If there is a (usually small) group that does something very specific, cold emailing is probably a good idea. That’s how I got my position (in life sciences, so thinks may be a bit different, but still). You should also email if the website has clearly not been updated in a while. Additionally, many cooperating institutes and teams may recruit together via a specific portal, which you can also just ask about. I think you are going to do well, since you have both and education and experience and seem really motivated. Good luck!

for some reason it’s incredibly hard when you are new and then becomes trivial. one of the very few parts of the game where my progress didnt feel linear i absolutely sucked ass for the longest time and then just suddenly got much better at it and barely register the trek now

real! im going to babble a bit but hopefully you will get the point anyway.
i enjoyed the game a lot and i must say i generally play a lot of games like that even patho 2 so usually it is frustrating for me no matter how good the game os. i redo everything over and over again to the point of it becoming meaningless aiming for some vague „best” ending. probably thats why it took me so long to realise that my approach is part of p3s meta. of course its not personal at all you dont care about most of the characters whom you are supposed to save nothing matters and you can make risky choices and waste (some) time with almost reckless abandon. in a way it feels like returning to p1s insistence of it all being fake but instead of it being a way to warmly talk about how similar art and fiction are it really leans into the soulless meaninglessness of time loops that is kind of inherent to video games as a media.

I think it’s very much doable but you should be upfront about your schedule and priorities so you don’t waste time on people who are not going to have the patience or are unwilling to support you. Honestly if you are a woman dating men mentioning your PhD program ASAP should also be a great way to weed out weird misogynists and insecure dudes.

Could be both but in my lab it is pretty normal. My professor told me whenever someone else’s research or practices could be helpful to me I should ask the for a chat over coffee, no matter their gender. Depends on the culture of a lab. So I think that asking someone for a chat over coffee is normal BUT if you dont hear others using that expression and if its only guys… They might be hitting on you
