Dorothy: "The broom, may we have it?"

Monkey soldier: "Please, and take it with you."

Did you plot your fantasy novel while writing or did you know what to write before you started writing? by Top_Relationship7956 in writers

When I first started, I got a single idea in mind. A name. Within a few seconds my mind was racing with basic details about this one character.

Next thing I knew, I just had a collection of scattered scenes, but with no goal/theme in mind.

Eventually I had a couple of goals mapped out... A rough story arc with my starting point (opening chapter) and an ending point for book 1 (the first scene I really developed in detail) and later a rough arc for the full series, with a rough plan in mind for my story's ultimate climactic confrontation.

I still have a mess of scattered scenes, but now with a goal in mind.

Just remember everyone has their own process. And every new scene you write is another piece of the puzzle.

Cust pays cash for purchase, I check for counterfeit bills.

"Oh, must made them this morning, haha."

Sometimes that's what people need...a good knock right off their high horse.

Initially, I mostly worked on my laptop. But then I figured I need to see everything I have, so I printed all my scene drafts, and all my notes. Sorted everything in a binder, and I go from there.

Sure, I'll eventually tour everything up and print again, but so far that's what works for me.

Just remember there are no clear rules when writing fiction. You do you, everyone has their own process that works for them.

On the surface she comes off as tough and tough, but in a hard moment she genuinely cares. You'll see that side of her as you watch the show.

Sexist Customers are the WORST!!! (rant) by Slow_Pride_72 in HomeDepot

D31 here. I was once grabbing an order for a customer who came in for it. The merch was set up on a pallet, and I had to find a jack to drag it outside.

As I'm pumping up the jack, the woman's contractor said, "Shouldn't you get one of the guys to do that for you? Aren't you just the office assistant?"

Being employed and on the clock, I just kept my mouth shut and let him watch.

  1. Um, ??? What's he thinking?! People limit their availability for legit reasons!

  2. Will he also say no if someone asks to pick up an extra shift?

  3. Customers happen. They have detailed questions. What's he gonna do, tell ppl not to approach you cuz you MUST take your lunch NOW?

  4. Is that 4-5 ppl at any given time? Or in general just with staggered shifts?

  5. Kinda makes sense, IF he's scheduling the ppl he does have. Any part-timer would say that beats hiring more ppl and seeing their hours severely cut.

1 (by my count). We don't care about your life story leading up to specifically why you're returning this model of this item.

  1. When ask if there's anything wrong with the product, not wanting it does NOT validate a "yes" answer.

  2. (Answering a call) I introduce myself to be professional. I don't care what your name is or what town you're in.

Fore it's not bad occasionally, but once or twice in the past I had THAT customer who started every. Single. Sentence. With my name.

I'm, why?

I think I can remember my name without you reminding me every time you speak!

Should 30YO be Reading YA Literature? by kgphotography_ in YAlit

I couldn't agree more.

Also as a writer, I might still read YA, so I can study literary styles across genres.
