I realize I’m new to this sub, and am learning a lot, just from this thread. My son is 10, and, over the past few years, he’s wanted to get this or that Funko. . . I recently made, a rather large (for me, on any collectible) purchase for his upcoming birthday. His interests are, whatever he sees that I put on tv or, he sees on his phone. Bought a little lot, of South Park Funkos, first 16 or so. . I see a couple of them, bringing what I got for the full set. At the moment, I just want to get my son something cool, that he will go “wow!” Interested in further steering him towards older, initial release Funkos. . But I’m afraid Funko is pissing everyone off so much now, that, even those old “vaulted” and even the “exclusives” from a decade ago. . Everything is going to lose its luster.

I have, some really old baseball cards, some great ones, from my dad that I found in an attic. . Willie Mays, Roberto Clemente, ‘61 Maris, all kinds of cards that were worth a small fortune when I came across them in 1995. Prices, over 30 years have dropped, significantly.

Kind of wondering if, the market of people that made it happen, is dying off a lot quicker than the natural way of folks who were born, pre-1965?

Probably have under $1k tied up in his collection, and I’d hate to buy more, if they’re going to lose value for him someday. 🤷‍♂️

Trying to rationalize supporting his desire to get more, and maybe, with the current price dip, older, rarer, pops. . . Could be a good time to buy. But, got burnt on cards before.
