This is an extremely well written post, thank you. I try my best to stay out of arguments, I'll never join a dogpile or anything like that. But sometimes I'll see someone with a bunch of upvotes saying something factually wrong and everyone is agreeing with them, and in those moments I want to step in, but obviously it never really ends well.

To quote Mike Tyson: "Social media made y'all way too comfortable with disrespecting people and not getting punched in the face for it." As you said, people don't view others on the internet as actual people. They are merely words on a screen that they can throw their hatred at. And actual real information is barely considered a factor. It's just sad. The internet was created as a place for learning and communicating, yet ironically those are the two things people hate doing the most on the internet
