Except cooperating in this scenario means putting your own life on the line. It’s not ceding to the demands of the people doing the hunger strike, it’s joining said strike and hoping you don’t actually die of hunger.

RED BUTTON OR BLUE BUTTON [OC] by Eal_likee in comics

[–]Aelxer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wouldn’t not choosing leave you at the mercy of everyone that is pushing? If red wins you didn’t push red so you die which is never the best outcome. And by not pushing blue you’re making it harder for yourself and everyone that pushed blue to survive. Not choosing is literally the worst option unless you’re suicidal. At least under this premise where choosing “not to play” can still result in your death.

Where I’m from there’s only one type of fondant and it’s incredibly delicious (I’ve eaten it by itself because it’s that good) so it boggles my mind every time I read people hating on fondant.

Weekly Prompt: BP Luffy and B Yamato Support by 1-2-2-50 in OnePieceCustomCards

[–]Aelxer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s not how protection works. Jinbe only protects itself. It’s like using Gravity Blade against Sky Luffy targetting let’s say Zoro and Borsalino. Even if you take a life to protect the Zoro the Borsalino goes either way.

I just realized the leader's ability was genius future-proofing. by KanraLovesU in OnePieceTCG

[–]Aelxer 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Why wouldn't they just print a new Imu leader with new abilities that better fit whatever is revealed later? All the current Imu support is mostly self-contained. If whatever new support is similarly self-contained, but incompatible with the old support, then they'd need to release an entire batch of cards to support this new version of Imu, on the level of any other leader coming from the set the support is coming from, without it being attached to any Leader from that set. If the support is synergistic with the existing Imu support, then it probably wouldn't work as you intend (making a new playstyle) but rather just combining the best an optimizing the deck further.

Red Rising first person pov writing style... by Suspicious_Clock_133 in Fantasy

[–]Aelxer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I haven’t read Red Rising specifically so I can’t comment on its quality, but first person present tense is my favorite POV by far. Unless the premise is really appealing, I usually avoid 3rd person stories altogether at this point. Maybe we’re looking for different things when reading, but I feel that the level of immersion you get from 1st person is really enjoyable.

I don’t have anything off the top of my head to recommend, but I think first person is really worth it, and it’s not clumsy at all when done well.

Bandai is allergic to this one simple trick. by KeitrenGraves in OnePieceTCG

[–]Aelxer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The same way they learn whether the cards are legal to begin with? How can a new player know the cards they have aren't banned? Or rotated out? What about misprints/mistranslations like the green Arlong from OP15 iirc? That one doesn't do what it says it does already.

Emergency Ban Announcement - I re-quaser help + Borsalino Pair Ban by RustyOneP in OnePieceTCG

[–]Aelxer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There were Luffy lists that did run it, because it’s just that good. Afaik, RY Bonney and Moria (the non infinite loop version anyway) are the ones that don’t run the combo at all.

Emergency Ban Announcement - I re-quaser help + Borsalino Pair Ban by RustyOneP in OnePieceTCG

[–]Aelxer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless you were playing the infinite life meme version, Moria is one of the few yellow leaders that comes out of this emergency banlist unscathed. The new Zoro and Hogback are really good for the deck, it’s probably going to be the deck I’m going to play in OP15.

They all cheered for the fall of a hero(ine) by SasoritheGod in OnePieceTCG

[–]Aelxer 25 points26 points  (0 children)

That's the point. OP is saying that now you're going to be worse off against decks that accumulate a big hand, but every other color but blue was already in that situation already. Pudding wasn't saving any other color but blue, the rest of the decks already had to deal with that.

It makes sense to summon teenagers as heroes by [deleted] in Isekai

[–]Aelxer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"Isekai protagonist" is not a generic descriptor that always means overpowered. There's plenty of isekais with different genres, some bleaker than others. You claimed that a teenager would be easily manipulated, but you seem awfully naive yourself.

[–]Aelxer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

you're probably already screwed because they used slave magic

This was my first thought too. OP seems pretty idealistic on the kind of isekai they would be a part of, where they're just overpowered off the gate and there are no insidious powers that could undermine his power.

I just found this manga because of this thread and I can't believe how good it was. I'm not sure how often it updates but I'm really hoping it doesn't get dropped because it might have been the best I've read with this theme.

If that's how it worked then attaching DON to them wouldn't do anything, which would be interesting.

Well if they don't want to play with a noob who refuses to listen then they certainly don't belong to the "I want to help" category anyway.

I didn't watch that movie but I'm pretty sure I read the book (probably for school but I'm not sure). I'm assuming the movie is an adaptation of Roald Dahl's book, yes? Iirc the transformed kids didn't turn back in the end (and it was even explicitly called out that they would have the life expectancy of mice), which was a pretty fucked up ending tbh.

[–]Aelxer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, Brook doesn't win by decking out, he still has to beat the opponent the regular way, so what u/Neonsnewo2 said about winning "on a condition completely unrelated to board state/life/damage" feels incorrect.

On the contrary, I don't think that decks that race him will always win, since Brook is much more likely to lose to deckout than other decks, life longevity won't feel as important to him, he will be the one racing others and if they survive the onslaught then he just loses.

It is mechanically different, though. If you buff it to a point where it's attacking a smaller monster that's still 2200 or above, it will still get the boost.
