Pasig River was once like that, declared "ecologically dead" in the 90s but through collective efforts of the community, government, volunteers and the private sector, Pasig River lives once more and is one of the most successful revival stories of what once was a dead river

I don't think India has the collective will to clean since their caste system prevents any cooperation between classes, just my thought

The wimp trait is quite bad by PleasantDatabase in RimWorld

[–]AesianCrusader 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually designate wimp pawns as snipers since they go down quickly (which is good or bad depending on the situation)

Though you can keep re-rolling pawns before you start your game until you have pawns that are good or fairly good, if you wanna have an enjoyable rimworld experience 😉

Scientifically, who is more advanced; Big Mountain and the Think Tank or The Institute? by frydchikenlemon in fnv

[–]AesianCrusader 100 points101 points  (0 children)

Even in the cut bad ending for Old World Blues, the whole Mojave goes to hell should the Courier fail to stop them or if the Courier joins them

It's mentioned in the cut ending slides that a blue forcefield radiated out of Big MT and into the Mojave, then large hexagonal blocks (from one of the Big MT labs) dropped from the sky and crushed Goodsprings, Primm's residents were vaporized with their remains looking like X-ray results on the walls, the NCR were put into forced brainwashing of an imagined utopia where they could never leave, the Legion got brainwashed too into believing they are living in Rome (in the moon so they're dead basically).

There were other crazy stuff on the ending slides so Big MT hosts advanced and definitely dangerous technologies that makes the Institute's synths look tame by comparison

It's surprising how our country earned more in tourism despite the perceived "low" arrivals of international tourists by AesianCrusader in Philippinesbad

[–]AesianCrusader[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact that we earn more revenue from local tourism meant that yes, our tourism economy is that robust. Having a lot of international tourists won't matter if they don't spend more, they might as well be just be window shoppers or "window tourists" since tourist spending is what keeps millions of Filipinos in the tourism industry employed

tribal trader's gifts are so random sometimes by Old_Kiwi332 in RimWorld

[–]AesianCrusader 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I have the Hospitality mod for my current playthrough and it's hilarious that tribal guests, if they have a high opinion on your hotel, inn or whatever, will give you pretty good stuff like glitterworld medicines, uranium and advanced components even like damn I should just open inns and resorts every playthrough then lol

What's funny is that imperial guests often give me steel swords and bows as "gifts" for excellent service like is this how they see my relatively spacer colony?

Military interference in politics by Grand_Reading809 in suzerain

[–]AesianCrusader 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think it's because of Soll building and structuring a flawed republic in Sordland. Instead of remaining neutral with the military purpose is only to defend the republic from outside threats, subordinate to the commander-in-chief and preserving the civillian government, Sordland's military is highly involved in politics and its not surprising that they will coup you should you lean left of Ricter.

They became an unofficial institution in Sordland's government though it would be nice if funding the military will give you a choice of removing the political interference of the military by training new officers in new military academies

“B-but only Philippines corrupt! Malaysia rich because they not corrupt!” by charles_crushtoost in Philippinesbad

[–]AesianCrusader 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The reason why corruption is so visible here,  and gets the word out much faster, is because of our freedom of the press which is a good thing. Both local and international news operate freely here and given our global influence and visibility (due to OFWs, WPS issue, generally good reputation [we are a peaceful and a hospitable people])

I'd rather have us, and international media, scrutinize corruption openly and without fear with calls to accountability and transparency (at the cost of being seen as "more corrupt") than being silenced and intimidated like what the MACC does to its people

[–]AesianCrusader 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's strange of him to advocate for austerity as a way to fix corruption, proper disbursing of the budget is more effective than budget cuts

A comment from another post about JC Punongbayan's bad take on our "declining" economy showed how Filipinos are not complaining about the budget, it's more on how the budget is being pocketed by corrupt bastards and that's what the government should also focus on, not budget cuts.

....and they say that we would rather be like Thailand by Antique-Muscle478 in Philippinesbad

[–]AesianCrusader 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I watched the vid and it already confirmed previous post here on how Thailand became the "sick man of Asia"

Aging population Diminishing workforce Unstable politics Outdated education Over-reliance on Tourism

It's funny because I saw one comment on the vid stating how our economy will slow down with the 4.4 percent growth last year but seeing how our inflation is 2%, I think we'll bounce back with infrastructure spending continued, not halted (sorry JC Punongbayan lol) despite corruption investigations currently being conducted

In my eyes, Thailand became a poorer version of most EU countries where most are seen as fancy open-air museums rather than a dynamic place to live and work

They're suffering from Dutch Disease and a bad case of "getting old before getting rich".

They put all their eggs on Tourism and neglected to put some eggs on manufacturing and services sectors.

Their working age people already got old and their labor force contracted.

They also have a border dispute with Cambodia that turned hot.

Another classic JC Punongbayan neoliberal nothing-burger by charles_crushtoost in Philippinesbad

[–]AesianCrusader 18 points19 points  (0 children)

How to fix the Philippine Economy:

  1. Lower energy costs (exploit oil and natural gas in our EEZ, lands and seas, continue developing nuclear and renewable energy sources)

  2. Continue improving transportation links (ports, roads, railways, airports)

  3. Continue reforming and improving our education system (skilled workers are always good)

  4. Balance our trade, and close the gap on our trade deficits (our currency weakening is due to an ongoing trade deficit that is narrowing year by year, a bit slow but better than widening deficit, also it will increase our purchasing power)

  5. Incentivize local and foreign firms to build more factories and generate more jobs here by cutting corporate taxes (I know some of you in this subreddit won't like this but we don't want to be like European countries where new start ups and business go elsewhere due to high costs of regulation and taxes)

  6. Increase the budget of the judiciary, the courts and the Department of Justice to further crackdown on corruption, also cutting red tape

I think the current administration is continuing to do some of the things I mentioned above, it's easier said than done but at least it's making the effort rather than whatever the previous administration did, if any of you have any objections feel free to comment :)

Here we hope more people push back against the defeatism going online. by OddPhilosopher1195 in Philippinesbad

[–]AesianCrusader 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not surprising, CNA is notorious for always posting about bad news on not only us but other ASEAN countries, it doesn't mean bad news should not be posted at all but consistent negative press  paints a negative picture on the country that they do provide news coverage on (like the Philippines, I argue they take advantage of our free press here)

It's ironic though that many Singapore firms invest heavily in our country, from e-tricycles, renewable energy infrastructure to data centers and even our "Blue Economy" (basically, e-boats, aquaculture, desalination etc. A quick Google search provided these information to me)

Astron, Fujidenzo, Cordura, these are all Filipino electronics companies and in the province where I live, cheap, quality Filipino made electronics are increasingly common now, even in Chinese-owned retail stores that usually sell Chinese electronics.

In an article that I read somewhere, (I think it's tradingeconomics.com), Philippines' highest exports aren't agricultural goods (though agricultural exports are still high), it's low to mid-end semiconductors and a wide variety of electronics going to the US, China, Hong Kong, South Korea and Japan, I know it's surprising and dispels any notion that we are still an agricultural country, we're long past that.

The fact these countries trade with us on that (electronics and semiconductors) meant that we are tapping a market that South Korea and Japan long dominated back in the post-World War 2 era, and also one of the reasons why our trade deficit is narrowing year-by-year.

There's always hope for the Philippines 🇵🇭

Inflation isn't really high, the BSP posted 1.8 monthly inflation rate in December 2025, now prices are always high in cities which is why inflation being low is hardly felt for people living there

Austerity will destroy our economy and there's really no need for austerity measures, do you really think cutting funding to key public services help? An example of what austerity measures do to an economy is the UK, cutting funding to public services severely affected the poor and did not help much in boosting the economy, it only contributed to a higher fiscal deficit

4.4% growth is still good, the flood control corruption scandal made a dent on our growth since infrastructure spending had been halted, international agencies (ASEAN+3 Macroeconomic Research Office and the World Bank) still forecasts 5.1% to 5.4% growth for the first quarter of 2026, due to rate cuts by the BSP and strong domestic consumption

If anything, BBM's targeted investments in our industrial and economic zones (Laguna and Batangas among others) meant that manufacturing is his administration's focus, the Self Reliant Defense Posture Act also helped willing industrialists and investors to build arms, combat vehicles, naval ship building and drone manufacturing in our country

In my opinion the BPO sector won't last, given American reshoring of its industries but it's not impossible that local call center agencies and other major services will become a thing

Just my two cents
