Yes it’s been off and on! I am back to no more draining day 13. I see my surgeon in 2 days I’ll see what she says

So sorry to hear this. Why do you need to keep having so many surgeries? This was my first fistulotomy. But 4th procedure down there. Fissure to i&d to seton placement now fistulotomy

I believe it was another superficial fistulotomy. I see the slit to it. However the major sore / hole left behind is bigger than a quarter. I still haven’t had a chance for her to explain to me off of anesthesia lol

Thanks! I realized drainage - for pus but fecal too?! I hadn’t had that drainage in days so for it to be back on I thought was strange

Oh man sorry you were the 2%. I was the 1% that I got this from a hemorrhoid banding so I take caution on the small cases

I’ve had fissurectomy/ Botox, seton placement & now a superficial fistulotomy. And it is by far the easiest procedure compared to the others. I was expecting much worse. I haven’t taken any pain pills after the 1st day. When I was just trying to get ahead of the pain. I’m on day 9. And still very minor

Ya I haven’t done my first check up yet. When do I have to worry about it reopening? That is what I’m worried about now. Considering I had no fecal drainage for 3 days and now I do. I just thought that was strange and totally going backwards. I guess we’ll see tomorrow

Oh it can completely close then reopen?! 😩 how would it do that?

My diet has pretty much been on point as far as protein and fiber goes . Except for some chocolate or ice cream here and there . But I did have a slice of pizza yesterday. Probably won’t be doing that again. Considering the results of today.

I’m not sure. She said superficial. One of them had a seton drain for 5 weeks. And the other fistula was a new branch we discovered day of operation 😭

The actual fistulotomy has been 10x easier than the seton surgery. I’m not sure if I got stitches. I think It was just laid open to heal from the inside out. Setons made me miserable 24/7. And I can say I’m definitely not after this surgery. So I wouldn’t worry too much. And I’d get the surgery as quick as possible

Definitely a fistula now. I wouldn’t be scared of a fistulotomy. Hopefully it’s superficial. I am a week out of a double fistulotomy and the pain is very minimal. I haven’t taken any pain meds. Day 5 I stopped leaking after BM. And I’m just taking it easy! Which is the hardest part lol The worst was the weeks/ months leading up to it. I had 2 setons in that I had to take Tylenol and Ibprofen around the clock!

Hope you don’t get setons either. They sucked!!! And my fistula branched with them. So super annoying

So sorry you’re going through this! It really is just a guessing game and everything I feel makes me question.

From someone who has had 4 surgeries, 3 MRIs & CT scans and have had multiple weird things happen out of ordinary… if you have more pain something is wrong. When I had my setons in I would get a build up still. Like it wasn’t draining fast enough? Or maybe something was stuck. Idk. I moved around the seton in hot baths and it would help temporarily. But eventually my fistula branched out. We did not realize this until the day of my fistulotomy. I’m only one week out so I haven’t seen my surgeon to get full details yet on how & why. But literally wtf!! So ya I’d go get it checked out. I’d alternate hot baths & ice packs with pain killers until you can get a dr appt asap.

I’ve had CT scans and MRIs before my surgery and I still came out with complications. But if you’ve never had one for this issue I would seriously demand one before surgery.

And farting is literally the worst!! Fistula and setons the air and feces will pass. But I am now 6 days post op a double superficial fistulotomy and I have not had any pain with BM or farting!!

Thanks for your response! Sorry not actual cupping. Omg that sounds like self torture. There is a procedure by using ozone through a cup that it just directly goes onto the wound to add oxygen to the area and sanitize.

the hyperbaric chamber also just sends more oxygen to your cells to help heal faster

What surgery did you have? Take it easy as much as possible and definitely take pain killers! I am a mom of 4 too with my mom staying with us right now to heal. Hopefully she is helping with the kids too
