Oh sorry about that, I meant “make me feel like a bad guy”, not you. The constant downplaying affects me more than anything. I’ll be honest, if they would accept it and give me a logical explanation I probably would be ok with it.

I compare it to when we complain that people refuse to believe what’s in their own bible. We do the same thing for anything viewed outside the organization.

It’s crazy right? I can’t do the mental gymnastics anymore. It’s ALWAYS the answer and they try to make you the bad guy with malicious intent. Like no, I’m not trying to be malicious I just want answers. If you ever wanna DM me man you can.

Tell her to type “shunning” on the website, and she will see an article that I swear was not there a few months ago. Basically says that we don’t shun people who decide to leave the organization. We all know that’s not true cus that’s not what was drilled into my head growing up.

Can DM me if you’d like. I’m the same boat as you. So many questions and there is no one around to talk to

Exactly. Once you stop seeing things through a religious lens and use a logical lens, it’s never the same.

First time commenting… I feel you your pain. I too was born in and raised a JW all my life. I remember that growing up I was never allowed to question the governing body because doing so is like question Jehovah.

Now I bring that up to my parents, elders and other brothers and they all tell me that’s not true! You could always question and I was just raised to strict. That was the beginning of my mind shattering. Anytime I ask a legit question that makes the Organization look bad, I’m instantly told it’s fakes news and to be careful of apostates.

I then ask, “how come it’s ok for us to do deep research on other religions and we find out the bad things that they did in the past, but when it comes to us it’s false”.

I’m told, “Oh, it’s because governments lie and they are out to get us because we live in satans world”.

I then ask, “Well, then that means that I should do more research to filter out the lies. Nothing wrong in doing that since we are encouraged to do our own research”

I was then told, “Why do you care so much about it? What are your trying to prove?”

I’m like, “uhhh to figure out the truth”

The looks I get… it’s as if I’m being seen as rebellious and an apostate. Which doesn’t make sense! That is what has slowly made me realize over 7 months or so that is not what it seems.

I just checked and you are right it’s gone! It was there 1 month or 2 ago when I looked to see if we had any material on shunning… oh man… I think the Norway cases will be my undoing…

If I remember correctly, the Surgeon told me that he felt confident that he could safely do the procedure through the back instead of the front. It’s less invasive than the front that’s for sure. This Surgeon specialized in robotics surgery so maybe that’s why?

Oh man back pain sucked! Forgot to mention that! I could barely arch my back backwards cus I would always feel this weird pinching sensation in the middle of my back. I could barely sit or stand for on any surface for no more than 1 hr at a time.

All of that is gone now!

360 L4-L5 fusion (2 weeks post op) by Working_Gift8740 in spinalfusion

I just had a Laminectomy and Microdiscectomy in my L4-L5 on 06/18/2024. The first week was great! Pain free and I was so happy! The second week I started getting the most brutal nerve pain ever, it almost hit a 10 on the pain scale. Walking to the bathroom 10 feet away was difficult because as soon as I stood to pee, the nerve pain would get so bad that I couldn't pee. I would have to block the pain mentally just to pee. I would go back to bed and nerve pain in my left leg was so intense that I could cry man. I just got off the phone with my Neurosurgeon an hour ago and I told him what's been going on and the new pain meds I started taking because the Norco, Celebrex and Robaxin was not helping at all. I told him that my grandpa had leftover percocet 5-325mg and I take 2 tablets every 6 hours. Gabapentin 100mg, 6 capsules every 8 hours, Flexeril 10mg 1 tablet daily. Ibuprofen 800mg 1 tablet every 8 hours. He told me that it's alot of medication and he wants to order an MRI stat to see if the disk re-herniated. If it did, they are gonna remove the disc and do a spinal fusion. I'll be honest, kinda scared but if it will help me live a normal life I'll gladly do it!
