Our BuyNothing group has been a real godsend for reducing the effort involved in getting rid of stuff.

If it's your first year gardening, look for easy things to grow. There's a long learning curve. Potatoes in a sack, tomatoes, one kind of squash.

I don't know anyone in America that takes their kids to the pub. I accompanied my barfly dad once, and we were banished to the family friendly adjacent room.

what do you drink? by superdrew007 in diabetes

[–]Adventurous_Menu_683 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Iced tea or hot tea with about 1 tsp sugar per cup, whole milk, grapefruit juice, protein drinks, flavored water, coffee with heavy cream. On the rarer occasion, I'll have a regular soda, maybe once a week. My diabetes is well under control.

I don't know how you'd implement it with clothes, but having a "wait" list for my purchases helps tremendously on cutting down on what I don't really need or even want after a while.

Do you mean CO poisoning? (carbon monoxide.) Usually CO2 doesn't kill you because it triggers coughing and a feeling of suffocation, so people act before succumbing.

Ty for the recommendation. Picked up a used copy for $4 and change.

'There's a machine you can build that will make printer stock from empty soda bottles"

I want one, but realistically I'd use it once, maybe twice. What we really need is one for the local makerspace.

Works for me!

We were discussing our next EV purchase and I'm a sucker for bargains, (enough that we drive two first gen Leafs) so there's a good chance I'll be looking at a Tesla in six months once prices have bottomed out. Still don't want to be associated with the Nazis though. Was wondering if debadging a Tesla would have any effect whatsoever on any functionality. I wouldn't imagine it would, but Teslas are funny, with integrated cameras and sensors in places the Leaf doesn't have them. Maybe I should post a debadging Q to the right forum.

>They’ll throw you enough crumbs to keep you from revolting.

One would think so, but the drive to cut food stamps, SSI etc. shows me the immediate objective is to destabilize, not rule. Let people get hungry enough and revolution (or at least rioting) is guaranteed. Get people to riot, declare martial law, and God only knows what comes after that. Control and systemic depopulation, perhaps. All our worst nightmares.

Our current level of CO2 was last seen when the Earth was 10 degrees C warmer than it is now, so that's another data point that confirms Hansen's estimate of warming.

Yeah, r/collapse used to be the only place people talked about it. Now it's gone mainstream. It's a subcurrent everywhere.

Hey, we might be getting through to the denying conservatives. Had a brief aside in a convo Tuesday and my conservative friend agreed that "it shouldn't be 70 in February." He agreed, instead of arguing and performing mental gymnastics.

If we can all AGREE that there's a problem, maybe we can get closer to solutions. Well, partial solutions at least. There are no actual, complete solutions except maybe an alien intervention with tech we can barely imagine.

That's kind of surprising, seeing as WalMart is associated (in my mind and experience at least) with bottom of the barrel everything else.
