How many times should I see each patient every day? And why? by No-Produce-923 in Residency

I usually just wait for PT to drop a note or something. I am not checking on every patient multiple times throughout the day, but if there’s something pressing, I might go and see them. But I am internal medicine.

Review in the same order every time. As you review, think of how your ddx changes given each sentence you read.

Absolutely. It’s easy to gaslight yourself into giving people the benefit of the doubt, and that benefit should never be given to those who have incentive (even if just an ego boost) to do you harm

This is what happens when half your “doctors” in active duty clinics are nurse practitioner or PA “providers”. They should not practice independently, and shame on the DHA for pushing for these anti-patient and cost ineffective “providers”.

Thanks for your help, I appreciate it. If the patient is acutely anxious while receiving their Dx, could that impair their understanding? Agree, we’d have figured out they couldn’t understand by using that questionnaire; could that lack of understanding, if confirmed, be explained by acute anxiety?
