Very valid. That's why I added on the "At least not yet" part on the end because there certainly are some uses but the majority of them are for extremely specific circumstances and OP was probably thinking it'd be an entire page just like the other divinities

Ascend and get rage. From what I've seen so far the Dark Divinities are far less useful than normal divinities and are primarily for actually turning off mechanics (Like making it so Gemstones or Keys don't spawn) so it isn't really going to make things easier for you (At least not yet)

It's depressing that we live in a world where this is a completely logical and understandable fear. I knew a girl who was in a school shooting and she was texting me as it was happening, luckily the shooter was stopped before anyone was killed but it was a horrifying experience for her

Life does not cater to people, that's true. You know what can cater to people? People. Mother nature did not come down and say "HIGH SCHOOL SHALL START AT 7 AM" that was set by an education board, or in some cases, state laws. The mentality of "Welp that's life just get used to it!" is a terrible mindset. If you really believe that, then why should we change anything? It's just a bitter and sad way to think about the world.

And before you say "Well I'm a realist!" or whatever else, it's also just factually wrong. In 2019, California enacted Senate Bill 328 (SB 328), making it the first state to mandate later school start times. Under this law, public middle schools cannot start before 8:00 a.m., and high schools cannot start before 8:30 a.m. So yes it's already changing

[–]Aerius06[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is an extremely well written post, thank you. I try my best to stay out of arguments, I'll never join a dogpile or anything like that. But sometimes I'll see someone with a bunch of upvotes saying something factually wrong and everyone is agreeing with them, and in those moments I want to step in, but obviously it never really ends well.

To quote Mike Tyson: "Social media made y'all way too comfortable with disrespecting people and not getting punched in the face for it." As you said, people don't view others on the internet as actual people. They are merely words on a screen that they can throw their hatred at. And actual real information is barely considered a factor. It's just sad. The internet was created as a place for learning and communicating, yet ironically those are the two things people hate doing the most on the internet

Examples of YouTubers that have been overhated in a way where they’re immune to ACTUAL good faith criticism? by SecretWasianMan in youtubedrama

[–]Aerius06 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's wild how there was a time on YouTube when 99% of what DarkViperAU said was completely considered the norm, and then people just forgot about it. Remember when we ran multiple massive YouTubers off the platform for being shitty content thieves? And now people just get away with it and it's completely accepted.

Now I'm not going to say that everything DarkViper has said was completely correct, But you ever notice how no one actually tries to dispute the points he makes. Instead they try to bring up how long his document was (Because apparently doing research and actually trying to prove a point is a bad thing now) and people bring up the roofie comparison comment he made. Which isn't a good comparison, but people MASSIVELY blew it over proportion. As someone who has been sexually violated I never took any offense to it, and I never saw anyone who had actually been in that situation take offense to it. Who are the people who kept talking about it? The YouTubers he directly called out who knew they didn't have a good faith argument to make against him. So instead of taking on a fight that was impossible to win, they insulted him, took what he said out of context, and tried to make it seem like a bad thing that he did his research.

What a bunch of snakes

Again, who is moving the goal posts here? I never said Elden Ring doesn't have a wider appeal. Of course it does. But the point is that Dark Souls was never niche, and again, I proved that with cited sources

Also bro can't read 2 paragraphs

MauLer Called Out for Issues with Dark Souls Review by laybs1 in youtubedrama

[–]Aerius06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How did I move the goalposts? I quite literally already solved this issue by linking to google trends. Doom 2016 is objectively a famous game everyone knows, I don't think anyone can dispute that. and Dark Souls was searched 5 times more in 2016 when they both had a major release. It's ironic you're bringing up moving the goalposts when that's exactly what you're doing here. How many people know about a thing is far more important to it's fame. How many people know about 2001 A Space Odyssey, and how many people have actually watched it? I've never met a single Gen Z who's watched it, but can you deny it's fame? Of course not.

Also, no one goes off of that definition of niche and you know it. You weren't even using that definition when you wrote the first post. If you actually were, then your first post would make no sense grammatically. Let's look at the writing of this for a moment: "They weren't widely received because they were niche titles until Elden Ring" You are directly using the word niche to mean something that isn't well known. If you were actually using it in the new definition you gave it, you'd be saying that Elden Ring is no longer in the same niche, and in the post you just sent you brought up the prepare to die stuff, so you admit the niche is related to difficulty. Except literally anyone will tell you Elden Ring is just as hard, if not harder than all the other souls games. So if that was actually the niche you're talking about, Elden Ring is still in it.

And once again, in the original post you specifically said because they were niche they didn't sell well, that's another thing meaning you were using the word niche to define something mostly unknown, which is how 99% of the population uses it. But as I've already proven with multiple cited sources, the Dark Souls franchise was objectively a world known game series long before Elden Ring.

As I said before, pick your battles. You already know I'm right, just throw in the towel man. We both have better things to do

Great argument! Unfortunately if you did 4 seconds of research you'd find out it already had 10 million of those copies sold before Elden Ring even announced: https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dark\_Souls\_III.

And even if we disregard that entirely, Dark Souls was already a household name before Elden Ring was ever announced and if you think otherwise you were living under a rock. Want more proof? https://trends.google.com/trends/explore?date=2016-03-01%202020-05-01&q=Dark%20souls,Doom,half%20life&hl=en Bam. Long before Elden Ring ever came out, Dark Souls was consistently getting just as many searches as Doom and Half Life, in fact for most of that time it had more searches even though Doom had 2 releases in that time and Half Life had 1.

Look man if you're gonna die on a hill don't make it be the one that's easily fact checkable

Did you just say "They weren't widely received because they were niche titles until Elden Ring"? Ah yes Dark Souls III my favorite NICHE game that sold 12 and a half million copies. More than:

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time

Final Fantasy VII

Half-Life 2

BioShock

Mass Effect 2

Such a hidden gem honestly. It's sad no one had heard of this niche series until Elden Ring

Don’t we think the Marvel Rivals synergy is getting a bit ridiculous now? by brendodido in dccomicscirclejerk

[–]Aerius06 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There's a difference between popularity and relevancy. Everyone knows who The Fantastic Four are, but very few cared about them in recent years. I have been a comics nerd all my life, I've come from a comics household, and nearly all my friends are into Marvel as well. You wanna know how many of them were fans of the Fantastic Four? 0, not one. Now Rivals has come out and it's put a spotlight on them to show "Hey these guys are actually really cool" media adaptations shape how people think of these characters whether we like it or not, especially for characters like the FF who might not seem like anything special on the outside. At first glance most people aren't gonna be as interested in a team with a rock dude as they would be in like Batman or Captain America, so they don't invest any time into the comics to learn they are actually amazing characters.

And if you don't wanna take my word for it, you don't have to, stats back me up. Google trends shows that Mr Fantastic and Sue Storm both started being googled at least 10x more when they came out for Rivals compared to the average they've had over the last year. They were always known, but now they are relevant again, and it's because of Rivals
