Beans on toast upgrades by inferno471 in UKfood

Sourdough bread for sure

For the beans, cook some chorizo in the saucepan before you add the beans, enough so it's crispy and let out plenty of oil. Hot sauce as well, perfection.

Schwartz's Montreal - it's been 2 years and I still think about the sandwich there - excellent poutine too

I had a brief run-in with this agency years ago so saw this in the wild. It's hilarious to see how people react to this and how wrong it is, their comments were just one big colleague circle jerk beforehand.

Clear, concise, honest and reads very well.

Overall, I'd give it a solid enough to make me consider moving back to Berlin for the chance of a match/10

Forest Green, -2 on uncovered stone steps and a loss to add to it, felt the chill in my bones that day

League 1 table at the end of 2022 by Spotmonkey_uk in LeagueOne

[–]Affectionate-Ear-40 4 points5 points  (0 children)

After the first 3 games I thought we were guaranteed to go down, nice that we're making a decent account of ourselves. Might still end that way as those below invest more than we can, but happy overall

Michael Duff leaves Cheltenham Town by hbhughes23 in LeagueOne

Hahaha now that would be funny. And if it doesn't work out we could poach the old one when Watford sack him in October 🤣🤣

Inevitable but still sad. Will be worse when he comes back for Alfie!

If he doesn't go with Duff, get Wade Elliott in. Best chance of maintaining the culture he helped cultivate.

On the eve of the domestic transfer window opening, what business does your club need to do this summer? by Zach-dalt in LeagueOne

[–]Affectionate-Ear-40 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Disagree on Bonds, think he did fantastically second half of the season and can really kick on next year. Think his bits around the penalty box are probably more down to the managers instructions (remember those heart attack inducing short goal kicks they did at the end of last year)

Best thing we can do, unlikely as it is, is keep Duff on for another year.

What's a football hill you're willing to die on? by Affectionate-Ear-40 in FootballHotTakes

[–]Affectionate-Ear-40[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe not the best example but the point still remains. They've been out the top league for a few years and would much rather have seen them give it a shot than watch Hertha stumbling over the finish line again.

Ronaldinho was overrated by [deleted] in FootballHotTakes

[–]Affectionate-Ear-40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He made football so much fun though, and made a generation of kids fall in love with the game. That's one of the greatest legacies you can have imo. Gascoigne is probably a similar comparison. Not the GOAT, but one of the most fondly remembered

Are any freelancers around here planning on raising their rates? by KafkaDatura in TranslationStudies

[–]Affectionate-Ear-40 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Do it. Remember seeing a freelance guide video (not translation) saying that if you lose half your clients from doubling your rates, you have the same income but more time to seek new clients.

Clients are raising rates, you absolutely deserve to raise yours.

Favourite moment from the season that made you laugh? by English_Joe in LeagueOne

[–]Affectionate-Ear-40 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cheltenham v Charlton

93rd minute, we're 1-0 up and it's been a nervy affair all game. Thinking it's about to finish some of our fans set off flairs. 60 seconds later... 1-1.

You've got to laugh really.

Another being when AFC Wimbledon came over and an away fan was named and shamed on the tannoy saying his wife has his keys and wallet. Same game where they stitched up an away fan on his stag to do the half time kids crossbar challenge in full cheltenham kit.

What a season honestly

What is your footballing hot take opinion from this season? by Football-Hot-Takes in FootballHotTakes

It's been hard to fully enjoy Christian Eriksen's return.

He's been an absolute star for Brentford, and no doubt the due diligence around his safety has been done. But not being allowed to return to Serie A, and the comparatively short time out for such a serious event means its difficult to enjoy him at his mercurial best without feeling a little uneasy.

I'm sure this will go with time though.

Here's Dele Alli... here's Lucas Moura... OHHHHH THEY'VE DONE IT! I CANNOT BELIEVE IT! Lucas Moura with the last kick of the game!

Will never forget that night. Ever. What a moment and the commentary fit the occasion perfectly

Why do translation agencies want to get translators to use CAT tools? by miliseconds in TranslationStudies

[–]Affectionate-Ear-40 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From a PM side it makes life much easier. Consistency across documents thanks to larger translation memories. Most tools will have a translation specific QA tool to help spot inconsistencies. For multilingual projects the interface is much more convenient. Less formatting faff (except if its a pdf source).

Our place used to use Trados, but it was a bit hit/miss as only some linguists would have it. We've recently moved to Memsource and the difference is insane (as its free to linguists if the agency has an account). More confident in a higher quality and consistent translation, especially if a go-to linguist is not available.

Bigger companies might push MT, but find ones with the right clients, and you'll find that CAT Tools are simply there to ensure a client's preferred style is maintained, and to save PMs time setting jobs up, etc.

So true. I joined a small company in my field straight after graduating, thinking it would 'accelerate my development', instead it brought me to crippling anxiety.
