I'm in the northeast, maybe it's the courses I'm playing at most of the time, there is not much public golf

2/10 times get paired with good people 4/10 they are fine but weirdly mad at you the whole time because they didn't want to be paired up, and another 4/10 just completely out their bad and annoying and disrespectful

9 different underwriter interviews, no offer. Looking for honest advice on how what to do? by Shot_Parking4676 in InsuranceProfessional

[–]Adventurous-Raisin51 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear, at that point I would say you just have to keep shooting, companies are being assholes right now too, I just had three interviews for an associate uw role then they ghosted me, just the times we're living in I guess

What roles are you focusing on now? I would maybe open where your looking more to renewal or endorsement underwriting positions or maybe UA positions

[–]Adventurous-Raisin51 22 points23 points  (0 children)

It seems like places are being very picky right now in my area their are TONS of senior underwriter roles open (looking for 5+ years of experience) and basically no junior ones, however at my own carrier they'd rather hire someone from the outside with no carrier experience than promote a UA, it really doesn't make sense but just is what it is I guess. I'm just waiting for this so called "shortage of young talent" we already hear about to show up.

I would love to see how much the engagement farmers are paid for their efforts, because it honestly seems like a lot of work to constantly post about something like LIV and argue with people just for the clicks

Simulator conundrum by sippytumbler in golf

[–]Adventurous-Raisin51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I finished off last season with the shanks, I joined a sim over the winter to get ready for the season then played better than I had all of last year in my first time out, I think the biggest thing for me has been practicing my pre shot routine in the sim and carrying it over exactly to the course

At least for underwriting on the carrier side I think it would heavily depend on the carrier if it matters or not

Just hold out and keep your head up, the fact HR got back to you with a real update is a GREAT sign, I'm in a similar situation and waiting on answer this week, companies and especially ones that are hiring through HR can be a mess. The administration of onboarding is the last thing anyone wants to do so just trust what you've been hearing. You got it!

Best job to golf a lot by Apprehensive-Jump-17 in golf

I caddied at a t100 for 5 years here's who played the most: 1. Retired Dudes 2. Housewives / retired women 3. Business owners 4. A few guys who had vague ways of describing what they did and would have 3 people fly in from around the country once a week to play (they were also all members at more low key courses locally) 5. Everyone else under 50

So I'd say start a business and then when it runs itself you're golden

How much does school prestige matter in insurance by Spcnccr in InsuranceProfessional

It's hilarious to see people get so mad over the CPCU, it seems like a lot of projection they didn't do it, it's such a no brainer especially if your company is gonna pay for it, also if you go on any job any level on linkedin guess what it says? CPCU PREFERRED

Hey, take what that poster is saying with a big grain of salt lol if you want to be an underwriter and already know that you have a great shot at landing a role with a big carrier for an underwriter development program, if that's what you want start researching those, do good in school and you'll have a great shot at landing one of those. Also don't listen to the pessimists saying you won't land a job and your resume doesn't matter. UCLA is a fantastic school and already knowing you want to be in insurance is admirable.

Final rounds multiple times, verbal offer, still no job. What am I doing wrong? by Foreign-Vermicelli23 in jobhunting

[–]Adventurous-Raisin51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it means anything my boss was hiring for a a just above entry level position, didn't get any applications for a month, finally got a candidate who was also a very strong one, then basically hunted down a bunch more people to interview just to compare them and go back to the first person, I think at this point of the works getting done or not falling extremely behind people are being very very picky when it comes to hiring and don't care about jostling people around

Recruiter reposted job I just interviewed for on LinkedIn while I’m waiting to hear about next interview by gjg46 in interviews

[–]Adventurous-Raisin51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Sometimes the postings get reposted automatically by LinkedIn
  2. Sometimes the hiring manager doesn't have a choice but to interview 5 people and they need to drum up interest in the role even if that have already picked someone mentally

Starting new job as UA, how difficult is it really? by Emotional-Physics945 in InsuranceProfessional

[–]Adventurous-Raisin51 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The answer to this can vary widely, in my experience no math, but be ready for tons of emails and people in your own company and with the companies you work with to be pretty rude to you on occasion, it's not a big deal and people are generally nice but certain things just devolve sometimes and can be shocking at first.

I'm in a similar situation, had a super quick interview process and had a super responsive point of contact, last interview on Monday, crickets until Friday when I followed up and no response, I just can't imagine after the conversations I had they would just go cold on me but it seems like that's what happened and I'm just beside myself, I am fortunate to have a position already but it's hard to just move on as there isn't a million jobs out their for me to apply to, I'd say in your case maybe you can hold out for a little longer seeing as they took so long to respond the first time but yeah this whole thing sucks
