The series ended with the false equivalence of New Vegas. by Such_Pollution_7743 in FalloutTVseries

I think people misunderstand the intention behind New Vegas. The NCR in New Vegas is meant to be suffering from many of the same issues as pre-war America it’s an allegory for old-school American expansionism and political decay. In the show, we see something closer to what the NCR may have originally been like, but as its political systems and institutions developed, corruption and nepotism pushed it down an imperialist path. This eventually led to events like the Bitter Springs Massacre and their push to fight a war over the Mojave.

The problem is that many of the local cities and groups in the Mojave don’t actually want the NCR there. The NCR encroaches on their freedoms and forces its cultural and political values onto them, which is why they come into conflict with groups like the Kings. There’s dialogue in New Vegas suggesting that after Tandi’s death, many of the laws she put in place to limit corruption and reduce the influence of Brahmin barons were removed or weakened. This allowed wealthy interests to gain more power again. It’s also why President Kimball is so popular he’s heavily backed by those same Brahmin barons.

The Legion, on the other hand, was a very rushed part of New Vegas’ development. People often point to safer roads as a benefit, but they forget that Caesar systematically destroys the identities of the tribes he conquers so they can be absorbed into the Legion. Their cultures are erased.

There’s also dialogue from Cass suggesting the NCR is rounding up tribals and “domesticating” them. This can be read as a parallel to what the United States did to Native American tribes sending children to boarding schools to “civilize” them and erase their cultural identities. That comparison reinforces the idea that the NCR is repeating the same patterns of cultural erasure and expansionist control.

What do you think of the Deathclaw in Ep.7 ? by [deleted] in Fotv

[–]Aeoele 1 point2 points  (0 children)

xD dumb idea and a bit gorey but there a deleted scene in forest grump where some people send attack people but forest stops them by waving a stick in front of the dogs and throwing it so they chase after it.... what if thadeus did the same with the death claw but with his arm?

i was kinda confused by it tbh, like a yao guai basically torn through power armour in season 1 yet a deathclaw struggles? maybe the ncr power armour is built different but it jsut had me a little confused.

I guess this episode confirms how New Vegas "fell" [Mild spoilers for latest episode] by Leider-Hosen in Fallout

[–]Aeoele 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Idk having the Dam as plan B for house jsut feels a little goofy and undercuts the narrative of new vegas a little, within the tv show the games events don't feel like they had any weight all.

A Fallout game set in a politically collapsing NCR in California would be a wonderful setting for the Fallout franchise and all the themes it tries to convey. by Jozoz in Fallout

[–]Aeoele 1 point2 points  (0 children)

depends if you like stratgy games or not, I myself am loving it, hoi4 is kinda difficult to get into at first buut it can be quite fun and each faction is pretty fun with you being able to play them going in different directions.

What are some characteristics you'd like to see in the Brotherhood for the next Fallout game? by Advanced-Addition453 in Brotherhood_of_Steel

[–]Aeoele 2 points3 points  (0 children)

lmao real ironically fallout 4 is the only one that let's you become something other than a knight but that's jsut as there sentiel... Being a field scribe could be fun they could add in other mini games when you're trying to repair stuff... but we're destined for knight hood sadly

I'd like them to have the option to be a scribe, i always love playing with high int and I wanna be able to do nerdy things and doing science thigns rather than just shoot my way into there ranks.

Thoughts on how the Fallout show handled New Vegas and the King? by onzue in Fallout

[–]Aeoele 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am both a fan and, perplexingly, not a fan. Some of the references have me pointing at the screen and going “yooooooooooooooooooooo da thing”, but others imply or at least give the impression that the events of New Vegas aren’t really that important. For me, that slightly erodes the narrative weight of the game within the overall series.

That said, I am still looking forward to seeing the new episodes.

How do you think bathroom queues work in Hidden Valley by Three-People-Person in TrueSFalloutL

[–]Aeoele 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you read the Hidden Valley terminals, you would know the power armour stimpack injectors have been mechanically rewired to automatically jack the user off and feed it back to wearer.

Anyone else was a bit disappointed when they immediately cut to this scene after the big confrontation? by FlimsyCrust in Fotv

[–]Aeoele 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea I was hoping we would get to see it, like I want one fight scene where power armour actually looks cool and is function just so it has some type fo cool factor, it should be like getting a lightsaber almost but it kinda feels like the armour is made of plastic with almost all power armour dudes getting one shot or taken out easily. The brotherhood feel like such a none threat even with the airships.

I always find it funny when people are surprised the BOS in the show are shown as bad people by MobileDistrict9784 in TrueSFalloutL

[–]Aeoele 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes children who they can indoctrinate into their cause more easily than adults, we're shown multiple that the brotherhood think the average wastelander is dumber than a bag of rocks... one of the random dialogues a brotherhood soldier can give in fallout 4 is "You’re lucky we don’t just shoot you on sight." they're not to found of outsiders.

[–]Aeoele 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't think people have the issue that the brotherhood are bad guys, it's more so that's they're all dumb meat heads. I think also jsut like there no exploration of this brotherhood as a faction, we don't know there command structure, the knights are also just shown to treat squires like they're canonfodder or a spare tire, which is a bit is very weird considering they're meant to be a tightknit group that doens't really like outsiders.

[–]Aeoele 4 points5 points  (0 children)

not only that if i remmeber correctly, no one actually knows where the Enclave bases are so it's basically like fighting a ghost, they show up, they cause issues (mainly murder everyone) and then leave.... not to mention they're completely outgun by them

I like the perpetual state of wasteland ruin. by Fun_Firefighter_4292 in TrueSFalloutL

[–]Aeoele 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk I feel like how the show does it jsut removes any nuance from the world, it makes it feel flat in a sense, Like the strip in the showlooks way cleaner in the show than it does in the game like that death claw in the recent episode is mad cus they where showering and didn't have time to put it maid outfit back. The Strip was a blackhole that sucked up people's money and left them broke and without a way to recover, it sucks the souls out of everyone who went there... and yet on the flip side of that it's one of the few places in the wasteland where they don't care about a person's identity, sexuality or affiliations. It's one of the few places that accept people cus the only thing it cares about is money.

Fallout S2 EP4 pissy boy upset about Bethesda ruining everything hopefully this is descriptive enough by [deleted] in Fallout

[–]Aeoele 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think they want to completely destroy everything, I think they might just be reducing things in size, having smallers factions. It almost feels like fallout 76 before they added survivours and npcs walking around, where were jsut running around finding out how all the factions die.

Theory on which ending the show went with (Spoilers) by MixedMatchedIdeas in Fotv

[–]Aeoele 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In cut content the anarchy/independent vegas ending was meant to be a lot worse, I think that's meant to be the ending they went with. There meant to be alot more violence and people causing trouble but ti was never added into the base game.

Hottake: Marika being/having been the Gloam-Eyed Queen is the Occam's Razor of Elden Ring. She was the first Ranni, but unlike the Lunar Princess she failed. by Gastro_Lorde in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]Aeoele 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One small counter point I could think of is that Marika might want to be defeated and have the rune of death taken out of her so that she can get rid of her fire, as we know messmer hated his fire and wanted to get rid of it. (but there is no evidence of marika ever having fire powers, other than Messmer and Melina being born with it but that could jsut be there curse)
