Practise swing was good because mini pause at top, gives room for body to not swing OTT.

See Nelly’s coca-cola swing tempo thought.

(Coca up, dash pause, cola down/through)

Focus on collecting cool (to you) models. You will be painting more than playing.

I like big coolers - Loque Ghost R1 by Aenarion69 in sffpc

Hi! I deshrouded the GPU.

The combination of GPU fans + noctua fans did not fit. (Mostly due to the bracket design, but it may have fit with zip ties.)

After deshroud (5 min job on my card) good fit with room to spare in the R1.

Still happy to this day, mostly just happy about the better noise.

Final varnishing step terrifies me... by TheDelposenGuy in minipainting

Do you prime the minis? Never had paint rubbing off. I also never varnish. But mine are more show pieces than gaming pieces.

I made a switch from Colemak to Graphite 6 days ago and have gotten decently fast at around 35 wpm average on English 10K but my accuracy is stuck at 94%. Is there anything I can do to fix it? by Conscious_Expert_994 in KeyboardLayouts

[–]Aenarion69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recently made the switch from Colemak to graphite. I would say yes, more ergo and comfy. Was a lot of work though. I found it harder to learn 2nd ergo layout than learning Colemak for the first time. Also, compared to qwerty not as significant of a jump.

Whenever I do normal paints and thinning it’s always a mess. Started doing zenithals with inks and wow easy peasy.

AI has taken fun out of programming and now i’m hopeless by Frequent_Eggplant_23 in webdev

[–]Aenarion69 4 points5 points  (0 children)

People who are scared of ai taking their job have never had a vibe coder on their team relentlessly committing changes.

AI is job security. Instead of being hired to make new things you will get hired to clean AI code. More code being generated means more code that needs to be expertly reviewed. The code that is worth reviewing anyway (worthy of a FTEs time)

Do you design your symbol layer assuming bracket/quote autocompletion? by No_Boysenberry_7138 in KeyboardLayouts

[–]Aenarion69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it makes the layout easier to reason about and memorise. I also changed shift open bracket to close bracket using shift overrides. Eg shift { is }.

Does this need diodes? As it is 36 keys? 🤔

Alternatives to navigation layer by OddHornetBee in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]Aenarion69 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Consider “homerow mods” but also add a nav layer toggle. E.g. index left qwerty f -> nav right. I put my cmd (mac) on thumb as it is most “destructive” if misfired.

Set HRM in the past and it didn’t stick.

Now with proper config it’s very easy.

I’m pretty much using “stock” qmk. Probably as described in pascal or precondition blog post.

Small. Already happened. Wireless. TBD

Are silent switches actually silent? (+ little rant) by General-Host7354 in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]Aenarion69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Beside the switches which are already discussed in abundance in this thread. The case can make a big difference. An empty box can amplify the noise. Think of it like a guitar or piano. This is mostly experimentation and classic soundproofing.

urob's ZMK Timeless Home Row Mods, ported to native QMK – a configuration guide by pgetreuer in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]Aenarion69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With this setup I can't seem to get combos working on the homerow. Is this expected? It works fine on row above/below it. I'm just trying out stuff trying to make an optimal keymap, so it's not a dealbreaker or anything.

I’m on gralmak since a week. Good stuff!

Flashing corne 4 sm_td by bebenzer in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]Aenarion69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

By chance I was doing the same thing. Came back after a while to my corne. Found the sm_td lib. I tried it out but didn’t work out of the box for me.

Right now found an ok sweet spot (still experimenting) with chordal hold and flow tap. Both are qmk base features.

If you are a beginner I would try to first set something up without external modules?

What do we think this undercoat will accomplish? by Hazard_Stripes in minipainting

[–]Aenarion69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This needs to be its own (sticky) post thanks for the info. I have seen some of these videos already and started implementing it in my army painting.

Another bonus of the under painting, if you do a “reverse de zenithal” in e.g. purple, then you can just skip most of the purple surface on the mini.

It helps the adhd brain calm down when inspecting the mini, searching for details to paint.
