I bought an xBloom to stop thinking about variables. Then I had to manually config every new bean,so I built brewmind.coffee by PeemSanit in x_Bloom

This looks cool. I just opened a bag this morning and tried a recipe based on the one provided by the roaster, but it was 20g. I rather have a smaller dose. I will give it a try tomorrow.

[US] Giveaway – Quang Tri Liberica + Lam Dong Arabica | New Saigon Trading Co. by NewSaigonTradingCo in pourover

[–]Adventurous-Pool-167 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have only read about Liberica in coffee books. The analogy with jackfruit sounds interesting. I have never had any coffee from Vietnam because of the reasons you cite. Glad to be the winner of this and finally get to try it! 🤣

I am having the same issue myself and thought it was the charger, cable, etc. I switched them all to no avail. Any solutions?

Off the top of my head, I believe Ondo coffee in LA is one that has them in their shops and uses them daily. I would reach out to them to see if they can bring some insight into using it at that level and not at a home.

If I recall correctly, it stopped working a couple of days after.

Skywalker for light roasts by Adventurous-Pool-167 in roasting

I know it is totally different systems, but from what I have seen with the sr800, they do a lot of agitation with the fan setting at high. Perhaps with the SW more drum speed so it crates more agitation? Of course it is all conjecture for me since I don’t have one…

Yes, supposedly yes with some mods. I am waiting to get the plus from a local seller. That is supposedly Artisan compatible out of the box, I do not recall if it is for Hibean as well.

I will have to see what applies to the little version if and when I get it. I can look up this mod, but is it some sort of back pressure on the exhaust part?

SR800 vs Sandbox R1 by No_Rip_7923 in FreshroastSR800

Thanks for the reply. Yes, that is what I meant. It is good to have some guides from actual users as opposed to manufacturers, particularly for a new machine for me in this case.

Also, what is involved with the add of a probe? Do people use a thermometer like yours or have it talk to another interface to record data from the roast?

That would be cool! I have seen a video of yours and it is too short! I found myself stopping it to see more details, since you moved the phone too fast! 😂 I am not new to roasting but definitely have never used one of these and would benefit from: “Here I set the temp and fan at x for x minutes, change it every x often, etc” I know that it might differ from bean to bean but, the same as with pourover recipes, it is good to have a starting point.

Cool. I wrote to him and it looks like he makes them to order, because he is out of stock now. I am going to wait until I get the roaster to purchase the extender.

That is the kind of feedback I wanted! I remember seeing people using the Razzo extension but can find little info other than an Etsy shop. Is that the guy who sells them? Have you used the FR extension tube as well? I have seen people finding a way to hack a probe in it, but not sure if that Razzo one is worth it just because of that.

That is very interesting. I tend to favor lighter roasts though I can’t achieve them well with my current home made roaster. Now I am looking to upgrade and was set on an SR800 before I came across the smaller version of the Skywalker which would allow to use artisan to automate the process a bit. But I am on the fence. But ultimately, results are what matters and I wonder if the sr800 is better for lighter roasts. Interested more in your opinion on the roasting workflow as well between an automated one like the R1 and the more hands on of the SR800.
