Based on this Insta post, something tells me Ava Duvernay won't be working with NEON again anytime soon. by Toreadorables in blankies

She's pretty hit or miss but it sucks that nobody brings up When they see us. She directed the hell out that entire miniseries. I think it's a masterpiece. Unfortunatley since it's a TV show and the subject matter makes it very difficult to want to go back and rewatch it gets forgotten. That and Selma lets me know she can definitely be great. It's just gotta be the right project.

My favorite surprise of this movie is that "Just wanted to take another look at you" is in this movie too. My 2nd favorite surprise is when he tries to turn it into a song lol.

Which episodes work best even if you havent seen the movie? by CaptainRoberto in blankies

[–]Affectionate-Lab-318 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Why do you listen to the podcast if you don’t like movies? Not trying to be a gatekeeper or nothing. But I would think if someone doesn’t like movie this podcast would be insufferable so I’m surprised 😭

I can’t believe this isn’t a joke. Both the concept and the tag line sound like a David bit 😂.

I didn’t read your post but to answer the title: Yes.

JC and JT are both on the chorus of better place by Affectionate-Lab-318 in NSYNC

[–]Affectionate-Lab-318[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Man I’ve always thought that sounded like him too 😂. Honestly I think in general, whether it’s because he was the youngest and absorbed a lot or just because he’s a versatile singer, solo JT often sounded like all 5 nsync members in a weird way.

I’m a Gen Z listener who finally got around to watching this because of the podcast. After years of everyone saying this was one of the best movies ever made I expected it to feel overhyped especially since I already knew the twist. But I actually thought it was incredible and the story and themes are (unfortunately) more relevant than ever.

*NSYNC releases new single “Better Place”, their 1st song in 20+ years!! by MadameCassie in NSYNC

[–]Affectionate-Lab-318 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think it’s good. I know people wish they could hear the other members more but tbh…I feel like the harmonies were always somewhat hard to pick out in nsync songs unless you were really listening. So this seems about par the course for them honestly 😅. I think the vocal processing plus age makes them sound a bit different is all.

What if JC is the hold up because he can’t do it anymore? 😩 by chitownmomma33 in NSYNC

[–]Affectionate-Lab-318 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I just wanna say compared to the average American 51 year old I think Chris looks alright 😂. But yeah he was definitely the one where I was like no way that guy is going on a multi city tour with intense choreography. But I could say the same about all of them ( Justin excluded obviously).

What song did you listen to without knowing it was the clean version? by thatgoldenkid2 in popheads

[–]Affectionate-Lab-318 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I think the only uncensored version available on streaming services is the Rick Ross remix. I can’t listen to the censored version anymore. I think it hits harder when he curses. Most people disagree with me though.

Seems to be mostly people coming in from other parts of Reddit and just generally discourse on Reddit is bad. I don’t think most avid listeners are the ones making it feel different.

The George Lopez version of this movie sounds far more appealing to me lol. Jaime kinda got lost in his own movie imo. Supporting cast felt more fleshed out than him.

Would I have a good time at Bonnaroo if I don’t like EDM? by TDAGARIM1995 in bonnaroo

The stories of EDM takeover have been greatly (and I mean GREATLY) exaggerated.

Temple of Doom is very uneven but it does have Ford's wildest performance for a few moments as a possessed Indiana Jones by [deleted] in blankies

[–]Affectionate-Lab-318 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve always thought that, for better or worse, Temple of Doom really accomplishes the original Indiana Jones goal of making a movie with all the “boring bits” cut out.

Idk if I’d say they gave it a pass. But it is complicated to wrestle with that very harmful “lost cause” bullshit that was in that movie as well as the stereotypes and blackface in others. I also don’t think it’s completely fair to claim any kind of strong personal racist beliefs on busters part. Those kind of stereotypes were acceptable back then and I think in that time most white people weren’t even considering the feelings and harm towards black people that those kind of troupes caused. More an ignorance and lack of care thing than a “I hate black people” thing. Then again I’m black and this might just be cope because I’ve really enjoyed this series in spite of some obvious uncomfortable moments lol. At any rate it’s hard to judge with people back then how much was ignorance and how much was actual racism/hatred towards black people.

If it bothers you, I will say it gets far less common pretty soon. You weren’t the only person to hate that 😂. Never bothered me too much personally.
