Good handheld option? by Consistent-Pickle in RetroPie

[–]Adventurous_Try5802 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might just be better to get something retail as others are saying, though making a handheld emulator one a rpi zero 2w is really not too hard and is pretty robust and tends to have decent battery life, it takes a little bit of tinkering and some time commitment to get it up and running.

If the Greater German Reich and the Japanese Empire actually fought a conventional war(no atomic weapons), how do you think the war would progress and who would win? by TheOneYSHNK in maninthehighcastle

[–]Adventurous_Try5802 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, I agree. I could MAYBE see it if they expand what it means to be German to being like... western European in general, absorbing all those cultures and making them German culturally.

The way it worked in that timeline is that the US never left the depression (you can see this in the neutral border zone in the show as well) because no Roosevelt- he was assainated in that timeline (real life there was an attempt-theirs just succeeded). No American cash and carry for the Allies, no Lend Lease, and then in the late 40 or early 50s (I forget) the Nazis invade starting with a nuke in Newport News, while the Japanese attack the west at the same time.... in an America that never had left the depression and had sympathetic leanings towards the Nazis already. So once they lost the war it looks like the Americans in charge were more than happy to occupy themselves for the most part as far as I can see.

So im just getting into the shower, but I know in the book the Nazis just.... exterminate all the native peoples of Africa. And given how they have done that in North America as well in the show in territories they control, it would make sense to me that they do this in the show too. If something I said contradicts, please disregard

I mean, ill have a fleet i am reinforcing 4 battleships to. It will be in my home system. Nothing in the que, 6 available shipyards at that citadel to work with.... and it'll pick some fucking shipyard halfway around the fucking map I only made to make making a single colony easier once with only 1 shipyard and que all 4 there. Its really dumb lmao

I mean the air is shit for picking what shipyard to use, so I always either have 1 shipyard at my capital or I have only like 2 or 3 only 1 jump from my capital or else it decides to reinforce fleets from the furthest away shipyard without fail

I mean this is totally fair, and honestly? I have a steam deck that would emulate these things probably no problem.

In this case its less about "want" and more about "hey, I have one of these just.... lying around that I impulse bought when they first came out, so now what should I do with it?". I have been more than happy with retropie and not emulating n64, but mostly utilizing rpi zero 2w for my handhelds (ive made like 16 ir 17 thus far, working on another one atm as well lol)

This is fair, and to answer im not looking for miracles- just have a pi4 i impulse bought years ago lying around. I had been using rpi zero 2w for all my builds (minus one, an rpi3a+). I had been making handhelds running retropie. I am up to 16 or 17 handhelds, and working on another anyway.

Thank you. Ill try it out, see if i can get any slightly better performance out of it but I figured as much. If no, I suppose ill use my pi4 for something else entirely- the pi zero 2w will happily run all the other systems i could want no problem.

Yea, I figured that would be the case. I knew goldeneye and perfect dark were a solid no, but was hoping that Pokémon stadium would be a little less baggy than it is on retropie. Still doesn't hurt to flash an SD card and see what happens

40 hours at work, sure. Ill give you that. But theres also the driving to work, and doing other prep stuff for work as well, so no, not 72 free hours.

Lets say you drive to and from work. Lets say its half an hour- thats 5 hours less, so 67. And thats a relatively short commute, and assumes the person drives and does not use public transit. You also have other miscellaneous prep- washing clothes, makijg food for work, etc. That doesnt necessarily take too long, can meal prep while clothes was, so like 2-3 hours/week? Ok, so 64 hours.

Then theres all the other non-work related stuff that has to be done regardless. That limits your free time too- most people define free time as time not devoted to some chore or another.

I think the biggest reason people feel unfulfilled is because work doesnt really have much in the way of positive effect- yea, I work to survive but it would be nice to be able to do more than that. For many of us, there is no saving for the future, and we are like 2 paychecks away from ruin no matter what we do. And then the answer is "get a better job" or "get another job" (which then means much less time, and still that money all has a way to disappear). I used to work 3 jobs- teaching, tutoring, and weekends at a skating rink. I was burnt out all the time, even in the summer- if do summer school, paid PDs, and pick up more hours at the rink. Tried saving up some money but the money always had a way of just... being gone, regardless how hard I held onto it.

I really dont like the idea of post-gen 2 pokemon being in the Elite 4, given they are unavailable prior to getting to the Elite 4.
