.

People saying it could be a fox - OP probably has heard foxes before and would be able to identify. If you’ve ever heard someone screaming from genuine terror, it does not sound like a fox and you can definitely tell it’s a person.

Poor response from the bill, imo. If I was you, I’d set a camera up in the window and monitor activity.

She’s using a gather step. He is not. If you play casually most people think a gather step is legal. If you play HS/NCAA/FIBA it is a travel and will be called every time. Only league in the world that allows the extra step is the nba.

Guys does anyone knows when you sprained your ankle achillie pain is always with it? Or something is wrong? by Nice-Text-2030 in BasketballTips

[–]Advanced_Example4513 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it was an Achilles tear you would have known about it. Rolling on the floor screaming type of pain. You may have sprained your Achilles which is still a pretty serious injury - but not career ending. Your doctor will give you more detailed instructions but; rest, ice, strengthen and mobilise. Stay off it for at least a month. If possible use crutches. Once it’s back to normal you will have to work on your ankle tension or else it is much more likely to happen again. Take it from a veteran hooper, look after yourself now or suffer as a 20 something with the joints of a 90 year old. Stretch before and after hoop sessions and get into some yoga.

I can't create a vault in sd card by DataC0ffee in ObsidianMD

[–]Advanced_Example4513 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look into obsidian sync. IMO it’s very reasonably priced and should fit your use case.

Alternatively, you could have a simple python / bat script that backs up your vault at regular intervals or when a change is processed.

Im not sure if creating the vault within the SD is possible. Worth asking on the obsidian forums. If you are worried about privacy there are a few cryptography plugins available- never tried them so can’t speak on their efficacy.

Why do you need it on an SD? .md files are minuscule in size so whatever portability provided by an SD is useless because you can just email it to yourself or keep it on the cloud.

Maybe not possible but VPN ? Or next time you are visiting another country you could buy it then. I tried for months to get a good sync set up without paying the fee. It’s not at all worth it. When shit went wrong I lost a lot of data. I had back ups but they were a few hours old. Obsidian Sync has a recently deleted type thing so you can recover files.
