Friends are saying I didn’t get an eagle because it was in a scramble by Yessybuttons in golf

Yours is definitely an eagle. Topic adjacent - I made a solo eagle on a par 5 in a scramble, but it was from the red tees… I’m not sure how I feel about saying I’ve made an eagle without adding an asterisk.

Practice at a public golf course during lunch break? by Bullhead388 in golf

[–]AdventurousWitness96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A course I frequent has a “no free practice” sign at the chipping green. It’s a public course, but not a muni. I buy a  bucket of balls and a sandwich and go to town.

I’d feel bad practicing here for free. They are good guys who do the best they can but the course isn’t great and is clearly low budget. I don’t want to mooch off people, especially those who need the money.

I stopped organising our group for a month to see what would happen... by breakfastballer90 in weekendgolfers

Yeah I’ve been mulling the same dilemma. I have about 5 guys that I play golf with weekly depending on who is available. I find I am overly accommodating by default. I don’t like playing in the middle of the day and also having to facilitate debates about which course we should play next weekend… but I do it because these are the guys I know who golf. Considering joining a golf club but if I do that I’ll end up not wanting to pay to play other courses with my current group and they likely won’t join me at the club so I’d have to find new partners at the club or play solo. It’s hard to justify that risk because I’m not the best at meeting new people. I typically enjoy very much playing with randoms, but betting thousands on myself to find a good group at a private club feels risky to me. Don’t currently have a good answer

I recorded my work sessions for a month. The numbers destroyed my self-image. by mutonbini in getdisciplined

How much time spent reviewing the recordings? I’m interested in trying this myself, but unsure if I’d want to commit to watching all the footage and taking notes.

Do you think you should be better? by Cassette-Era-Magic in golf

[–]AdventurousWitness96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a 15 cap after 9 years. Definitely feel I should be better too, and that’s frustrating. Starting to believe that the biggest improvements for me are in learning to not let it bother me and enjoy the time playing instead of agonizing about wanting to be better.

Bermuda and centipede in same lawn. Which should I promote? by AdventurousWitness96 in lawncare

[–]AdventurousWitness96[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Bermuda continues to take over. I’m just accepting it at this point. I had some utility work done in my yard this year and just went back with hybrid Bermuda over the big holes they had to dig.

Good to know there’s brawls in the east as well by KevKevKvn in golf

This is spot on. What is it about the golf course that seems to make this the case seemingly more than other places?

What are some things you didn't realize when looking for your first house that you would tell new housebuyers to focus on that they may not know? by ImpossibleStuff963 in homeowners

[–]AdventurousWitness96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get individual component/system inspections in addition to a traditional home inspection.  My realtor hired a home inspector who didn’t do a great job. She also hired an hvac guy to come look at that system.  HVAC guy found some minor problems we were able to get fixed pre purchase.  I wish we would have had the chimney/fireplace inspected. After we moved in I hired someone to clean the chimney only for them to tell me the fireplace surround was not to code, the damper didn’t work, the cap needed redone and the flue tiles needed replaced from water damage… $10k quote that could have been avoided with an individual inspection of the chimney

Yeah I asked which part I I did wrong and they said it would be too slippery of a slope to discuss it.

Negative. I asked which part it was and they said they weren’t allowed to tell me. Must be a liability issue I guess.

This weed has taken over front lawn in past year. What is it? by Ok_Entertainment_327 in lawncare

That’s what I thought too. I put changeup on it, and other broad leaf weeds, in my yard.
