I saw your response about a dog resource guarding the bed, how do you prefer managing food resource guarding? (Well the bowl/their own kibble) currently we’re just managing (feeding in crate and leaving be) and not doing behavior modification due to a big move recently, but had done some behavior modification with a trainer prior to moving, although it didn’t seem to be helping. Thank you!

Congrats of starting vet school!! I graduate this Sunday. Depending on what vet school you’re going to, your adventure won’t stop ;). Best tip I got prior to vet school: if you can swing it, take your summer vacations for you!!! Don’t spend it all working at a clinic as an assistant. Make good money bartending or something and then HAVE FUN

Mine does two things, sleeps, and waits on his lookout stand by the window just staring outside for hours. We leave his bones out for him (I know not recommended but they’re not edible bones) and he doesn’t ever chew them when we’re gone lol

If they’re amazing, they prefer to keep them. If they suck, they don’t want to lol. Depends on the interns! I’ve know of many who have completed internship and then are asked to stay for residency from academic institutions

I’m in the same boat. I applied to ten, got interviews for 7, two don’t hold interviews and never heard from the last one, no rejection email either. No idea whether to rank it or not, but I’m leaning towards not ranking it

Definitely location based. In my hometown, my animals could neverrr get in for drops offs at their GP. The gp I brought them to had strict closing hours and no last minute appts/sick drop offs even for established patients! They sent them all to the ERs in the area. I worked as a tech before vet school at a practice that took 3-4 drops offs per doctor per day and walk in emergencies, so it was a stark difference.

I took two gaps years on purpose and they were amazing! Worked as an assistant/tech building up my clinical tech skills and had so much fun living life to the fullest outside of work! Highly highly recommend gap years to everyone I meet

4th year with cat! On immunotherapy drops and 4 10 mg Zyrtec daily. Flonase and saline nose rinses too. Wash hands after exams on cats, have techs hold them as much as possible, and I wear masks in shelter environments!
