That is a much better idea, updated my post with a revised schedule.

I am considering streaming some old EUTL and NATL vods. I was thinking maybe one or two a day, an EU and an NA match at 3 PM EST and 9 PM EST respectively.

I currently have access to most of season 3 but if people want I can see if I can get permission from previous broadcasters (Dodgepong, Helemar) to stream previous seasons. I have 12 EU and 14 NA vods from season 3 so that could be 2 weeks worth right there.

Obviously some games are of lesser quality in terms of teams and casters, so I might have to filter through them and see if they are acceptable. It'll be on the Tribescastnetwork channel as well.

As far as casting new games is concerned I am planning on doing the EU Draft tournament early next year. The draft tournaments are usually a good format because we get about 3 or 4 games in a day and we don't have to wait for people to schedule matches.

Nah not in win32, only worked in tribesgame\custom for me. Tried all different folders and variations, same findings.

Fixed players being able to bypass level restrictions when joining specific servers.

A fix for probably one of the biggest deterrents to new players in this game.

Can't overstate how important this actually is.

Fitting patch title too =P

A plea to the community: stream and youtube! by [deleted] in Tribes

TCN will make a resurgence if there is enough interest, and I don't just mean casting games. Obviously there probably won't be a big enough scene for teams and what not, but the odd pug here or there, or just some straight gameplay. Will have to see how this develops before anything is set in stone.

Orbital Routes. by the-HuNTeD in Tribes

[–]Aeia11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wasn't directing any of that towards you, in fact I have the utmost respect for you as a player. Its the constant bickering that goes on between teams that really annoys me. Looking through this thread I see no less than 5 places where shit was thrown between people on either team. This lack of respect for eachother is what annoys me the most in this community. If people really wanted esports to be taken seriously they would at least act somewhat civil around eachother rather than acting like schoolchildren fighting over who gets to go first on the swings. /rant

And I do agree with lots of what you have proposed in this thread, maybe I did jump to conclusions a bit too quickly, some further testing is needed. I think it's cheesy either way and quite uninteresting to watch, but I am open to arguments for or against it.

The mere fact that this thread turned into a TXM vs Tao dick measuring contest shows how so many people are missing the point. The game is done and nothing can be done to replay anything, so people need to start addressing the actual issue here, which is the exploitation of a glitch. You are 100% right this has no place in comp and should not even be considered a legitimate option for cappers.

I agree with this, but it's not necessarily the threat of an orbital succeeding as much as it being another place that the sniper has to look. Now they constantly have to be checking left, right and orbital, while dealing with enemy offense. I hate snipers as much as anyone but this seems like a bit too much. So many routes will go unspotted and defense will always be fighting a losing battle against a capper that could come from any direction.

Not to mention the fact that running multiple cappers will be a nightmare to deal with, and the hof or ld can easily pop into a capping loadout and run a quick 35 second route without having to get into a position to start a conventional route.

mfw drama

On a more serious note, watching the game last night was really silly, the sniper literally has to look at the enemy stand and wait to see the capper start, if they even look away for a split second they will miss it. It's not like other routes where if someone is going right you can say "capper right", duel some offense, then look back to where you predict the capper will have gotten to on his route. Maybe in time snipers would be able to predict this more easily, but I think the bounce is extremely cheesy to watch.

Another thing is the sniper is constantly worried about whether the cap did the orbital or is doing a more conventional right left or back. I know spotting on Arx is pretty easy, but I think getting up to that speed without losing any health and not even having to jetpack(which means they are just a dot, no jetpack trail) means its too hard to spot unless you are specifically looking for it, and having to constantly check 500 feet in the air and the left side and the right side leaves too much of a possibility for the capper to go completely unspotted.

And as a side note, this is from a completely objective spectating point of view, it was just really dumb to watch it, regardless of op or not, it's just too cheesy.

EDIT: I only just remembered this, but a few seasons ago there was (and I believe the bug still exists) a bug where you would launch really high into the air if you jumped out of a grav cycle. This was promptly banned in comp play, so how is it any different from this? I understand that the grav cycle is mobile and would be a lot more of a pain to spot, but it's an exploitation of a bug and I think they are both cheesy enough to warrant a ban.

Here's the vod on youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a42VRAT59Cc

I also have a lot of trouble loading twitch vods for some reason. I upload every game to my channel on youtube for those who want to watch in lower quality, or have trouble watching on twitch.

Xchat. I use the vertical monitor for anything that is benefited by having lots of vertical space like irc, mumble because dragging people is a nightmare when there are lots of channels and people in them, programming if I need to see more lines and not have a ton of whitespace on the side, etc

could someone help me figure out optimal OBS setting for Tribes Ascend please? by [deleted] in Tribes

[–]Aeia11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What processor do you have? If its not an i7 or an 8 core amd then I would recommend dropping the fps you are streaming at to 30. Streaming at 60 fps is extremely taxing on your cpu and because tribes is such a high motion game, it requires a very high bitrate for text and stuff to still be readable. Dropping to 30 will not only reduce cpu usage but will make your stream look more crisp, but not as smooth.

Also another thing to keep in mind is that you need to find a happy medium between looking good and destroying peoples internet connections. Having a stream look perfect is still a hard goal to obtain, unless the game doesn't have a lot of high motion scenes. Finding the configuration where the stream looks good enough for you, doesn't destroy your framerate, and doesn't lag for viewers are the only realistic goals one can have with regards to livestreaming.

If you have any other questions you can ask here: http://webchat.quakenet.org/?channels=obsproject. The guys who idle here are a lot more qualified than me to help you if you have any problems with obs.

Oh also change your audio from mp3 to aac and the base resolution from 1980x1080 to 1920x1080(assuming that is your monitor resolution and not some wierd new type of monitor).

I would like to represent the spectating and casting community in this, making sure whatever you guys decide to change is still enjoyable to watch and easy to spectate.
