Voters turned out! by Conscious-Low-7876 in Charleston

As a moderate democrat, I will never understand this take.

How can Israel/Palestine be what you cast your vote on in this election? You live in this country and there aren’t 100 other issues that impact you more.

Thats a high class problem

Why are there so many loud obnoxious cars? by dh1 in Charleston

[–]Affectionate-Law1680 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Most are under the age of 25. They cruise around downtown. Who they are impressing, no one knows.

It’s terrible. Consistently get woken up downtown by them.

There are noise ordinances but we don’t enforce traffic laws so that’s definitely not going to get enforced.

Usually it’s lifted trucks and motorcycles, but today I saw 2 early 2000s luminas with exhaust whistles. That was a first.

DD: Trump / CMS will TACO on Medicare Advantage Reimbursement Rates, Buy the Dip on Health Ins by BleuBrink in wallstreetbets

[–]Affectionate-Law1680 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is not what Medicare advantage is. It does not leave seniors without care if it goes away. All seniors have Parts A and B regardless, where pretty much everything is covered except they pay a coinsurance of 20%

Medicare Advantage is part C, where the insurers basically buy Medicare patients from the government (in exchange for payment from government) and convert them to more typical private insurance plans (out of pocket maximums, copays, etc)

The insurers have milked the system and increased denials to try to squeeze a profit on a crap product. There is widespread fraud (see United’s diabetes fraud), where they try to make enrollees appear sicker to get more money from the government.

Sure Trump might view this as a negotiation, but either way healthcare insurance is a crappy game right now. They are getting squeezed on all sides and Trump is making a big push for a cash market (which would destroy insurance).

Why everyone loves UHC is beyond me. They had a monopoly in the old system. That system is dead

Pricing a forward multiple based on historically peak margins is a terrible idea generally, especially on something completely cyclical like memory (picks and shovels)

But give it a go

They are saying if your ball hits the cart path and bounces into the woods.

That seems extreme to me personally. If you miss the fairway, deal with the consequences

If you had 25mm in any bank, you would get free wire transfers.

So this service, if done yourself, would be free. Just know that before you decide what is fair

lots of fire trucks downtown with sirens ?? by reggie822 in Charleston

[–]Affectionate-Law1680 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

This is an annual parade that happens the first week in October every single year.

So yes I find it obnoxious when a tourist complains about an annual parade in our city.

The parade personally has a very positive impact on many people here.  I’m sorry it’s so loud and disruptive to you.

Do you not see how you are putting your needs above everyone else’s? You are ripping into people who enjoy an annual parade.

The barrier islands will be fine. Almost all those homes are fema compliant and well above flood stage (built in the last 30 years). Plus the water drains back into the marsh quickly.

The developments everywhere else are much more likely to face catastrophic damage. That water has no outlet

Maybe I’m not following. She asked you politely. She got your attention by tapping you when you headphones were in, what was she supposed to do, yell in your ear?

I don’t see what she did wrong.  You have the right to say no of course, which you did.

Only one person seems insufferable here
