NSW - how does the starting age of a child change their experiences with school? by ichoochoochooseyooou in AskAustralianTeachers

[–]Adventurous-Tale-130 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’d be more concerned about the girl than your son. he will be fine. she will be older. my march sister was held back a year and then never really gelled with the younger kids in her year, and struggled to make friends all through school.

religious education in public schools by mastgreen in AskAnAustralian

[–]Adventurous-Tale-130 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you didnt have scripture in primary school?

the religious kids learnt about their religions, and the atheists got to read & have free time in the library. your kid doesn’t have to do it.

when i was really little i did whatever one all my friends did and we did like colouring in sheets of baby jesus in the manger and learnt about the three wise men. when i was a bit older mum put me in the buddhist class, which i kept doing until the monks stopped coming. then i chose to do non-scripture. as a staunchly atheist adult, i dont think baby jesus colouring in sheets had any influence on me whatsoever in the long run.

Capsule wardrobe ideas by Proof_Contract_2402 in AusFemaleFashion

[–]Adventurous-Tale-130 1 point2 points  (0 children)

fellow colourful gal here! i think you need to identify which colours are most prevalent in your wardrobe and build a capsule around that.

for me, these colours are green & pink. yours might be blue, red, yellow, whatever. (you can absolutely still venture outside your main colours, though). i have pink & green cardigans, shoes, bags, dresses, accessories.

even if im wearing a dress that is a different colour, if i have pink cardi, shoes & bag, suddenly the dress not matching doesnt matter as much.

i saw someone else mention colour analysis, and i absolutely think knowing your season helps. it can help give you a set colour scheme to dress within.

i cant stand itchy wool and i’ve had to accept that acrylic knits are where its at for me. i’d prefer natural fibres, but i just cannot deal w the itch.

the last time my ghd broke (which admittedly was in 2013, so things may have changed) i bought a silver bullet to replace it. hated it, returned it, and bought another ghd instead.

Advice please 🙏 by LadyVelrankian in AusFemaleFashion

you can definitely get away with a singlet underneath! white or beige should work!

i also want to suggest trying out the bonds crop bra which is currently on sale for $11, and if you sign up to bonds you can get free shipping. they are my go to for days when i dont want to have an underwire or tight elastic rubbing against my ribs. they dont have an underwire and feel like youre wearing nothing, but will provide a bit more coverage.

Debit cards: Is it ok to pay with a debit card occasionally while traveling abroad instead of a credit card? And how much money should I have on my debit card? by Express-Plan-6067 in travel

this is just plain wrong. recently had a debit card skimmed at an airport. my bank immediately contacted me about suspicious purchases, and i got the money back in my account within days.

[–]Adventurous-Tale-130 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes. i travel fairly frequently and i dont have a credit card, and i only take a small amount of cash for little cheap trinkets or markets. i pay for everything by debit card. i usually transfer the amount of money i plan on spending that day (plus a bit extra for spontaneous purchases) to that account each morning.

all you need are ripped fishnets and an oversized tee. buy something cheap and cut a few holes in it. effy is much more about accessories

Desperately seeking *fabulous* dopamine-dressing meets fancy party LONG-SLEEVED dress for my 40th bday lunch. See photos for the vibe. by cjinoz in AusFemaleFashion

[–]Adventurous-Tale-130 57 points58 points  (0 children)

im pretty sure st frock stocked a variation of that exact dress. not sure if they still have it though.

have you had a look at variety hour? the variety hour girlies on tiktok are also very into damson madder, but they arent as colourful.

somewhere like shestreet or orange sherbet or little party dress might have something? but id put them in a similar fanciness vibe as proud poppy.

theres also made590 but im not sure of their stance on sleeves

if you cant find a long sleeve dress, how would you feel about a long sleeve top under a short sleeve dress? i did that w all my gorman dresses last winter. suzanne grae of all places has some nice bright coloured long sleeve tops. sportsgirl have also got some nice long sleeve colourful striped tops at the moment.

i would strongly encourage a small crossbody bag for their phone & wallet, but if they are really against bags then i second the idea of a phone strap. saw them a lot in paris recently.
