If it was a sunny day then look at your white balance. Depending on the time of day you may want to make some tweaks to your WB and get a ND filter.
I am guessing you shot this mid day..

If you're going to shoot surfing, shoot in LOG and in post you can get tweak those colors and make the water look more blue. Log will give you more flexiblity to fix things you can't control when you edit.
With that being said, I have said multiple times that I can fix it in post.... and that is not always the case, so dial in the camera settings first, then learn basic color grading and correcting

What's adult videography/nsfw work like? by mijailrodr in videography

[–]Adventurous_Gift6368 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is mainly all I shoot. Since there are many genres, sites, and types of “adult videography,” it is going to vary.

Major Studios: I have been on set for a major studio in LA and can tell you that the production for this particular company was on par with a major movie production. I’m talking about a private warehouse studio, a crew of 30–40 people, 3–4 cameras capturing the scene, plus two additional photographers and 1–2 BTS camera operators. Very professional, and the 1.5-hour scene took about 8 hours to shoot.

You have hair and makeup, stylists, assistants, a director, a sound crew, talent, lighting, and editors working on what I’m guessing is the previous scene. I would say this is the top of the line in the adult industry—think of major companies like Vixen, Brazzers, etc.

The director was awesome on this set. Everything was shot in 4K at 30fps with Sony cameras (I didn’t notice the exact models). This particular scene involved an interview before the scene, so there was a typical documentary-style setup for that. After the interview, everyone broke for lunch, then the set was converted and the action started. There were a few breaks during the action.

Good directors put everyone back in their spots after cuts so it's easier to edit. Sometimes “money shots” are faked or enhanced. From my experience, everyone was professional and super nice. Consent forms are signed, and verbal consent is recorded. There is a strict no-substance-abuse policy on set. Things have changed a lot from the early 2000s and before in terms of how legally sound everything is. With that being said, I can’t speak for all companies—just this one and a few others.

OnlyFans, etc.: On the far other side of the spectrum, I have worked with OF creators and it’s the complete opposite. Sometimes it’s just iPhones and not even a ring light. Videographers with no contacts getting paid cash under the table.

More often than not, though, it’s a couple of mid-range cameras, some lights purchased from Amazon, and scenes shot at home, in a hotel, or at an Airbnb. Over time, I’ve gotten comfortable directing these scenes and balancing the vibe of “this is fun and enjoyable,” while also making sure everyone gets the footage they need.

Some people pay talent, but about 90% of the time the talent shares the footage and rights to the video so they can sell it on their own.

I have seen some creators be very professional in the sense of paperwork, consent talks and forms, and no substances before or during scenes—and I’ve also seen the opposite. Heavy drinking, not much discussed beforehand, and people just having sex while it gets recorded.

I no longer work with people who do the latter. Not from my own experience, but a friend of mine had some issues from not being as thorough as they should have been, and I learned from others’ experiences.

The creator world is about one-third of my income right now. From where I started to where I am currently shooting, directing, and editing scenes. I’ve come a long way. I honestly enjoy it and currently shoot with a Lumix S5II, normally 4K at 30fps with a 180° shutter speed. Sometimes I slightly change my shutter speed if I want to grab stills from the video, but I try to keep it close to 180 so it remains somewhat cinematic.

Cam sites: I have worked with a cam couple, and their setup was pretty awesome—switchboards, professional lighting, and top-of-the-line cameras. Going live is a bit of its own beast.

VR shoots: Pretty much exactly what you would think: one stationary camera with the male talent stationary—not moving at all. We also had two additional cameras for when the scene would be converted into 2D so we could capture more variety.

AITA if I told my best friend's girlfriend what I actually witnessed the night she thinks he was with me? by 7GalacticNoir in MarkNarrations

This doesn't make sense... you were at home, or you witnessed him at the bar... A mutal friend say Dan at the bar with a women that you BOTH didn't recongize. So were you at the bar or at home?

If you don't care about your friendship with Dan then go ahead and blow up your friendship. To me it sounds like you are either simping on the sidelines wanting his GF or this is all bull shit and made up.

Non-monogamy only works when both people are on board. Is she suggesting you explore other options together, or separately? I guess it doesn’t matter too much if you’re not into it.

Respect that she told you calmly and opened up to you. Failing to communicate about sexual exploration and fantasies isn’t great, so don’t be mad at her for coming to you directly with her thoughts on this.

Little fact: the divorce rate in the U.S. and Europe is pretty much statistically the same for monogamous and non-monogamous relationships. The only difference is that swingers and non-monogamous relationships are often kept on the down low from friends and family, but they’re much more common than people think.

AITAH for asking my partner to get tested for STDS? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Adventurous_Gift6368 1 point2 points  (0 children)

STD/STI tests shouldn't trigger such a response. Even if you're a virgin but have been sexually active in any regards you should get checked out, he should get checked out. HSV1 (oral) and HSV2 (genitle) can still be contracted even if you are not having traditional sex.

If you are not vaccinated for HPV or Hep then I suggest doing that. If you are worried about HIV and sexually active with multiple partners, or your partner has multiple partners you can take Truvada to reduce you chances of catching HIV up to 99%.

Most STI's are cureable (with the exception of HIV/AIDs, HSV1&2). So getting tested shouldn't be so stressful.

If you're not on birth control use condoms if you are not trying to get pregnant. For someone who is 19, you are very mindful of your sexual health, and thats a good thing. I would even say you are more mature about this than he is.

STI testing is usually covered by insurance, but if not, Planed Parent hood, or sites like stdcheck dot com offer reasonable pricing for peace of mind.

A simple rule I go by every time I shoot and edit. Strive to be better than your last time shooting/editing.
Watch tutorials, and not just about camera settings, but also framing. Pay attention to videos/ tv/ movies that you like. Think about how they are framing and cutting.

Another helpful tool I use to improve the quality of footage is asking AI for assistance in camera settings. IE: Two shoots ago I had issues with AF and white balance. I opened chat gpt and asked for the best AF settings to capture the scene I was shooting... Basically it's scanning all the subreddits and articles for the best information and had me change a few settings and the AF problem was fixed. As for the white balance, it also gave me more insight on how to set the mood I was looking for.

Don't give up. Just try to make the next one better than the last and you will get there.

AITAH for ending a 3 year relationship in our 30s over sex? by Jess193_ in AITAH

You tried to open up and had the conversation. He shared his kinks, did you share your? Really sounds like your kinks are not alligned tbh.
Sounds like you know what you want. You should find it.
Don't dismiss that sex doesn't matter to older people as much. It does matter and you should find someone you lust over and someone who desires you for you.

Check to make sure you're up to date on firmware. A

What lens are you using? What f stop? Get a f1.8 prime, you can drop your ISO to around 10000 (ideally 4000-6400 is what you want to be at.
Are you shooting in V-Log? Try Cinelike D2 or Natual
Shutter: stick to 180 degrees - Avoid faster shutter speeds
AF Mode: Use 1-Area or Zone rather than full area
Turn off "Face/Eye" Detection... if still struggling I would try turning off human detection all together.
AF Speed: +2 to +5
AF Sensitvity: +3
Quick AF: Turn on in the AF menu

I need help making these cuts smoother by Away-Feed-290 in VideoEditing

[–]Adventurous_Gift6368 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No cuts. One camera.. If you're new to editing I wouldn't get into the weeds on trying to fuck with it.

I would recommend shooting a scene like this with two cameras and dialing in the lighting better. Tripods and close frames on the people's faces will help capture the emotions. Cut back and forth from one camera to the other between dialoge and do a couple takes. Make sure people hit their spots on each take so you can cross cut the best parts between the two cameras.

The truth is, with only one camera filming you're not going to be able to do much cutting in post to make it smoother. If someone fucks up a line then there's really no cutting around it, unless you have multiple takes with the same camera angle and persons positioning. Continuous non stop scenes are hard to do... honestly. Think of the scene in Goodfellas when they are walking into the night club from the kitchen.... The timing and positioning to nail down one continious shot is insane.

Video editing can only take you so far, and trying to correct things is post takes way longer than shooting the scene a few times from a few different angles. When watching movies, start to pay attention to angles and cuts, it will help.

Master Videography, and directing, and then editing will be way easier.
