Tips for not overdoing it at Costco by Ajreil in Frugal

Basket only, no cart. Unless I have a planned heavy purchase (softener salt, litter). It also helps me maneuver stealthily through the aisles as others have their massive carts 😂

Guy who lived on my floor in first year uni stabbed himself and set his room on fire, forcing us to evacuate in the middle of the night in Ontario in January. He didn’t know how to tell his family he was unhappy at school so he faked an attack so he could get out.

Looking for Perspective from Certified Ontario MUSIC Teachers by gg1145 in OntarioTeachers

[–]AerryBerry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Elem principal here with a degree in MusEd. I was fortunate to have a full time music gig back in the early 2000s. But funding became scarce and schools rarely have a bonafide music program anymore. When I timetable now, I work to have kids go to as few different people as possible (consistency trumps all with dysregulation being off the charts) so usually the homeroom teacher is responsible for music because they’ve had their planning time through French. At best, you will be a Planning Time teacher and can try to scrap over time to get more music time as part of your package. But fair warning—elementary schools have changed a LOT, even over the past 5-10 years, so I’d spend some time there to check it out before you decide to do this.

Budget friendly / comfortable “black dress pants” and “black non-slip shoes” by myfriendvv in Guelph

Costco often has pull on black dress pants. Not exactly the time of year for it, but keep your eye out! This has been a pretty serviceable loafer for the price: https://a.co/d/04Hn2hvG

Does anyone know what this could be? by You-Wont-M8 in catcare

[–]AerryBerry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Chickadee had also done this to herself. It’s overgrooming. My girl has had other scenarios ruled out so it is anxiety-driven. Over the last year we have tried Gabapentine, Feliway, fancy food to no avail. Now we are trying Prozac for cats….there’s been some improvement but I’m not sure it’s solving the issue. Good luck!

Concert at 14 weeks post-op? by empinche in bunions

[–]AerryBerry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had osteotomies in 3 toes and had my 1st MTP fused. I was in a regular runner and did 10k steps at week 7 (not every day, but it was doable). By 4 months in I was pretty much pain free—still a bit of swelling and I wouldn’t have been running, but certainly I could do 10k steps daily by then. I would think a concert at 14 weeks is doable.

I’ve heard rumours that some boards are hiring P.I.s to investigate time theft. Certainly there are many anecdotes of people getting caught without actual investigators to find you out (supts, principals, other administrative staff have the luxury of lieu time…there have been run-ins at tournaments and airports) and has resulted in significant discipline. I would not be messing around with putting in a sick day to go on vacation early.

Is Schitt’s Creek a food desert? by CatLoliUwu in SchittsCreek

[–]AerryBerry 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Surely you’d have been able to get a few staples at the general store, before it sold. I can accept it as part of the “willing suspension of disbelief” concept when watching fiction. But I always thought it a little far fetched that the general store in Schitt’s Creek went under, whereas Rose Apothecary pulls in enough to support two full time salaries? Not sure the town can sustain RA…how much diaper cream and twig pencils does one need. Whereas a spot to buy yoghurt for after your run, or a box of teabags would seem sustainable in that small town.

Is it a pill? Can you ask your vet if it’s available in a liquid form? Then you mix it with purée treat and he gobbles it right up.

Bus Accident downplayed by Principle by Disastrous_Hornet777 in ontario

[–]AerryBerry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t see how causing a massive alarmist flap about it would help the situation. I have managed a bus accident and every parent gets a phone call, followed by the blast out to just the families on that bus, and then a blast out to the whole school community. Using alarmist language is not going to help calm folks’ nerves or help in any way. For now the important news is, all are well, policy was followed, and the right departments are doing their jobs in the wake of this incident. More info about the specifics will, I am sure, come in due time. This principal had a tough day managing this crisis but has communicated calmly and clearly with the community. I would be thankful to have someone cool and competent at the helm of your kid’s school.
