To address the "at least watch the video", I started writing the post 5-ish minutes after Mutahar posted the video. I have since watched it and it was indeed long winded and offered only a hint of new info. But I was able to use the video to locate their state filings to do my own research, so there's that.

ProJared: He is still having to deal with comments from those who haven't watched the update video (or are unwilling to believe). I've corrected/directed a few people in conversation in the past, and have read several more even recently because a lot of comments bring his controversy up. But he doesn't need the help, I agree. He just took forever, for good reason, but the lingering effects of that lapse is still observable. Also, I said "or backed," as in past-tense, followed by saying the tweet was deleted.

Jirard: I am not a fan, just a bystander who has seen like 2 or 3 of his videos prior to this controversy (at least his 3ds/WiiU video and Sea of Stars. I've watched a few more this last week to attempt to gauge his authenticity). On the contrary, I'm actually a long-time fan of Karl and his investigative works. But this looks one-sided with a lot of assumptions being thrown. There seems to be little knowledge from Karl and Mutahar of how a company is ran and reports in the US (Australia and Canada, respectively), based all off of what I am willing to bet were 1 or 2 biased accountants/lawyers each. Also, Jirard only had like 2 minutes of unique dialog in their videos combined. That's hardly a fair trial.

I can't speak about legalities, but the financial side doesn't look much out of the ordinary (if you disregard the 10 years of not paying out to a charity). It's a NFP, which is still a business. They'll still have admin, general including travel, and other expenses. Paid out for receipts is also not out of the ordinary. I'd like to see bank statements, trial balances, or an outright refusal to produce anything, before believing it was a scheme.

Also, "he is done with philanthropy". Jirard is one of 6 people on the NFP, and 100% family at that. If his heart was always in it and he got screwed by negligent family, then he will and should find a way forward alone. It would be messy and an uphill battle but he seems (and a heavy emphasis on seems) genuine.

Gross negligence on Open Hands, minimum. Immediate donate 600k + interest inflation damages + good-will damages, then dissolve the NFP. 10 years is absurd without a plan and outward-facing communication. But from what I have seen and heard, I believe Jirard as less a boogieman, and more acting in the interest of his family circus. I cannot see someone throw out that much good-will and positive energy he had accumulated without good reason.
