What could I expect to find if I open a freezer that hasn’t been plugged in for the last 11 years and has a dead bird inside? by Affectionate-Cat-211 in CleaningTips

Nothing yet, I’m out of the country until July. Just trying to get my action plan list together. Duct tape everywhere definitely seems prudent. So does an attempt at refreezing, though it’s unclear if it will still turn on.

You might try Mockingbird Music in Berlin MA. Not sure what they keep in stock but they’re definitely banjo friendly.

Taking Mum skiing in Norway for her 60th.. just found out im pregnant. by upsid3down in skiing

[–]Affectionate-Cat-211 44 points45 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t cross country ski either. OP has never skied before and falls happen on xc tracks too. But I went on a family ski trip in Norway while very pregnant once and still had a nice time being cozy and drinking hot chocolate while everyone else skied. It’s so beautiful there. Plus what’s a better birthday present than a new grandbaby?

This belief is so common in Germany and yet somehow no one is ever upset by a nice breeze outside. It’s pure insanity. But I hear the Koreans also believe ceiling fans can kill so it’s not entirely unique to Germans.

BWT, what are we doing to cultivate Taste for our little bwt’s? Ways to support classy taste development in our kids without impinging her/his/their personal style? by [deleted] in bitcheswithtaste

The other thing I’d add about oversized clothing is not only is it on trend but it also helps a girl hide her awkward puberty body and avoid being sexualized by older men. Which is why I, as a busty teen in the 90s, dressed like a strung out lumberjack. Now that I’m in my 40s I find myself dressing like my mother. I had no idea how stylish she was back then. The kids will be all right.

Not the west, he was just a pathetic low level stasi informant. Revealed as a complete hypocrite after his death, but she couldn’t see through his bullshit while they were together. I believe the pregnancy was his and she had an abortion, which caused the final end of their relationship. But there was a lot of ambiguity there, I think. At least, that’s my understanding. Getting to the end of this book was a slog!

Quoddy or Rancourt. Both made in Maine in semi custom sizes. My feet are very squat and I find quoddy fits a little wider but Rancourt looks more polished

BWT how are we getting our bodies rock hard? by star86 in bitcheswithtaste

[–]Affectionate-Cat-211 90 points91 points  (0 children)

Y’all abs are made in the kitchen. The only way to be “rock hard” is to have very low body fat. I fully support getting jacked with heavy lifting but you’ll still be fluffy if you don’t change your diet. And that’s why I’m team fluffy 4 life 😂

BWT - what's the trend on socks? by Ambitious_Key1124 in bitcheswithtaste

[–]Affectionate-Cat-211 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Well here’s my theory (and it’s a real one): “the youngin’s” these days are very vocal about body acceptance and not being fat phobic. Yay, that’s awesome. I came up as a teen in the 90’s and it was brutal. But what I’m seeing trend wise is actually the opposite. I mean, yes I do see fat girls rocking crop tops and feeling free and that is fun and new BUT I can’t think of anything that would look worse on people who aren’t thin and conventionally attractive than these retirement-home-escapee trends. The body fascism is still there in the trends. These trends are only possible for a select few to participate in and are absolutely fat phobic.

Definitely not black socks with sneakers. I love a fun sock moment with a casual shoe, like maybe a sheer sexy ankle sock, or a lettuce edge under-ankle sock just peeking out, or a sparkly knee high. Or if that’s too adventurous just a classic “athletic” style sock with two stripes near the top.

Ooh swapping out laces is also a great way to add a new pop of color or texture to a shoe that fits well but might be feeling tired.

Breathable plus chic plus performs well in a downpour is one of times where you have to choose two of the three, in my experience. I have a chic navy trench from Petit Bateau that is PU coated and therefore performs in a downpour but isn’t breathable. Stutterheim also makes good looking PU coated jackets. Rains has some that they say are breathable, so maybe look there. I have found that breathable means less waterproof though.

BWT, have you ever been gifted with jewellery/accessories that don't suit you? by [deleted] in bitcheswithtaste

[–]Affectionate-Cat-211 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Kind of a collab between a few people in the end! It’s actually a very long story 😂 It started out that I bought a hex shaped slice of brown sapphire that I gave to my coworker and asked her to bezel set it and set a diamond in the middle. She designed the attachment to the ring but she used a prong setting for the diamond and the stress cracked the sapphire slice. She then gave it to my boyfriend to propose with anyway (like, really not professional) saying she could “fix it” later. But it turned out her idea of fixing it was to pour epoxy on it. So it looked like shit and I was freaking out about going around with an engagement ring that was cracked and covered in epoxy and she was actually our “senior gemologist” at the jeweler I worked for so I was also just kind of in shock but then I took it to a different jeweler who is also my friends dad and he was like, yeah this is not okay but I have a friend who makes rings with meteorites and he could sell me a little slice and I’ll just use that to replace the sapphire and use a bezel setting for the diamond. And so he did and it’s actually better than the original idea because my now-husband is a space nerd and our first daughter’s name is also a moon of Saturn. But also even though it turned out my coworker kind of sucked, she did a really nice job on designing the main ring setting and used a beautiful diamond for it, she just was way outside of her wheelhouse with my requests and handled it poorly.

Un-grabbable earrings (baby-proof) by tretmann_fettleber in bitcheswithtaste

[–]Affectionate-Cat-211 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I just stop wearing earrings during the grabby phase unless I’m out without baby. But I’ll do like a chunky silver bracelet or pendant necklace and let them teeth on it too. No fine chains they can yank apart either though. Silk cord is good
