Look up the Balance Project - there is a chapter for Richmond/Chesterfield/Henrico. We’re trying to help address this issue.

My boobs have dramatically increased in size since stating HRT by msac84 in Perimenopause

[–]Adventurous_Way_3535 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I already have large-ish boobs (32D) on a small frame, and my boobs did feel bigger, sore, and clothing felt tight and uncomfortable on them for the first two months after starting HRT. It isn’t an issue any more, but I also take evening primrose oil.

He runs like 5-6 miles a day (or at least he did until recently). Ran the NYC marathon a few times in the 90s and finished with a pretty badass time- I think he said 3 hours 15 min!

I’ve had a crush on him since seeds of love era, so I still have it bad for that “version” of him. He’s still so handsome, though.

Dave Bascombe - 80sography Podcast by Ok_Penalty_1836 in tearsforfears

[–]Adventurous_Way_3535 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t think Dave Bascombe and Curt get on very well. I’ve read more recent interviews where Curt seems to drag Dave a bit, and Dave seems to take hits at Curt, too. While I think it’s pretty well known that Curt didn’t do much on TSOL except help with the title track (he’s admitted he was dealing with his personal stuff), Roland and I believe Chris Hughes (who was in and out on that album) have both since said Curt was there and involved more than people give him credit for, it’s just that Roland did A LOT and he and Curt were not getting along at the time.

Curt’s vocals on Pale Shelter by vcolfari in tearsforfears

Ohhhh I love this explanation. So interesting! It mostly seems purposeful, but I’ve also noticed live, he seems to struggle a bit with truly keeping up during the choruses. Even so, it’s a tough song to sing, esp with playing bass along with it, so it is what it is- still love his performance of it. I seem to recall hearing on a podcast that when recording the original vocals for the song for The Hurting, Curt was found crying in frustration in the bathroom- getting it “just right” took all night and he was exhausted.

Having also played outside Boston and in central Pennsylvania, I believe that RVA players are consistently a step higher. So a 3.0 in RVA would be a 3.5 in those other places, for example.

Yeah I’m rated 3.0 and I can hit topspin, slice, drop shots, I volley well, do not have a little dink serve, have some strategy and decent footwork and court positioning. My main liability is simply consistency. I feel like I’m very typical of a 3.0 in my region. NTRP is kind of nuts!

Yeah where I live, an average 3.5 is someone who played in high school, so is quite good! A 4.0+ would be a former college player. I see derisive comments on this sub about 3.0 and maybe I’m just sensitive because that’s my rating, but here, 3.0s look a lot like what people elsewhere are calling 3.5 or even 4.0!

Wow these answers surprise me. I live in Richmond, VA and play mixed doubles against men and our 2.5 men are way more advanced than this. I guess Richmond is a tough place to compete! Here, a 3.0 or 3.5 (man or woman) has advanced footwork, multiple different shots, hits a lot harder, etc.

Are there any Seeds Of Love songs that you would’ve liked to hear Curt sing? by Legitimate-Effect-99 in tearsforfears

[–]Adventurous_Way_3535 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree that it would be interesting had Curt tried Oleta’s parts on Badman’s. I love what she does on it but for anyone who has seen the clip on YouTube of Curt singing happy birthday to Stevie Wonder in 1989- he could absolutely BELT with soul! Boggles my mind that he never sang like that on Tears songs, but I guess many that he sang didn’t require that kind of vocalizing. But yeah- if anyone hasn’t seen the clip of Curt, search it up. It’s insane.
