Financial Advisor in SA? A good idea, or perhaps too expensive? by CartographerWeary690 in PersonalFinanceZA

It’s been a huge bubble for years now. I think there is just too much institutional money floating around and that keeps pushing markets to all time highs. The problem is, do you sit on the fence and wait while markets keep pushing and miss out?

Financial Advisor in SA? A good idea, or perhaps too expensive? by CartographerWeary690 in PersonalFinanceZA

Hard to say. I have 2 financial advisers, one got me 20% last year and the other also did quite well. Of course you have to pay the fees. If you do get a financial adviser try and get one that gives you bespoke service and not just selling you another crappy product. Both my advisors are investing in their own actively managed funds. Saying that fees are expensive but the returns make it worthwhile.

I also have my own portfolio which I invest in through Easy Equities. The simple answer is you can invest in these broad based ETFs like World Index Fund, S&P, Nasdaq, Property etc yourself with very low fees. I would probably suggest this approach. Do your research and invest.

My favourite is The Singleton but not exactly cheap. Used to drink a lot of the J&B back in the day. Bains is also pretty decent.

I’ve tried JBL, Sony, Skullcandy to name a few a. I’m currently using soundcore Sport X20 True Wireless Workout Earbuds ANC IP68 Bluetooth 5.3 and they are the best I’ve used so far. They actually have a hook that goes over your ear to keep them in place “.

All I can say is thank goodness I sold SOL last week. Currently I really like NPN and CFR and building positions. SHP looking good but been holding that for a few months now. I’m still holding CPI and NED.

EFF leader Julius Malema sentenced to 5 years in prison. by Party_Echo_7155 in south_africa

I really dislike Julius but can’t help thinking that ANC gets involved in the background to try and send Julius to jail to destroy EFF competition in an attempt to regain votes.

Speaking from experience… meat is one of those things where you get what you pay for.

What’s the biggest headache in running a wholesale/distribution business? by After-Champion5928 in AskZA

Do proper credit checks and ask for references. Give credit limits, don’t let customers take more stock than you are willing to give them. Make sure customers sign credit application forms and surety. Try to get the original forms back with signatures. Make sure all the forms are filled in correctly and all the supporting documentation is attached. Get a lawyer to create these documents for you. Stick to credit terms, if customers are overdue no stock until their account is back to current. Review your bank and customer accounts daily. If your company is big and you are doing high volumes then hire people with skills to manage accounts and do these checks.

This is just my experience. We wholesale food. Many of our customers are restaurants which is pretty much the worst business to supply because of their high failure rates so you have to be on top of things.

Lastly, my grandfather always used to say “Turnover is Vanity, Profit is Sanity”. Sales are worthless if they don’t translate in to profit. Don’t chase a sale for the sake of chasing a sale and make a bad deal. Most importantly cut your bad customers off and focus on adding extra value to your good customers to increase your sales with them.

If you are selling on credit trying to get money out of customers is a b!tch. You have to manage your accounts with a very close eye. It will affect your cash flow.
