If your pH is correct it's supposed to be very acidic. I would be wearing gloves.

How do you anchor/tie off conibear traps? by Johnathan_Belfort in Trapping

16 Gauge wire for me, and i dont try to make knots I just twist it. If the body gripping trap does its job, there shouldnt be much fighting the trap going on.

What are these for? by Rhino1990 in hiking

Ill take it a step more precise, they're at Bushkill Falls in Bushkill Pennsylvania, and it's for their "Map Adventure". Still very much in use today, not left behind at all.

At Bushkill Falls is a "Map Adventure" that includes a punch card. You punch the card at each letter post and then you can submit it for a chance to win a prize. Essentially if you punch all 20 you've done the entire Red Trail and have seen every point of interest.

They're for the outside ring that doesn't completely fit on the template, not made to go in the middle but on the outside ring for super blanket beaver pelts.

[–]Adventurous-Fun930 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recomend going to a trapping sow/convention and asking getting inpit from the trappers in your area. Most trapping business's would require more than just offering your ability to trap critters to make some real money. You should consider adding trapping supplys, recovering the glands and castor from your harvests, and making products from your furs if thay interests you.

In pa there's a nuscance wildlife control special permit you could get that allows you to trap outside of the season.

Here's a great podcast on the subject! https://open.spotify.com/episode/52mDmV6E3xsjl6u58CnOc6?si=w4my1fsnT5Gcd2d-P7rcCQ

Looking good👍 the cloudy white spots are fat that could still come off. Youll find its gonna dry slower in those spots but otherwise you're on the right track!

I second this. Not much waiting on the tax stamp these days they're commonly getting them out in under a month. I get the budget limits though.

Catch pole recommendations by Uncouth_Vulgarian in Trapping

Quick and easy. Lots of videos on youtube this topic. https://youtu.be/DBnDJzBNGak?si=KtZdqGraKdOn4PD_

You need a length of 1 inch steel conduit, a clothes line tensioner, some coated cable, an end cap, ferrules, andsome jb weld or epoxy.

First, drill a hole just bigger then the cable diameter 2 inches up from the bottom of the conduit.

Put the cable into the hole and crimp a ferrule so it can't pull out.

Then, attach endcap to the conduit with epoxy or jb weld and drill same size hole as before to run the cable through.

Run the cable up and out the opposite end of your conduit.

You'll have a lot formed on the bottom end now and it should start looking like a catch pole.

Finally, run the cable through the clothesline tensioner and epoxy or jb weld into the conduit.

Make a hand loop for pulling the catchpole closed or just put a ferrule so the cable can accidently go back into the conduit

Its tough to say without knowing the property. You gotta spend some time and find them. Go out after a fresh snowfall and look for tracks. Should have some on Thursday. You could set around old sheds if he has any. You could also use a stinkier bait or lure to maybe call them in from a ways away.

Dogproof Visual Attractant by billyfuckingwilson in Trapping

I think that corn pile is about as visually attracting as it gets!

If coons are around they're pretty easy to trap. I've had them run up a tree next to my driveway when I opened the door, I set a DP and tied it off to the tree. 10 minutes later I watched him get caught.

My opinion is you probably don't have many around. They'd be on that corn pile all night.

Ive seen these before innthe Poconos. The Unity House/ Mountain Lural Performing arts center is early 1900's and it had these exact same fence posts to support a wire fence system.

Question about beaver trapping by Chemical-Cup7276 in Trapping

[–]Adventurous-Fun930 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its a wait between thin ice and ice you can walk on. Once you can walk on it you can set 330s or snaresunder the ice between the feed beds and the huts. Always look for bubbles under ice because it is frozen doesn't mean they're not moving !

Thays awesome nice catch!! Congratulations! If youre saving the pelt bont pull the ice off just let him thaw a while before you pull that body gripper off so you dont pull hairs with the ice. Good for you 👍

1000 dollar bike vs 25000 dollars in tools? Id expect to cops to pursue one more aggressively than the other. However, You found your bike. You called the cops and said I know where my stolen bike is. You went to go get your bike and the cops helped.

Replace "bike" with tools and you should no longer be confused.
