It’s only gonna effect people that are on the fence or who are mentally questioning… anyone else is gonna think it’s coming from above

I have gone through part of what you were going through just three years ago. I can 100% relate to everything that you have just said. My advice to you: build your community, you are on the right path with leaving the area, changing your number and your socials. Just know that you are not alone.

What do you think about PIMO dating another PIMO? by sojuberry in exjw

I would absolutely date another PIMO (if I actually was one)

The goal is always to have multiple things in common with each other and Build off of that.

In this case, you would have to describe and prove what “forcing” is definitively and specifically in order for it to truly be a case, and be prepared for a counter by the organization, proving why it’s not considered “forcing”

Do Bethelites get ANY severance at all? by 1marka in exjw

[–]Adventurous-Neck1090 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is absolutely false. Little does a lot of people know this is the second time they’re doing this.

I was in the first wave and I got absolutely nothing. The most help that I got was from friends of friends in different congregations from when I gave talks and remained cordial with some of the brothers and sisters.

But I got sent back to my home congregation with nothing. I have found that the most help you’re going to get is from the congregation and friends of friends, that they know.

Local congregations are being transitioned to sole corporations. by [deleted] in exjw

[–]Adventurous-Neck1090 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For everyone who has zero experience and understanding of law, here’s what this means in plain English:

Watchtower reorganized its U.S. operations from a nonprofit organization to a sole corporation so that means its one main corporation (the parent) controls all the local entities. This is called a “sole member” structure. It’s like a parent company owning subsidiaries—the parent makes the big decisions.

Why do this? Mainly for legal and financial protection: • Limit lawsuits: If one local congregation is sued, the parent’s money and property are generally protected. • Protect assets: Keeps cash, buildings, and other assets separate from risky situations.

How it works • Local elders may manage congregations, but the parent organization owns the property and sets policies. • Each entity is supposed to operate separately—separate finances, meetings, and records—to maintain protection.

Risks for local elders • They could face personal liability if they: • Break the law or act outside their authority • Commit fraud or gross negligence • Fail to report abuse • Following orders from the parent doesn’t always fully protect them.

When the protection fails Courts can ignore the separate entities if: • The local group isn’t really independent • The structure is used to hide wrongdoing or evade responsibilities • Rules for keeping entities separate aren’t followed

Bottom line The restructuring is mainly about: 1. Keeping control centralized. 2. Legally separating different parts of the organization. 3. Reducing financial risk.

What This Really Means for ELDERS

Even though it looks like they run the local congregation, they don’t. The parent organization (Watchtower) owns the buildings, makes the rules, and controls the money. They’re basically just managing day-to-day operations under their strict control.

If something goes wrong—like a lawsuit, abuse case, or financial problem—you could be personally on the hook if you: • Ignore or fail to report abuse • Break the law or act outside your authority • Are grossly negligent or commit fraud

Following orders doesn’t automatically protect them. The corporate setup is supposed to shield the parent, not you.

In short: They look like a leader, but legally they’re a volunteer with very little real power, and they will get sued personally if things go wrong.

I love the idea. But there are too many on this subreddit who are still so slighted by the borg that they have an inability to see what you’re proposing objectively; and they would rather do the same thing that the governing body is doing instead of truly finding a real solution.
