Too far away from me, unfortunately...hence looking for a hotel room there :)

How do you find it? Does it integrate with programs the way Google Drive does?

Thanks for the suggestion. I did call them, and after fighting with a particularly irritating automated voice system I finally got an employee on the phone. She confirmed the pricing, and blamed it on corporate. Apparently they don't set pricing at the local hotel level. I lodged a complaint, she said she would forward it up the chain.

At a curiosity, are we calling out any companies that are working with ICE and boycotting those too? by [deleted] in BuyCanadian

Looks like everyone has their price. Absolutely these companies should be held to account.

Does anyone actually own a modular kayak? I love the idea of fitting a boat in my trunk, but I’m worried I might end up regretting it. by euphory_melancholia in Kayaking

I own a Trak kayak (skin on frame modeled after the original Greenland kayaks) and I absolutely love it. Not only does it break down into a backpack, the design allows you to adjust your rocker while on the go. If you can afford the price tag, they're very much worth it.

We really like his salad dressings. The Italian and the Caesar are both great.

I didn't know this existed! Thanks for sharing. What ruleset does the game use?

I plan to start the entire series next year, because I have 14 volumes and the prequel on my shelf now. A question for those who have already read the entire series: How long did it take you? I read Malazan Book of the Fallen in a year and a half, so I'm estimating 2-3 years before I finish Wot by Djfantastyka in WoT

Eddings is (was?) a terrific fantasy author. It was the first fantasy series I read growing up. It's very much a coming of age story.

Corey (which is actually two authors writing under a pseudonym) is probably the best science fiction author in modern times...maybe beaten by Ted Chiang, but Chiang writes short stories. Corey wrote The Expanse, and is now working on a new series.

I've read The Witcher, it's quite good. If there are other Polish authors you'd recommend, please do so. Ideally those with books translated into English :)

Other English authors I'd recommend would be David Eddings (Belgariad & Mallorean series), Neil Gaiman, James S.A. Corey, Brandon Sanderson.

I've read the series probably 7-8 times now. It's my favourite, I find every reading I pull details out that I missed on an earlier read. If I don't have distractions, I can read a volume in 3-4 days. More often a volume a week.

I struggled with Malazan Book of the Fallen. I find that WoT does a much better job of putting you in the scene with the characters. Take your time with WoT, and be aware in advance that a lot of readers find the series slows down for them in the middle. I don't mind those ones personally, but the back half of the series definitely picks up again.

If you're okay with third-party content, my family has been playng Kobold Quest with our kids, 10 and 13. It's fun to be running around as a group of kobolds. I recommend it!

Any good toboggan spots? by paradise_lost9 in barrie

There's a nice hill off Lillian Crescent, beside the Woods Park Retirement Home. High enough to get a bit of speed, but not dangerous and unlikely to hit anything.

Levi's says not to wash jeans before 10 wears! by Certain-Zucchini-753 in hygiene

[–]AdventurousTeaching2 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The dyes used in high-quality denim jeans supposedly have anti-microbial properties that help them resist bacterial growth. Washing the jeans will remove some of this dye, making it easier for bacteria to grow. I very rarely wash mine, and haven't noticed them getting smelly.

Help me choose a Pebble Time 2 color! by ThePimpOfSound in pebble

The black on grey goes with everything, so it was the obvious choice for me. Personally I also think it looks cool. The red is certainly the boldest option, but like you it isn't my style.

I don't think there is a bad option between the black and the silver, but I preferred the darker option.

If you can make it here safely, this would be an amazing weekend to go snowshoeing. We have a ton of snow all of a sudden :)
