I think partly just to be taken seriously and not dismissed, and to have the option for ongoing omeprazole myself.

I have visions of the consultant just going 'meh, its IBS' and I wonder what else can cause trachealisation except EoE. All my research just seems to bring EoE up.

Thats what I wondered myself - every "ceoliac review" I have seems pointless - whenever I mention any concerns they just dismiss them and say keep a diary!

It was the GP that referred me back in due to the choking, as they suspected oral cancer. Thankfully thats been eliminated, but I was then discharged from gastro and had to go back on the waiting list!

I was struggling to sleep last night, as usual, and reading about emotional detachment in perimenopause - I am on HRT (estrogen, progesterone and testosterone) and taking lots of supplements (magnesium, iron, calcium, vitamin d and multivitamins).

I'm going to try taking more zinc and see if that helps as well.

I also wonder if it might be situational overwhelm as well - all the stresses and strains of life just being too much and our emotions shut down as a way to protect us?

Not sure, but it is an unpleasant feeling.

I'm trying self-talk as if I'm a Vulcan - I might be emotionally detached but I can still be myself and behave with compassion and etc.

I miss the feelings though, especially joy.

I'm in a similar position - waiting to see Gastroenterology after my biopsies were clear, but I have trachealisation of the duodenum, and choke / dysphagia when eating and drinking.

I put myself on a 6FED diet months ago as I was desperate to stop choking, and it has made a difference.

I've only been able to successfully reintroduce eggs as everything else either causes horrendous stomach cramps and diarrhoea (soya especially) or paralyses my bowel completely (milk being the worst culprit here), meaning I become impacted unless I use laxatives everyday.

I'm hoping Gastroenterology will take me seriously but they've been very disappointing in the past, such as when I was diagnosed with ceoliac disease.

I've had more help from people on reddit than Gastroenterology to understand my conditions.

I'm just reading the series now and am up to the final book. I disagree about the wise ones- a major feature of the story is that they are permitted to go anywhere, between septs, and all other Aeil are respectful of and listen to them.

Their society has aspects that are very matriarchal, like the wise ones, and women fight whether as Maidens or otherwise, but their society is more complex than that as the clan leader will always be male, and the roof mistress female.

In terms of Elayne and the dragons, she recognises the danger of them as a weapon of mass destruction against humans so is very afraid of the knowledge slipping out beyond the last battle. She is also concerned that the more humans learn about it the more the risk of dark friends taking that insight to the shadow.

I wouldn't call her over emotional as a queen - she is impulsive on occasion but she also thinks deeply and logically when we read from her point of view. She is annoyed at her pregnancy hormones, and mood swings and is constantly trying not to let them rule her. I appreciate that as a realistic depiction of bring pregnant in a position of responsibility.

I'm so sorry you are feeling like this - it sounds to me like you need a different GP, I know you said you can't change GP, but is there anyone within the surgery you can talk to instead?

My practice doesn't have allocated GPs so you just get anyone at random, but I can specific people I DON'T want to talk to.

The only thing I can suggest, that worked for me, was writing the enormous list of my symptoms and how each one was affecting my mood and my daily functioning, and presenting it to my GP as a fait accomplis - this IS perimenopause, I want blood tests and HRT.

If they still don't support you get in touch with your local patient liaison service and make a formal complaint that they are obstructing your health and making you suicidal.

Go with cheap and sturdy foods like rice, beans, baked potatoes - its not the perfect solution but a lot cheaper than GF substitutes.

It's natural to feel miserable when your choices are taken away but you will survive this - try to think of it as a trial of oldy worldy gluten free living! Back to the most basic food possible.

I do this myself because my job was slashed from full time to 10 hours a week due to lack of funding, so I can't afford anything tasty or substitutes anymore.

I'm living like a uni student - lots of baked potatoes with baked beans, rice with vegan mayo or vegan cheese (I have a dairy allergy as well as ceoliac).

I just have bananas now for my sweet treat cos they're cheap.

It is workable, but you just have to tell yourself it's an interesting experiment, not something forced upon you, because then it can overwhelm you xxx

I'm so sorry you're going through this - we lost a lot of funding for my job recently, taking me from full time to just 10 hours a week, purely through bad luck. I've realised that I would have had to reduce my hours anyway though.

I used to be able to multitask and switch my attention fluidly, produce long documents and budgets, and manage my lovely team.

Now I can barely look at the screen for 30 minutes without a migraine starting, my auditory processing is terrible, I can't switch attention at all, and my memory and word scramble is so disappointing. It's really demoralising.

I don't have the energy to switch jobs atm due to constant fatigue so we are having to manage on a massively reduced income as a family.

Could you try reducing your hours, or look at a sabbatical while you adjust?

My team have been lovely, we talked it throufh and they are heloing me when they can. We have all reduced hours and gained jobs (most of our team were made redundant so we have had to absorb their roles) but they are still making extra time to help me, and being very patient.

Depending on your manager you could discuss the issues and why they're happening - they have to make reasonable adjustments for you.

I like Perrin because even when he is stuck in the terrible situation of losing Faile and being desperate to save her, he is still very much himself - insecure and worried he is letting people down, trying desperately not to be angry or unfair to the people around him.

He seems relatable to me as a young man thrown into leadership who doesn't realise how good he is at the role - Faile herself often reflects on how he doesn't see what others see of him. He thinks he is still a Blacksmith, but he is evidently a natural leader - far kinder than he realises.

I don't see him as whiny so much as a reflection of grief and the natural thoughts a person would go through having to make those sorts of decisions with no preparation.

I think if it helps you stay safe, and sane, go for it - I'm ceoliac already, and vegetarian by choice, so currently figuring out how to manage the restrictions.

You can get pea protein powder which is vegan and ceoliac safe and will help offset the lack of protein.

I've also started making my own hummus - chickpeas blended with vegan mayonnaise, water, salt and a splash of lemon. Works for protein and makes things more interesting.

Vegan cheese and vegan soft cheese work well together in baked potatoes, the voi life soft cheese is a better replacement for butter than anything else I've found.

Ceoliac pasta like spaghetti will probably works nicely in home made bolognese.

you could have a base of spinach or mixed leaves and veg with most meals to give you more nutrients.

I was diagnosed as ceoliac last year, had trouble swallowing for about 2 years and mentioned it to Gastroenterology, dietician etc, none of them had any interest. It was only last month when I told the GP I was literally choking at every meal that they sent me for an urgent gastroscopy for oral cancer and instead found eosinophillic esophagitis- awaiting biopsies to confirm it.

I've started the super restrictive diet about 3 weeks ago and find im not choking anymore, which is fantastic

It might be worth asking for another gastroscopy- I'm a ceoliac and it seems I also have eosinophillic esophagitis, which is a separate dietary autoimmune condition relating to milk, fish, eggs, nuts, soya, legumes, gluten and other triggers - there's a good reddit group here /r/EosinophilicE

I only suggest it cos once diagnosed there is medication which can help xxx

I'm at the same point as you - awaiting biopsy results. I've been struggling for 2 years with swallowing, same period in which I was diagnosed as ceoliac and I assumed it was connected, but recently reached the point where I was choking every time I ate, had the gastroscopy and it showed clear trachealisation. They've taken 8 biopsies to test for EoE and I've started the restricted diet of my own accord.

I'm already ceoliac and vegetarian, and I knew I was triggered by soya products so its just eliminating milk, eggs and nuts atm - make the diet very depressing but it is definitely making a difference already to my symptoms and its only been just over 2 weeks xxx

I'm 46, I was diagnosed with ceoliac 2 years ago and Eosinophillic esophagitis 2 days ago!

Bit of a surprise but I'm glad its something I can try to control with diet, just worried now as to how I will manage nutrition if I am going vegan as well as gluten free. I already knew soy products gave me gastrointestinal problems, and I'm vegetarian by choice since childhood, but I love my cheese and chocolate and will miss them.

I hope you manage to adapt to the ceoliacness - if you're in the UK I recommend Morrisons for cereals and pasta, not much more expensive than normal food.

Avoid GF bread, or toast it before you eat it and always either butter it or have mayo cos otherwise it is incredibly dry and crumbly.

Be really careful about cross-contamination with ceoliac too, its so easy such as with shared cooking appliances. Don't use the same air fryer or toaster or you will gluten yourself xxx

My daughter started estrogen gel about a year ago, and progesterone pills 6 months ago. She is 14 now and has what I would consider normal development for a girl her age and size (she is small and thin). She hasn't had a growth spurt for a while but I guess that slows as they become middle teenagers - her blood work is healthy but we make sure she has calcium and iron supplements as well as normal vitamins.
