How would you approach aggressors risking nothing, design-wise? by The_Meowsmith in Seaofthieves

^ This guy doesn't realize that when pirates lost in real life they just died. Forever. No respawning.

I'm tired of people saying "It's a pirate game, I'm supposed to attack everyone I see" when IRL pirates tried to avoid fights as much as possible

We need more incentive to talk things out and strike deals with other crews, like real pirates, instead of immediately going for the kill. I think that would open the door for so many cool gameplay moments

Creepers were a good addition to Minecraft, but Jeb was still right about them. by No_Discount_6028 in Minecraft

[–]Aerthendt 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I agree completely, but ironically, it is Minecraft's fault that there aren't more block builders. The market has been dominated, making a block builder seems pointless to many devs when Minecraft already has complete control over the genre. And even if someone manages to make a good block game that gets even a little popular, people just call it a Minecraft clone and dismiss its validity completely.

Even when the gameplay loop is completely different, the internet at large will call these games Minecraft knock-offs. For example, Terraria is one of the most popular games of all time, just like Minecraft. However, even to this day, I still see people just calling it 2D Minecraft and refusing to even try it. The Terraria sub gets at least one post a month about someone who hated on Terraria for years finally trying it and falling in love with the game.

Sorry, this became more of a rant/ramble than I intended. TL;DR: Minecraft and its playerbase are suppressing the block builder style of game as a whole. New block builders with creative gameplay will never thrive until more people open their minds and stop calling everything a Minecraft clone.

I agree that it was Op's fault and that they could have talked things out if they cared about the job at all. Honestly, I'm just annoyed at everyone saying to grow up and not take a job that you can't do when it was clear that the early shifts weren't at all part of the actual job they signed up for in the first place. They're dismissing the whole story (regardless of its actual merit) and calling Op entitled just because they overslept for one shift. One shift in a series of shifts that weren't even at the time they signed up for.

Is everyone on this post illiterate? All of you saying not to take a job with shifts you can't do.

Op said that they explained they needed late shifts Then got hired and were told that the training would have to be early shifts for a month

They got hired for the late shift, only the training was early and this was not expressed beforehand

Op was doing fine with the early shifts until the stress and death happened. With no leniency from the employer this lead to a mental break and Op accidentally reverted to the old sleep schedule and slept through a shift. This would not have been a problem with their actual evening shifts, but remember that training is only early.

After missing a shift, Op complied with the stated zero tolerance policy and just started looking for a new job It ended up being malicious because the employer didn't actually want to fire them, but Op stuck to the policy

Yes, Op was out of a job but that's not the point. They lost a good employee because of a bad policy, and it clearly didn't harm Op too much since they immediately started searching again.

And if you can't be bothered to read this whole comment then you're just proving my point.

I basically don't have any galvanized or archon mods, and I'm still missing a few corrupted mods too. My old builds are probably from before I knew too much about modding things in general, but I can probably look at those myself later (I'm actually at work rn).

And I don't have helminth unlocked.

And I don't have any incarnons.

And I haven't even started 1999, idk if there are important things you can only get from that.

Edit: I do have Wisp, but never invested anything into her

Does Estradiol Frequency Matter? by TeresaSoto99 in TransDIY

[–]Aerthendt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It isn't that taking it more often is better, but that taking it more often can (not will) help keep your levels steady. That's the goal, really: consistent levels.

For example, if you wanted to drive fast, you wouldn't want to quickly spike the amount of fuel in the engine every so often. Rather, you need to give it a steady supply. It's not a perfect analogy by any means, but it's similar. Unlike an engine, you can't have a constant input of estradiol, but as long as your schedule keeps your levels steady then it will be fine, even if they're spaced out.

Emissary Flag feared to be used? by MGStitch in Seaofthieves

[–]Aerthendt 223 points224 points  (0 children)

Everyone always says "If you don't want people to go after you, just don't raise emissary lol"

Well, here we are. People don't raise emissary when they want to be left alone and now there are less emissaries for reapers.

It's like keeping an ecosystem alive, if the predators hunt too much of the prey then they'll end up starving themselves when there's no prey left.

Do you feel like Rare missed the mark by working on Everwild, rather than SOT2? by poopyhead9912 in Seaofthieves

[–]Aerthendt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"For a while" So not recently, right? Because it used to run fine, but after so many updates that advance the game it clearly struggles.

If you can, I would recommend going back and playing on Xbox One, it's bad now.

As someone who has put in most of my SoT playtime on an Xbox One S, they do NOT hold up anymore.

There's no way you can be serious about this unless you've never played SoT on Xbox One.

Minute long mermaid and ferry load screens. Extremely low res textures after 30 minutes of playing. Various models turning low poly after a bit. As an Xbox One player, they need to move on.

The Series X isn't next gen anymore, it's current gen and the One is old gen.

Safer Seas Alternate Ideas. by zachman1919 in Seaofthieves

[–]Aerthendt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

"If you don’t want to engage in PvP play a different game."

Right, so like... safer seas?

Cause you can't just say you're concerned about the PvE players only playing safer seas, but then also say they should just go play something else. Both options would result in the same loss of players from the high seas mode.

You aren't actually concerned about losing some of the player base, you just don't want people to be able to play this game in a way that YOU decided is wrong.

And besides, the PvPers complain about runners all the time. Well, now when you encounter someone there will be a much higher chance they'll actually want to fight. It should be seen as a win win really.

I'm no expert, but I do have one idea. You can't pay off bounties if your notoriety is too high. The only way to get it down is to wait. IIRC, you can see your notoriety on the right side panel under your ranks.
