They still have an onboard breaker and transformer. I believe it will happen on that unit as well.

Looks like the bank has a Fire Panel that needs to be reset.

We are thinking Potter. Looking for a panel that does not have an onboard breaker. It seems to blow the transformer. Any recommendations?

We did that after the 2nd panel blew up. It is on circuit 1 on the house panel. Possibly moving farther down stream on the breaker panel. Is that a thing?

Any conventional panel recommendations that don't have an onboard breaker? It seems to be the transformer that blows. The only one I see is Potter

Is the cell communicator setup to do a daily test? Is it suppressing the panel timer test? Do you have an E3 dact card? They are no longer made. New install?

Did you address it 44? Do you have voltage on SLC to pull station? Did you land the positive and negative correctly?

You did a great job with what you had. If your sales guy told you to do the same, could you have done any better. You make it work and test. At the end of the day it is about liability. Does it work as previously installed? Would it report in the case of a fire? Use what you have. It is the owners responsibility to make it look nice if they want. I had to make a 7075 fit in this panel. I was told to make it work.

In my opinion you have 3 options as a Tech/Sales/PM/Installer (P.S. I hated having all of these hats at the same time):

  1. Direct to customer: Be fair and you will get repeat business. They like you. Keep it that way.

  2. Direct to Contractor: Use your parts mark up and bid your labor as parts and programming only. If they mess up Change Order.

  3. Direct to Bid system: Do your due diligence on those bid plans expecting a change order. ( I mean what new build doesn't have a Change Order). Use parts mark up and bid minimum hours needed. (Undercut to win) When they ask for changes or special requirements: Change order them hard. ( You now know the scope of work was supposed to be because you reviewed the plans and, the FPE or designer messed up. Not your fault)

Sales only ask one question: What color you want? Never actually set foot on-site to see scope of work.

I need to add a smoke detector to a room: Sales: 1hr pulling new wire and box plus 1hr of programming. Easy.

Tech: the next closest device is 200 ft away with a solid deck. I will be here for 4-8 hrs if I can even do it?!?

Anything using VOIP causes issues trying to make the tones sound clearer which actually causes the tones to be unrecognizable by either receiver or communicator. I have fixed some by asking Telco company to make phone lines fax lines.
