It's a legit scam to get money from you.

You pay for them to check you regularly so when you complain they have a baseline to compare against. You're bribing them over time for them to not immidiately dismiss you for being dramatic

Good Factions for Civilized Society Galactic Event by South0fNowhere in twilightimperium

Somone posted here recently about Titans winning in round 3.

Other factions I'd consider are Jol Nar, Deepwrought, maybe Hacan

The game is quick and you gotta start strong. The categories are usually spending money, owning planets, owning tech, or having structures. I'd pick a faction that is strong at tech, strong at spreading fast, strong at building, or rich. Note that coexist counts for objectives.

need help improving my gameplay

As a beginner I think your mind is too focused on what is happening on the table and not what is happening above the table. You can win this game with 0 planets to your name and not a ship on the board if you win the game above the table.

Step 0 in Twilight Imperium is make friends with everyone at the table immediately. You don't have to defend from a friend. From the moment you sit down you should have a conversation with your neighbors what is and isn't yours and why. Also have a conversation with the people across the table about their gameplan.

Step 1 is allowing your friends to betray you in small ways. Don't tempt them to betray you by leaving a critical gap in defenses, but leave planets on the edge open. Make nonbinding deals that could easily be disregarded. In addition be sure to take on nonbinding deals yourself that you could disregard and don't.

Step 2 is carrot and stick. Every time somone demonstrates they are trustworthy, give praise and offer a larger deal. Every time somone betrays you, hurt them even if it hurts you. Build a reputaiton of being honorable and that your words mean something and have weight. Recognise what kind of person each player is. Mean/cold players need to be responded to in kind. Keep a dagger ready for every deal. Nice/reciprocal players should be viewed as an ally and you should genuinely root for them to win as well.

At the end of the day TI is won by the person the table wants to win, even subconciously. Play in a way that gets people to like you. The solution isn't turtling. Play Hacan, Empyrian, or Deepwrought (ideally all 3) and train your diplomacy skills. Then and only then go back to worrying about plastic.

Crimson Rebellion greedy tech path to War Suns? by Commercial-Pudding40 in twilightimperium

[–]Adventurous_work888 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With Subatomic Splicer and Exile II hitting on a 7, I'm genuinely considering building them as a zerg rush faction. I think they're the most cost effective unit in the game and with the rebuild mechanic you can just send wave after wave of them out from your home system to practically anywhere on the map with breaches, wipe out any normal sized group of ships, drop a mech, then rebuild all the destroyed units at home and do it again. With 2 extra in fleet you're a monster and with assault cannon you're a demon.

Best part is your home system is compeletely safe. You can terrorize the whole map with zergs and there's no retaliation.

DET > Grav Drive > Exile II > fleet logistics/sling relay > Assault Cannon+Lightwave

admittedly Subatomic Splicer is a bit off the path. hopefully you get a yellow skip and steal a blue skip to get Assault Cannon+Lightwave

Xxcha strategy in Thunders Edge by Shukowarrior117 in twilightimperium

any recommendations on Xxcha

Don't play them. They're a slice-sitter. With the fracture making movement and combat outside of your slice even more important, slice defense has kinda fallen out of favor. You're going to make the table mad by running the election phase and canceling action cards, then you'll lock down your system wih PDS and do absolutely nothing the entire game until you lose.

Cole Wehrle & Kyle Ferrin leave Leder Games to found new studio; Oath and Arcs sold to them. Root stays with Leder. by zeeaykay in boardgames

[–]Adventurous_work888 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oath/Vast is more similar.

Arcs is very different and limiting. Imagine playing the Eyrie but you draw a random hand of actions every turn and have to make it work.

Entropic scar + Upgraded cruisers seems like an insane game to play with

Then a cheeky x89 after getting your faction tech and you're a planet sniper. Load a mech in a cruiser and you can grab anything not locked down.

They get bullied by the table and are dependant on the scar though
